YouTube transcripts are working again, and embedded videos now play reliably inside ReaderView. We’ve also refined the video thumbnail and play button for a cleaner reading experience, along with general stability improvements.

### 8.8.36 — 2026-07-11

ReaderView 8.8.36 improves article loading on pages where only part of the story was previously detected (thanks Aharon!).
It can now recover more complete article text on difficult sites, avoids accepting short sidebar-like snippets as the full article, and improves image quality on pages that provide low-resolution preview images instead of the original media. 

Video and media-heavy posts should also display more reliably.

It also keeps videos from X or Twitter articles.

### 8.8.35 — 2026-07-01

ReaderView changes in 8.8.35:
- Article images now use the same margins as the main article instead of being widened with negative margins.
- ReaderView image loading is more reliable offline and for srcset image URLs.
- AI voice playing keeps the iOS display awake while reading so playback can continue.
- TTS no longer reads long visible URLs aloud; it speaks concise hostnames like "github dot com".
- PDF handling is more reliable when preprocessing detects a PDF.

### 8.8.34 — 2026-06-12

This update improves PDF articles, sharing, and text-to-speech reliability.
PDF images now load more reliably in the reader, including PDFs opened from Safari through the app extension.
PDF article images are sharper, with higher-resolution preview rendering.
Sharing a PDF article with “Link + Text” now preserves images in email by embedding them directly in the shared HTML.
“Link + Text” now shows a spinner while the share content is being prepared.
Plain “Link” sharing is faster and opens immediately.
Fixed an issue where shared email content could be missing when preparing article text asynchronously.
AI voices can now play at different speeds without changing the pitch.
Improved AI voices playback behavior, including native playback support so audio can continue even when the phone is set to Silent.
Adjusted PDF reader display so duplicate PDF titles are no longer shown at the top of the article.
