## What is Readbird?

Read more with Readbird. Drop in a link, a PDF, or anything with text, and Readbird reads it to you, right on your iPhone. It keeps working on flights, trains, subway tunnels and trails, because the voices run on your phone, not in the cloud.

No account. No ads. No gimmicks. Just press play.

WORKS OFFLINE
• Voices download once, then everything plays with no signal
• Built for travel: airplane mode, tunnels, road trips, the backcountry
• Add your links while you're connected; PDFs, scans and pasted text work anywhere

DROP IT IN
• Links: you get the article, not the ads and menus
• PDFs, including scanned pages
• Photos and camera: point it at a page and listen
• Anything you paste, or share to Readbird from Safari and other apps

JUST THE ESSENTIALS
• Natural voices that sound like people, including audiobook narrators
• Speed up without the chipmunk effect
• Words light up as they're read; tap any sentence to jump there
• Your place is saved automatically
• Keeps playing with your screen locked, with lock-screen and headphone controls
• Sleep timer and dark mode

FREE TO START
Readbird is free, with 7 natural voices and speeds up to 2×. Readbird Pro unlocks all 30 voices and speeds up to 4×.
• Lifetime: pay once, keep it. No subscription.
• Monthly: an auto-renewable subscription
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase
• The monthly subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple Account settings

PRIVATE
What you read never leaves your phone. Readbird collects only anonymous usage stats, never your documents, and you can turn them off in Settings.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-30

Smoother listening: speech no longer stops mid-word, playback picks up right away when you switch to AirPods or CarPlay, and a voice download that gets interrupted now finishes instead of breaking. PDFs keep their paragraphs and headings, and adding a link no longer asks to paste.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-28

No release notes.
