### 2/5 — Readers Digest

*2026-08-26, version 6.4*

Unable to read it, I get a blank screen

### 4/5 — My big acting up

*2026-08-11, version 6.4*

For some reason every time I load it 3-4 seconds later it says “an error occurred”. Please fix it

### 4/5 — Minor improvement needed, still good app

*2025-07-21*

I downloaded this app after subscribing in 2023. Ive loved it since. However i own a giant rd collection and can’t take it on the go with me. All your archives span up to 2011, so there is no way to read pre 2010 issues. I wonder if you have an archive of all the magazines you made digitally so that I could read old issues on the go. Thanks!

### 3/5 — Ok but not great

*2025-04-07, version 6.0*

Way too many non English speakers. Antiquated it.

### 1/5 — No table of contents

*2025-03-02, version 6.0*

There is no clickable table of contents. One has to literally scroll to the last page say to go to, say Word Power.

### 3/5 — Print edition valued

*2025-01-31, version 5.9*

Once upon a time the app version of READER’S DIGEST could be downloaded and saved so an internet connection was not needed. It also had a bookmark and table of contents at the ready, to avoid scrolling through pages to get to the place you remember reading last. No more. It can’t be downloaded and saved. On a plane, it cannot be read if you accidentally close & reopen the app. You have to flip through pages to get to the place you need to be.

I treasure my print editions as I can take them anywhere to read them. Even to the beach! I can highlight parts I like, or tear out pages to keep & share. If it’s intact, I donate it to my library so someone else can enjoy it & hopefully get their own subscription.

I’ve read Reader’s Digest since 1963, when I was 12. The jokes were my favorite & the real stories taught me valuable lessons. I might not like the app, but I will continue to subscribe to the print version as long as I live.

### 1/5 — Just took my money

*2024-10-08*

Did 1 year subscription. Of course have to pay for back issues. But clucked on latest issue, but to read it I must pay an additional $4. Total rip off not recommended.

### 1/5 — APP DEVS HELP

*2024-08-23, version 5.9*

I just bought my subscription but it won’t let me read anything. I can’t even create an account so I can’t sign in

### 1/5 — App Not Working!

*2024-06-30, version 5.8*

I keep getting an “Entitlement Server returned empty token”!

### 1/5 — disappointment

*2024-05-29*

really wanted to subscribe. Gave it a try. and was nable to log in. The app did not understand I wanted a digital subscription through the app. unable to log in nor register. Tried supoort and was completely useless just sending me to rd.com and had nowhere to go there in search of support. They could just care less to my wanting to subscribe. Way to go, felt very welcome with that trial...not!

### 2/5 — Can’t log into the app!

*2024-05-17, version 5.8*

Long, boring story. I send emails for help. They send instructions that don’t work. I send screenshot of error message I receive. I receive no further emails. Rinse and repeat.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2024-02-03, version 5.8*

After completing the subscription via iphone app, it still asks for subscription and not letting anything to be downloaded

### 1/5 — Not a review

*2023-01-03, version 5.8*

January 2023 Reader’s Digest appears to be released WHY is it not on my iPhones paid subscription

### 3/5 — Digital copy

*2022-09-09, version 5.7*

I really like reading it on my iPad but I have not figured out how to mark my place. I have to remember what I read last and find the article again. I think I used to be able to bookmark it but can’t do it now.

### 1/5 — Not compatible with Apple

*2022-08-17, version 5.7*

I have subscribed via Apple but this app will not restore my purchases

### 2/5 — Good old magazine.... just dead pictures of pages

*2022-08-03, version 5.7*

So I like the magazine... this is an app review... it really isn't one. All it is are dead pictures of the pages. MANY of the RD best features are in quiz format or select format. Ok on a print page you get your ballpoint out and circle your pick or write your answer in the margin... nothing on a dead picture of a page... what? get out a piece of paper and a pen to use an app?

### 1/5 — What the

*2022-05-07, version 5.6*

I bought and paid for RD in December of 21 and have yet to receive a printed version of the magazine. Had I known that that wouldn’t happen I would not have bought it, my wife can not read on a phone or iPad. And now I keep getting these annoying emails from their sales group to buy it again ☹️trust me when I say never again. I don’t expect this to be posted I just hope it is read by someone who gives a stink. So far no one has.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Glitch

*2026-08-30, version 6.4*

The app does not work at all. Maybe you need to update it

### 1/5 — Better Business should check out Reader’s Digest

*2026-08-19, version 6.4*

I have had a subscription for Reader’s Digest for over 50 years. I changed from the mailed magazine to on line because I got tired of magazines not being delivered.
I started my digital subscriptions through Amazon and got a while everything was fine until the month before I had to renew. Then suddenly I could not access the magazines I had bought. I tried to deal with the publishers but hit a brick wall. I like the magazine so I thought if I bought my subscription through Apple instead of Amazon it might solve my problem. It did not!
I bought my latest subscription in September of 2025 with a renewal scheduled for mid September, 2026. Unfortunately in August of 2026 my app will not access anything at all. I have talked to Apple who worked with me to try and access my magazines but could not. I have sent all the information available from Apple to Reader’s Digest to get their help but all they look at is the cancellation of my subscription renewal with Amazon in 2025 and not my new subscription through Apple in September of 2025. I guess I will have to give up on reading a magazine that I had enjoyed for over 50 years. Apple at least generously has refunded the original purchase price they took 11 months ago.

### 1/5 — App NOT working

*2026-08-13, version 6.4*

I will have no option but to not renew in September unless you get this to work again. Please advise.

### 1/5 — App opens to black screen

*2026-08-13, version 6.4*

App worked fine until this month. Now it opens to a black screen. Numerous emails sent and no response so I’m stuck with an app that doesn’t work and paid for subscription through 1/2027. Also keep trying to contact Apple support and automated system won’t route me to live person and automated chat no help. Just asks useless questions and no help getting a refund.

### 1/5 — App is non-functional, useless!

*2026-08-13, version 6.4*

I either get an “error occurred” message or a black screen. Issues thumbnails are no longer displayed. Whatever they did in this update needs to be backed out.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-08-13, version 6.4*

Not user friendly at all. Slow and too many hoops to jump through.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-06-25, version 6.2*

I purchased this 24 hours ago. My purchase has not been updated in the app even though I got a receipt for the purchase. My free week is clicking away and I can’t use the app. There are not any issues with my Apple Card—other purchases have gone through. CS is nonexistent and non responsive.

### 1/5 — No longer showing current issue

*2025-08-16, version 6.2*

Current issue is not showing as available for reading or download. Have always seen a delay between receiving print edition and seeing it on iPad app. But recently it’s three weeks into current issue’s month and still not available.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2025-04-03, version 6.0*

I paid for a year I can't sign in. I need my refund.

### 1/5 — doesnt work， bad app

*2025-03-16, version 6.0*

i downloaded the last issue. but can't see anything.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-04-21, version 6.1*

Great great great

### 5/5 — Good app, good time

*2025-03-01, version 6.0*

The app works great and this is so much a better way to enjoy phone time than doom scrolling through contentious social media posts and comments. This app is an oasis. Each article is brief and well-written.

### 5/5 — ReadersDigest

*2024-05-07, version 5.8*

I haven’t been able to view my Readers Digest for a long time. Something changed.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2021-10-02, version 5.4.6*

I have subscribed to Readers Digest for many years, and I love the magazine. Then I found it In Digital form, and I love this too! The digital form is easy to use, very user friendly, and the same wonderful reading material is now on my iPad! Thanks, Readers Digest! Great reading!

### 5/5 — Dark mode

*2021-09-02*

Please add Night mode for reading

### 5/5 — RD always the best

*2020-12-08, version 5.3.2*

Reader’s Digest has been my favorite magazine since I was young. The variety of topics, and the regular features, e.g., Humor in Uniform, Laughter, the Best Medicine, Word Power, to name a few, bring so much enjoyment and edification. The information in each article is accurate and well researched. Practical, entertaining, informative. I love RD and look forward to each new issue!

### 5/5 — Great! When it works.

*2020-11-29, version 5.3.2*

This is the second month in a row I can’t read the new issue even though my subscription renewed 2 months ago. I sent an email to customer service, but since it is a holiday weekend I have not gotten a reply. Too bad I also won’t have the time to read it after the weekend is over.

### 5/5 — No Support At All

*2020-10-17, version 5.3.2*

I loved this app when it worked. But they did something to change to “article based”. Suddenly, all my downloaded issues disappeared. Everything appeared with a price. Apple says my subscription is fine, I need to contact the App developers. The number for help provided on the app is geared to print subscribers. They can’t even understand the issue. They send you to a website to register, which is also for print subscribers, NOT for people who pay for the app. I’ve called them twice — zero understanding of the issue. I sent an email to the address provided in the app. It’s been a week — no response. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded the app twice, done everything I can think of. And there is nowhere to go for help! Nothing is worth this amount of frustration!!!! So very disappointing!

### 5/5 — Interesting Reading

*2020-07-30, version 5.2.6*

I have had a subscription for years and have also made a gift of a subscription to my mother in law. It’s always a good time to be able to sit down with Readers Digest. Not only do I love the stories but the jokes are very fun. Love this magazine

### 5/5 — No politics

*2020-05-26, version 5.2.6*

Take a break from the nonsense and enjoy READING.
