If something happens to your device or you decide to switch to a new one, you’ll have to manually transfer your library, reading progress, highlights, notes, bookmarks, and other data. That might be manageable with a small library, but if you’ve accumulated hundreds of books and lots of annotations, it’s simply not practical. But on the iPad sometimes it loses my place when I open the book. It often goes around 100 pages ahead. ### 4/5 — Just missing a few QoL improvements *2026-05-13, version 1.2.2* This is such a flexible and awesome ebook reader. The ability to import a folder of books from iCloud makes managing my collection so easy, since I can do it with other software and have it all sync to the scan-folder. It has pretty much exactly the right amount of features without going overboard (though I certainly wouldn’t mind the ability to full customize every aspect of the reading view, colors, custom fonts, etc.). The ONE THING it is missing is iCloud syncing. I would really like to be able to go back and forth between my iPhone and iPad without having to spend the time, every time, to figure out where I left off. And even more so, that saves and highlights are not synced. It makes me feel like I can only read on one device, which I really don’t like, but I’m still using the app because it’s still the most flexible for the other mentioned reasons. ### 3/5 — Text not displaying? *2026-05-13* This has everything I need, for free no ads, which is great and makes me nit want to review it any lower but occasionally it is rendered unusable by the font becoming the same color as the background. Und ich bin begeistert! Alle wesentlichen Funktionen sind vorhanden! Zudem kostenlos. Warum nur 4 Sterne? Leider ist es nicht möglich zu lesen und gleichzeitig Musik zu hören (Amazon Musik über AirPlay)! La seule possibilité de synchroniser l’ensemble de ses lectures est de passer à la formule payante (15€) mais dispo uniquement sur Android donc autant dire que c’est inutile quand on a un appareil de chaque… Aucune possibilité de classer ses lectures par collection sur iOS ce qui est pénible quand on a beaucoup d’ebook dans la bibliothèque… Vraiment dans l’espoir et l’attente que la version Android soit clonée sur iOS pour passer à la version payante! Спасибо! ### 1/5 — Shame that it’s the best Android ereader and worthless on IOS *2026-02-28, version 1.2.0* Do you want to scroll through your library looking at each and every file until you locate it with no options for storing it in some kind of sane usable manner. Because it’s Apple ipad I now have to delete MY ENTIRE LIBRARY download a new app that is going to suck because it will just want to sell me books I own, then I get to write another one of these, delete that library/app along with MY ENTIRE LIBRARY, rinse repeat. This is truly the last Apple device I will ever own and I consider using Android a form of lite torture. Simple to use, easy to navigate, everything you need in one place. No ads or anything, just a great app! The developers have clearly poured a lot of love into it. I just wish there as a premium option for iOS - I really like coloured highlights so I can organise my quotes. I’ve been using it on both Apple and Android devices for years. Love the flexibility with light and size. One question: my Android seems not to have an upper limit in the number of books, but the Apple version stopped at 2150. I know - a crazy total, but I use dictionaries and references books and etc. Am I doing something wrong or is Apple limited? NOT a complaint. ### 5/5 — If you want to read downloaded things, this is the app *2026-05-15, version 1.2.2* ReadEra is really good at its job. It is pretty customizable, it works, and it’s free. If you want to read or listen to downloaded books, this is probably your best option. There are some nitpicks I have, which shouldn’t effect your decision to download: I don’t really like the ‘Reading Now’ section. I personally would prefer to open up to the full list of books. Not having the option has caused plenty of confusion for me. The Text-to-Speech has an arbitrary limit of x1.75, which is good, but I think I would enjoy at least x2. Maybe it was deemed too incomprehensible or something, but I would love for more options. Overall, it significantly improves the reading process compared to many alternatives. One feature I would really like to see added is the ability to write notes for a specific book. For example, a dedicated section where I could keep track of character names along with short descriptions.
