I didn’t intend to subscribe but I chose to and will continue! This has been an amazing experience and contribution to my littles affinity with reading. We incorporate the prints, and always take the quizzes (the littles LOVE the quizzes)! The other language options are helpful as they are learning multiple languages. The best part is there are stories for all the ages of my littles. The stories are fantastic, loaded with wit or wisdom. The youngest (3) loves the series of multiple books. The kids love earning their badges too! What a fantastic find. In der App sind leider nur ein Titelbild dabei. Die eigentliche Geschichte besteht leider nur aus text. Die idee dies geschichte beim vorlesen aufzunehmen und erneut abspielen zu können ist ganz nett, aber kinderbücher ohne gleichzeitige Illustrationen zur Geschichte gehen bei mir am Thema vorbei. My kids enjoy the sound effects during the stories, and that interactive audio element helps make up for the lack of illustrations/images. It makes story time feel more engaging than plain reading, and the idea behind the app is thoughtful. However, the English story writing and editing need significant improvement. Many stories feel mechanically translated rather than naturally written for children. The grammar is usually acceptable, but the sentences are often long, awkward, and difficult to read aloud. In several stories, I had to stop and re-read lines just to understand what the author was trying to say. The age ratings also feel questionable at times. Stories marked for young children often use dense vocabulary, adult-style phrasing, and complicated sentence structures. Even when the concept is good — like stories about germs, teeth, postmen, geography, courage, or bedtime imagination — the actual prose often feels under-edited and not properly localized for English-speaking children. For example, one story marked 5+ uses phrases like “School of Bacteria, Germs, Rot and Assorted Blights,” “what-have-you,” “terrorised the human pupils,” and “interdental sword,” which may be fun conceptually but is not always smooth or natural bedtime reading. Overall, the app has a lovely idea and the sound-based storytelling is enjoyable for kids, but the English content needs professional children’s editing. With better localization, shorter sentences, simpler wording, and stronger read-aloud rhythm, this could be a much better children’s story app. **Developer response:** Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a detailed feedback. We also agree with your points regarding sentence length, rhythm, and read-aloud flow in some English stories - these aspects are important, and we are continuously working on writing the new stories the best way we can, while also revisiting older ones over time. Three apps before readmio promised this with a trial and fee. Another thing I liked was reading the books out loud and the sound affects happening with certain words. My daughter loved that part. ### 5/5 — Eine wirklich schöne App mit viel Potenzial *2026-08-29* Ich finde die Readmio-App insgesamt richtig gelungen. Die Geschichten sind toll aufbereitet, und besonders praktisch finde ich die ungefähren Zeitangaben – gerade für die Abendroutine. Schön finde ich auch, dass man selbst vorlesen kann, was eine tolle Verbindung zu den Kindern schafft. Gleichzeitig kann man die Geschichten auch einfach als Hörspiel laufen lassen, wenn es abends mal stressiger ist. Musik und Geräusche sind bei einigen Geschichten schon richtig schön und entspannend, könnten an manchen Stellen aber noch etwas besser auf die Handlung abgestimmt werden. Besonders gut gefallen mir die Quizfragen am Ende. Die Kinder lernen ganz nebenbei, genau zuzuhören und das Gehörte zu verstehen. Mit meinen drei Kindern (3, 5 und 10 Jahre) merke ich, wie unterschiedlich die Aufgaben je nach Alter sind – und genau das finde ich toll. Auch die Mischung aus Märchen, Fabeln und anderen Geschichten gefällt mir. Sagen, kleine Anekdoten oder lustige Schelmgeschichten würde ich mir noch zusätzlich wünschen. Insgesamt ein tolles Konzept, das ich gerne weiter nutze.
