It makes the app clunky and does not flow like the previous version. Come on developers look at all the previous reviews from the recent update… It’s really not good and needs to be changed,,, ### 2/5 — Not so good after update *2026-08-18, version 14.2.0* Dislike intensely new layout. Update 4 Aug. I have been using this app now since the merger it has not improved and I keep losing my TV & Streaming Week, it is not showing in my searches. Time to go after over 10 years of subscribing ### 1/5 — What happened? *2026-07-28, version 14.2.0* Used to be a good app but has now been reduced to what I can only describe as garbage. There is no variety, is failing miserably at being of any interest… did they decide to kill off their own app? Because if they did, they are doing so successfully. will take my money elsewhere ### 2/5 — It used to be great. *2026-07-28, version 14.2.0* Like most of the other reviews here, I agree that this app is very much a downgrade from the previous one. As well all the downloads missing after the “upgrade”, we’ve now also lost the ability to label bookmarks. I had dozens of bookmarks in the old app, all with a label so I could easily find them. Now most of them are missing and the ones that remain plus new ones have no label whatsoever so I have to open them all to find the one I want. I used to recommend this app to anyone I could as it’s one of the very few things I subscribe to, but until the app is improved I won’t bother. — EDIT 26/7/26 — Despite the app developers’ reply, it is NOT possible to label bookmarks in the new app. I was advised by their support team that it was and when I corrected them they confirmed it was not yet possible. It seems the review team are reading from the same script. Very shoddy. — EDIT 28/07/26 — So after my previous update, the support team came back to tell me that it is possible to add descriptions to bookmarks. It was the same tired script they told me a couple of months ago, ie hit the bookmark icon and type a description, except this is what used to happen in the OLD app. The new app does not allow this and when I replied with this response in my first support interaction I was given the following reply: “Thank you for your message and for the clarification. I sincerely apologize for the confusion in my previous response. You are absolutely right — this feature is no longer available in the current version of the application. Our team is actively working on improving the app, and your feedback is very valuable to us. It’s possible that features like adding descriptions to saved favorites may be reintroduced or redesigned in future updates.” It seems some of the support team are not even aware of how the app works! ### 4/5 — Love Readly, dislike new 2026 App *2026-07-28, version 14.2.0* Love Readly, its the App I recommend the most to friends. BEWARE! *2026-08-23, version 14.2.0* I used to enjoy this app, but since the update and possible new ownership, it’s been terrible. First, my original information in the app has been wiped and reset. Second, I haven’t been able to log in to my correct account since the recent update. Worse, when I ask for help, I receive responses in another language. Third, because I can't access my account, I haven’t used the app at all, yet today I received a bill. Scam central! This new company doesn’t seem to care enough about its customers to even send support information in the right language. BEWARE!! ### 1/5 — What’s Going On? *2026-08-15, version 14.2.0* No where near as easy to use as the old app, but working fine until this morning, when my account stopped being recognised, and upon reinstalling the app, I now get a message saying there is an error, and to come back later….. ### 1/5 — Abysmal new app. *2026-08-15, version 14.2.0* I found BorrowBox instead. With a library card its all free. 90% of same magazines/newspapers, and some Readly doesnt have. For FREE. So leaving after years. ### 1/5 — Waste Of Money *2026-08-14, version 14.2.0* Got this through my EE subscription I am so glad I didn’t cancel apple what a complete and utter waste of time and money £12.99 a month to read part of an article then you can purchase the magazine if you want to read the rest of it it’s a joke. Apple £14.99 a month and totally unlimited reading plus a bigger choice of papers and magazines I actually wrote to their customer services to see if there was actually something wrong with the app as expected no reply was received. Do not waste your money ### 1/5 — Cancel *2026-08-14, version 14.2.0* Trying to cancel with these guys is a nightmare, every excuse going back and forth and still can’t cancel my subscription. I will not join them again! ### 1/5 — Abysmal App and Customer Service *2026-08-12, version 14.2.0* 4 months ago Readly offered me a 20% 3 months reduction on my subscriptions because I was unimpressed with the new App. Needless to say after 4 months waiting for them to implement the reduction they eventually told me they could not honour the offer as I had subscribed via the Apple App Store. The could only give the reduction if I cancelled my Apple subscription and took it out via the Readly App. Fat chance of doing that after reading how difficult other Subscribers had in trying to cancel their Subscriptions. And the App is still useless and they flatly refuse to admit defeat and agree they got it all wrong. And instead of continually stating they bringing in further enhancements why don’t they just reinstate the old App. Then 95% of their subscribers would be happy bunnies ### 1/5 — Puzzles *2026-08-09, version 14.2.0* Very disappointed that this new version does not allow you to fill in crosswords and other puzzles in selected newspapers & puzzle books. Despite the response from Readly that they now include a puzzle section, this does not compensate in any way the loss of being able to type in answers to crosswords etc. that used to be possible. Then they increase the price!!! ### 1/5 — What happened to a lot of the magazines??? *2026-08-07, version 14.2.0* I thought the update was pretty atrocious but now the magazines I have enjoyed reading for years are no longer available to read. You get a notification if you have managed to previously download it saying that you have enjoyed a free preview now you have to pay for it. No doubt given how appalling your reviews have been publishers have probably had enough and don’t want to be associated with a sinking ship. The time has come to bail out and cancel my subscription. ### 1/5 — Used to be good, but not anymore. *2026-08-07, version 14.2.0* I’ve had Readly for a few years now. A recent update has changed the format of newspapers so features such as crosswords do not work anymore. Also trying to find and update editions is onerous and not intuitive. Because of all the recent issues, I decided to cancel the subscription…. …. Wenn man sich mal überlegt wie viel eine normale Zeitschrift kostet, ist das wirklich ein Schnäppchen. Ich lese jeden Morgen ein neues Magazin. Noch preiswerter wird das Ganze, wenn man es mit anderen Freunden teilt. Das geht prima, weil man bis zu 5 Unterkonten anlegen kann ⭐️schade finde ich nur, dass man seit dem letzten Update keine Kreuworträtsel mehr ausfüllen kann. Ich hoffe, dass das bald behoben wird. Auch die erste Version von Readly war unreif (meine Meinung). Mit der neuen Version hat sich vieles, fast alles, geändert: Übersichtlich, schnell, viele hilfreiche Features geschickt eingebaut, Popup-Hilfe und synct lückenlos. Sprich auszufüllen. ### 5/5 — Great content - just a few features to make it better *2026-06-22* I love all the content - I would love to see an even bigger library (could even include editions of the supermarket magazines like Asda as they do with Sainsburys) but for me there are two things that would make it exponentially better: 1 - stop downloading magazines as soon as I open them. Let me choose if I want to download them to read offline myself. 2 - a tick feature (similar to the one that is present when you download) that indicates this is an issue you have previously read. There is a lot of content on there and it’s impossible to remember what you have and haven’t read.
