Easy to add new books to my ‘to read’ list with the barcode scanner. ### 5/5 — Reliable *2026-08-25, version 2.9.1* I’ve found that despite this apps short comings on book data it makes up for in simple straight forward setup with no bs ads. I pay for the yearly subscription and it’s cheap. The app allows me to check on how I improved this year, log reads, gives averages, etc. I love that I can add a book to my reading list and if the info is lacking I can change it. One thing I would like them to change or at least add is some color variation to the app aesthetics. It sort of has an aged look which is sort of a fall back. Simple but great! ### 5/5 — To me, this is a perfect app *2026-08-15, version 2.9.1* To me, this is a (rare) example of a a perfect IOS app. Its goals are simple: log, organize, and keep track of your progress in books you're reading/have read. It does not try to be something it isn't; it doesn't try to be a book-buying app (although it does give you the option to see bookshop.org or amazon links for your books), it doesn't try to be a general, non-book organizational app, etc. The programming is efficient and reliable; I've never had the app crash or lag or drain my phone's battery. Most importantly to me, there is a lifetime membership option to remove ads (and unlock a few minor cosmetics). Apple requires developers to pay a fee for their app to be listed on the IOS store; most devs tackle this with annoying ads that you must pay a *recurring* payment to eliminate. Reading List has ads, but they are not disruptive. It also has a recurring payment option to remove them. But most important to me, there is the option to pay for the Pro Membership for life (and at a reasonable price—unlike other apps that only have a lifetime option to scam folks out of ~$200).
