### 5/5 — So worth it

*2014-05-31, version 1.4.1*

This is one of the few educational apps that's actually educational. My kiddos love it too:)

### 5/5 — Best kids app I've found

*2014-02-19, version 1.4.1*

I've downloaded a couple dozen apps for my three kids and this one is the best by far. My 5-year old has graduated out of volume 1 and now my two 2-year olds are using it. They all enjoy it and ask for it. I've been really impressed by how well designed the app is, from an educational perspective. It's really helped all three kids build their reading skills, probably more than anything else we've done.

### 5/5 — My five year old loves this app!

*2014-02-01, version 1.4.1*

This app has engaged my five year old son in the foundations of reading. Five stars!

### 4/5 — Needs only one more thing

*2014-01-29, version 1.4.1*

This is a remarkable app. The only thing needed is the ability to make separate user accounts for families with more than one child. This way the sticker rewards can remain intact for each child.

### 5/5 — Fun for kids and grown ups too

*2014-01-25, version 1.4.1*

My son and his preschool class are just learning to read. My son was only marginally interested, but this "game" really engaged him and got his focus. Really well done!

### 5/5 — Excellent app!

*2013-12-19, version 1.3.2*

This is my first app review. Reading raven is excellent for teaching children to read. I especially like the recording of the child's own voice then play back so the child can hear themselves reading! Very clever, good range of activities and my 4.5 yr old absolutely loves it! I was surprised how successful it is....

### 4/5 — Reading

*2013-12-17, version 1.3.2*

4 star

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2013-08-09, version 1.3.2*

Really fun way to read!

### 5/5 — Best reading app out there

*2013-08-05, version 1.3.2*

My 5 year old daughter says, " this is awesome!" She has fun and is establishing strong basic reading skills. Great!

### 5/5 — Fantastic!

*2013-07-29, version 1.3.2*

My kid loves this app and I love to watch him play and learn.

### 4/5 — Test run

*2013-06-25, version 1.3.2*

Just played this as a test before i let my 4 year old play it. Found it very easy to navigate, great visuals but the music is a bit annoying. Will make my daughter play with headphones on tomorrow.

### 5/5 — The best

*2013-06-16, version 1.3.2*

Simply the best educational app my family has used. Girls ages 4 and 6, but I think they could have used it both earlier and later!

### 5/5 — Great

*2013-04-21, version 1.3.2*

Very nice app. Kept my son entertained and it was very educational.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2013-03-23, version 1.3.2*

My 3 year old loves this app. He's getting really good at spelling simple words and tracing letters. The app is cute and very useful.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Average app but takes money without authority

*2025-07-17, version 1.5.1*

The app is as expected and average. However there is no way to cancel anything and they keep taking money without authorisation. Emails will be answered very slow and can’t get a. Refund

### 1/5 — Nope

*2018-08-14, version 1.5.0*

Have to pay again for each compatible device.

### 1/5 — No multi-user very poor customer service

*2016-01-03, version 1.4.2*

I bought this after reading a blog on best iPhone apps for kindergarteners. It says In the app guide itself also that there is a multiplayer option and it gives instructions it says nothing about only being for iPad but when I emailed support the person was not helpful and said I just need to "deal with Apple" I want a refund this is pathetic.

### 1/5 — Disappointed Teacher!

*2013-01-19, version 1.3.2*

I am very disappointed in this game. According to the description there is supposed to be variety and go from teaching beginning letters and sounds to introducing sight words. From what I Have seen this is not true. Most of the lessons are very similar just with a different letter or word group. I have found very little for my kids to do other than dragging a letter, "reading" a word that their is a picture of, or tracing letters. This is the most boring game I have bought for my kinders! I sure hope they make some improvements on an update.

### 2/5 — Reading raven

*2012-11-12, version 1.3.2*

This app was ok. My son finished in less than a week. I wish there were more levels for a paid app . In other words I would not recommend paying for this .

### 2/5 — Fun..but some issues

*2012-10-26, version 1.3.2*

I bought this app for two of
my children to use. It's fun and I I really think they are learning new things...but I have a BIG complaint..it freezes my iphone when they do the letter tracing activity. I have messaged them for support... I hope they resolve the issue...I also do not like the background noise when the program says the letter name. It makes it hard to hear the letter name..which is the point of the program. :/

### 3/5 — No option for multiple player profiles

*2017-03-12, version 1.4.2*

My kids seem to enjoy this and the lessons seem helpful. However, very frustrating that there is no option to add more than 1 player profile so that my children can start from where they last stopped playing. Guide says you can add up to 5 player profiles on options page button is missing for this.

### 3/5 — No multi-user functionality

*2014-11-12, version 1.4.2*

So far, my son (3.5) loves using this app for reading and phonics practice. I bought this app with the understanding there was multi-user functionality to allow my 4.5 y/o daughter her own set-up too, but it's not part of this app like the write-up said. Support page doesn't help. Disappointed, but I'll keep it for my son.

### 3/5 — Good app--but one problem!

*2013-08-12, version 1.3.2*

A very important part of this app is the letter tracing component, an valuable integrative aspect of the app design. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a option to change the manuscript from Zaner-Bloser to D'Nealian for the increasing number of children learning that style. PLEASE ADD A D'NEALIAN OPTION to avoid penmanship confusion!!!!!

### 3/5 — Ok

*2013-03-01, version 1.3.2*

This app is ok, I like it because my kids like it, I wish they didn't reward with stickers every time they accomplish one thing, my kids like to move the stickers around and not complete the lessons

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best reading app

*2026-01-14, version 1.5.1*

I’ve taught two of my children to read using this app and fully intend to use it for our third. We’ve tried others but they are nowhere near as good as this app. It’s targeted and specific enough to really be focused on learning to read. It’s also fun and engaging. My kids loved it. It was never a fight to get them to do it and so effective. Coupled with reading beginner learning books this app is incredible. I highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Good

*2025-05-01, version 1.5.1*

Best reading app I’ve ever found

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2025-01-29, version 1.5.1*

I have taught all three of my kids to read using this app as a tool. My youngest just finished level 5 and will be moving on to levels 6-10 as a right of passage.

### 5/5 — Best learn to read app out there

*2023-04-19, version 1.5.1*

I’ve tried several different learn-to-read apps, and this is by far and away the best one in my opinion. It teaches children to read phonetically in a fun and engaging way. My four year old loves it and has learned a lot. I’m glad they came out with Volume 2 and hope they come out with several more volumes.

### 5/5 — I’m just a kid but I love it

*2020-12-07, version 1.5.1*

I’m having trouble with reading so my mom download it with this game it was really fun and I really like it if any teachers are reading this you should definitely download it for your kids it’s really fun :)

### 5/5 — One of the best

*2019-02-11, version 1.5.0*

I’ve used reading raven for multiple children and it’s one of the best reading apps. It’s progression is well thought out and kids have a good time getting to record their own voices reading. I’ve recommended this app to several other parents.

### 5/5 — Daughter loves it!

*2015-04-29, version 1.4.2*

My daughter loves this game!

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2015-04-12, version 1.4.2*

My daughter loves this and she is learning!

### 5/5 — My girl loves this App

*2014-12-01, version 1.4.2*

My girl of 5 years loves this app. She dont need my help to understand the app . She make every lesson by her own.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app! Rich & simple functionality

*2014-10-28, version 1.4.2*

Well done developers this maybe the best learning app I've come across...

A great progression through different stages of :: recognizing letters words pictures sounds all the ways through to a neat method for child to listen to phonics & repeat and playback via microphone

My four year old loved it and picked up & recalled new things in one session - I was actually amazed!

Big thumbs up & genuine 5 stars!
