### 3/5 — Bon mais…

*2024-05-22*

### 4/5 — Would’ve subscribed

*2023-06-14, version 2.93*

If only if it displayed spritz reader in chunks of words, single words are too fast rather use my peripheral vision.

### 2/5 — Never been able to figure it out

*2022-12-14, version 2.93*

Had this app forever, can’t figure out how to load books. Tried several ways. Time to look for other similar apps. Bummer

### 2/5 — Disgusted

*2022-10-28*

Whilst I am happy to see the sync feature added, I am now disgusted to see that the developer wants to charge me every month for its use. I have already purchased the app, and I don't want to have to keep paying for it again and again. What is even worse, is that I updated to the latest release as soon as it became available, and found that my registration was cancelled...I thought nothing of it at the time, so just re registered. Hours later I get a message, saying that I have to pay continuously? Perhaps it was in the small print? I understand the need to be paid for work, and I understand the model of subscription to support that. I am an author, but I can't ask my readers to pay me just a little more every month to have the ability to read a book they already paid for. Instead I have to create more books and hope that they buy those too. The developers of mymovies, created a much improved release and offered it at a one time upgrade cost to get access to the new features, and to fund their work. I can go with that, but will not to it monthly for as long as I want to use it. If I have inadvertently "signed up" to this monthly charge by reregestering, please CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION IMMEDIATELY. Please confirm that you have received this instruction. I love your software, and would have happily paid a one off cost to support its development. I will look for another app that supports the spritz technology. Update October 2022 App kicked me out (I’d paid for lifetime access), my password failed even though it was right (which happens frequently). Clicked reset password 3 times in 2 days…nothing. Emailed support, and got an auto responder. Again, nothing. Brilliant when it works, sadly that’s not very often and support don’t even respond.

**Developer response:** You loved the software but lost Lifetime access, were repeatedly rejected by the correct password, received no reset email and no human help—after already objecting to paying monthly for features. That history made “disgusted” understandable. ReadMe! v2 rebuilds accounts and entitlement recognition after 12 years. We’d value hearing whether your proper account now restores trust: https://v2.readmei.com

### 2/5 — In serious need of an overhaul

*2021-02-06*

I’ve had ReadMe! for years - since before you had to pay for it. It’s still just a basic reading app. I got it because I wanted to try Spritz - which itself has issues. Even after years of availability, the library STILL cannot be sorted. If you are an avid reader as I am, you have thousands of books. Imagine trying to find a particular book. Now imagine remembering the book but not remembering the author’s name or the book title. You have to sort through thousands of titles until you maybe see something that reminds which book you’re thinking of.

The developer should have provided us with sorting capability YEARS ago - sort by title, sort by author, sort by category.... and that’s another issue. There is no way to categorize your books. The bookshelf should have been able to have categories assigned - fiction, non-fiction, young adult fiction, children’s fiction (where the books I write listed), science fiction, non-fiction biographies, non-fiction autobiographies, history - you get the picture.

This is still just a basic app with limited capability. At least Apple’s iBooks gives you the ability to create categories to put your books under. Perhaps the developers should look at iBooks and Marvin for examples of what a reader should be able to do....

**Developer response:** Thousands of books without sorting, search by title or author, or useful categories made the library unfit for an avid reader—and years without those basics justified your call for an overhaul. ReadMe! v2 is exactly that: a ground-up rebuild of the library and reader after 12 years. We’d especially value your experienced eye on finding and organising books now: https://v2.readmei.com

*2020-10-18*

### 1/5 — useless instructions

*2020-09-29, version 2.91*

don't bother with this, great tech used for greedy purposes. no you can't have my email ! be great if you could open items on your device

### 4/5 — Love the app but no annotation function

*2020-08-13*

I love this app, it is a must for university. If only it’s possible to 1) be easier to annotate/take notes within app, 2) better management system (i.e. have options to create multiple bookshelves/tags), it’d be perfect!

**Developer response:** Calling ReadMe! a university must-have while asking for in-book notes and shelves or tags shows how central organisation is to serious study. That thoughtful request has stayed relevant through 12 years of work on ReadMe! v2. We’d love to hear how the rebuilt library supports your academic reading now: https://v2.readmei.com

### 4/5 — Nice but needs improvement

*2020-07-23*

I cannot put 3 stars only because there are basically no alternatives, but the fact that you cannot see the extension format of your books is really annoying, plus when reading spritz from .pdf there are way too many typos that are not even present in the file itself, as if the pages were just pictures and you would scan for text instead of taking the text itself from the file

**Developer response:** You gave the app credit despite few alternatives, while clearly identifying hidden file formats and PDF text errors that looked like poor OCR. ReadMe! v2 rebuilds supported-book importing and the reader from 12 years of lessons, with clearer library information. We’d value your technical assessment of the new foundation: https://v2.readmei.com

### 3/5 — UI and Design Update, Please

*2020-02-17, version 2.89*

I was a premium user before. I downloaded the app again today.

The technology is superb, but the UI and overall design need a major update. It feels like using apps from the early days of iOS. Navigating and usage feel slow.

*2020-01-10*

### 1/5 — Difficult to import stuff

*2020-01-06, version 2.89*

It’s a vehicle to get you to pay to download books. It seems to go out of it’s way to inhibit you from loading your own PDF’s. Such a shame, because the Sprirz read technology really works very well and I would love to use it.it’s just awkward

### 1/5 — Very bad software

*2019-12-01, version 2.89*

Horrible software and very bad customer service paid subscription and can unblock it to use it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Getting the app

*2026-08-20*

I wish I could figure out a way to get it.

**Developer response:** You download it on the AppStore. Please see our support channels if you have any questions https://v2.readmei.com

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all. Needs account to do anything

*2026-05-26, version 3.0*

Don’t bother

### 1/5 — They ruined this app

*2025-11-06, version 3.0*

Why did you ruin this amazing app? It used to show you one word at a time, where the focus was in the middle of the word, and you could set the speed or wpm. This no longer lets you see one word at a time, it is only 5 words or more, which makes this app garbage, absolutely useless. The whole point was to speed read using the spritz system. I could absorb 500 words per minute, but now they ruined this app delete

### 1/5 — Removed the feature I bought it for (Spritz)

*2025-03-28, version 3.0*

I’ve enjoyed this app for years. I originally purchased it to speed read books using their spritz focus mode. Now that mode has been removed, so the app has no use to me.

### 1/5 — Why did you remove Spritz ?

*2024-08-08*

What’s the point without Spritz ? That was the reason I bought the app . Also I bought the lifetime version but after a year it asked me to upgrade for more money .

**Developer response:** You bought ReadMe! for Spritz, then saw that defining feature removed and your Lifetime purchase followed by another upgrade request. Asking “what’s the point?” was entirely fair. Spritz is back in ReadMe! v2, rebuilt from the ground up after 12 years, and Lifetime access is recognised through the correct ReadMe! account. We’d value your return: https://v2.readmei.com

*2023-11-08*

-

### 1/5 — Buggy, unable to access feature

*2022-04-07, version 2.92*

It went through the intial setup but once I get into the book and flipped a few pages, the toolbar & menu diasppeared.

The File, Edit menus have nothing and theres nowhere else to look/click rendering this nothing more than any old e-reader app

### 1/5 — Impossible d’ajouter un epub

*2021-11-24*

### 1/5 — Not reliable, developer had years to fix. Still has not.

*2021-05-14, version 2.92*

I contacted support, and received confirmation that they knew about this issue: your book does not continue at the same spot of you close the book and come back, or if you close the app and come back.

It seems absolutely unforgivable that a reading app cannot continue on the page I left off on.

It has been year after year and they have still not fixed this issue.

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2021-04-19, version 2.91*

Great tech, subscription model for tech I previously purchased is poor business. The need to be logged in to achieve higher speeds is, frankly, stupid as is the need to be online to use the app - great tech wrecked by greed and manipulative practices.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s back and it’s brilliant!

*2026-08-16*

I’d stopped using this a while back because Spritz was no longer available. I’ve never found a decent replacement since. Now Spritz is back, this is a superb reading tool again.

**Developer response:** Thank you for coming back after Spritz disappeared—and for calling ReadMe! a superb reading tool again now that it has returned. ReadMe! v2 is the complete rebuild those 12 years led to. Once you have spent more time with the new reader, we would genuinely love to hear which part feels most improved: https://v2.readmei.com

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2021-05-25, version 2.92*

Love this app! Easy and straight forward to navigate with a user friendly design. Also a really decent price considering the features that are included. This is (I believe) the only app of this sort that I’ve been able to find that has these features that can be applied to your own documents (as opposed to only within safari. It’s perfect for anyone that needs to read documents and wants to avoid computer eye strain, or users with reading disabilities difficulty focussing whilst reading. Thank you!

I also have some requests/suggestions for features please 😊
- Please please please: I would love to see a Mac version of this app (I’m a student and this would make it so much easier to read research journals on my laptop etc)
- A feature that would allow the user to highlight phrases within books/documents.

Thanks again to the developer 😊

### 5/5 — Made a huge difference to my life

*2021-01-28*

The rate that I can go through books using Spritz on this app is astonishing compared to how fast I was reading before. I would suggest having a notebook or note-taking app while using it, so you can remember and revise anything particularly important in each book you read. If exportable clippings like the feature in Kindle could be implemented into the app it might be even better.
I also wonder whether having a button to speed up or slow down the current WPM rate might be useful, like +50 -50 etc. As not all passages are equally easy to read.

The ePub reader itself works very smoothly, and is good for examining passages at your own pace.

**Developer response:** It is powerful to hear that Spritz transformed your reading pace while the smooth EPUB view still let you examine difficult passages. Your ideas for clippings and ±50 wpm controls understood that not every passage is equal. ReadMe! v2 builds on 12 years of that insight, and we’d love your view of its new controls: https://v2.readmei.com

### 5/5 — My Favorite Reading App

*2020-06-14, version 2.89*

I’ve tried them all, and ReadMe! gets it right! Terrific library management and four different modes of reading make this well suited for me - traditional, focus, BeeLine, and Spritz all in one app.

*2020-05-25*

### 5/5 — Great Value!

*2019-11-30, version 2.89*

I had initial issues, but they were fixed and the developers responded quickly.

### 5/5 — Solid spritz app

*2019-06-03, version 2.85*

I found this through their online portal and have used it for years, it’s pretty solid and any questions are answered quickly by the team. Complaining about the pay system I get if you don’t want to pay for anything, but if you’ll pay for Spotify and things why not reading? Equally there is a limited free version anyway!

### 5/5 — Simple idea really works

*2019-06-03*

I was sceptical about the benefit but tried it and was surprised at how this app quickly became my go to for reading anything over the 20 page mark.
The new trend for everything being hired into the future is annoying and i ended up buying an old fashioned lifetime licence...so we shall see how the upgrades develop.

**Developer response:** You began sceptical, then made ReadMe! your default for anything over 20 pages—that conversion says more than any sales pitch. We also heard your frustration with renting software forever and your cautious Lifetime purchase. Twelve years of development led to the rebuilt ReadMe! v2. We’d love to hear how those upgrades ultimately turned out for you: https://v2.readmei.com

### 5/5 — The best app on planet earth!

*2019-06-03*

I have a short attention span so it’s not easy focusing on books without being easily distracted.
ReadMe! changed everything, now I can read for hours, it never happened before! The app has a feature called, Focus, it is a tool that makes my intellectual life a reality.

Although I don't know the wonderful people behind this masterpiece app I feel like one of them because I recommend it to everyone.

There are some bad reviews here, I just don’t think that they were talking about the same app that I’ve been using since 2017. Last week, I upgraded to a lifetime member; it was the best thing I’ve done in 2019.

**Developer response:** Your description of Focus turning a short attention span into hours of reading—and making your intellectual life feel possible—is extraordinary. Recommending ReadMe! as if you were part of the team meant a lot. Twelve years later, ReadMe! v2 is rebuilt throughout, and we’d be honoured to hear your thoughts: https://v2.readmei.com

### 5/5 — Great app for me

*2019-06-02, version 2.85*

I have had no problems with this app and love it. I’m a non reader and it helps me focus on the story and to concentrate. I am happy to pay for the service and recently upgraded to Lifetime member after testing it out over a few months on a monthly paid service. Great app for me
