I got this game for my 6yr old daughter that is currently in K. She started playing and at fist it was easy but the game progresses to sentences. She is loving it ! She is liking the rewards and is so far keeping her interested… but she just got it… so with that being said we will see how she keeps up with it. The only problem we have had with the app freezing was during in incoming call. My iPad is linked to my phone and when the phone rang it froze the game. Pronounces R as “eeerrrr”, L as “eelllll”, and a few other sounds that set our child 3 months back. This is a dumb game to keep kid occupied without as much care to learning. Deleted it and now reworking with my daughter to remember correct pronunciation. ### 1/5 — Pay separately for Iphone *2016-01-20, version 1.4.2* This app for the IPad is great. However, if you want Reading Raven on your IPhone you have to purchase it separately. I think this is exceptionally lame. Nearly all my apps work on both without paying for them twice. I really wish Apple wouldn't allow this, and I'm disappointed in the developer. ### 1/5 — American accent *2014-03-14, version 1.4.1* It's a good app if you are American but I would avoid it if you from the UK. The American accent is very thick and it was confusing for my almost 4 year old who couldn't recognise some of the words as they sounded so different. It needs an update with a British accent for the UK. ### 1/5 — Doesn't work with IOS7! *2013-10-24, version 1.4* This was the coolest App we've seen until Apple updated to iOS7 now the microphone does not work and that was the best part of this App. ### 2/5 — Filled with mistakes *2014-11-29, version 1.4.2* This app was promising but in a couple days we've already seen two big mistakes. It asked my daughter to find the "sat" and shows a picture of a cat. Then it says "cat: S-A-T". At another point it asked which letter makes the "O" sound and the letter "o" was not one of the choices- very confusing for my daughter. ### 2/5 — Very lame!!! *2013-12-16, version 1.4.1* So much for calling it reading raven.... I thought I was purchasing something for my little boy which could teach him how to read as he already knows his letters and phonics! Nope...it just teaches/revises letters and their sounds! My little one was not impressed with the illustrations or the music and voices as they were dull and boring... 2 stars for the amount of stuff put in there, but please call it letters/phonics raven! ### 2/5 — Bad pronunciation :( *2013-10-08, version 1.4* The letter 'O' does not make an 'ah' sound, this is why I have chosen 2stars. It is misguiding and so disappointing, especially as the app is such a great idea. My daughter is 3.5 and is a good reader having been introduced to similar Apps at an early age. I downloaded this App today paying $3.99 today but I was dismayed because my daughter already knows all the lessons in this App and is not challenged at all. The voice prompt and the graphics also need to be faster for kids to peruse through questions they already know. I wish the App scaled up to more complex phonetics, sight words, vocabulary etc. I wish I could get my money back .. He's learnt most of his letters in about a month, along with their sounds. In fact, the sounds are emphasized, which is great. I love watching his letter matching skills develop, and then his word matching skills, and now his sound recognition skills. And it's fun to play and Asa a parent it's fun to watch him play. My only suggestion is that my son prefers the circus level the best...about ten times more than any other level. Loves the lions. It'd be great if I could customize each of the levels and select their theme. Just a thought. Thanks for a great game. Love the way they have incorporated the letter sight recognition with the sounds and then blending the sounds into the word. Nice interactive voice recording for the child. Nice phonics program for the beginner.
