## What is ReadStar?

ReadStar – Now with Phonics Games and Teacher Mode

ReadStar teaches your child to read — one word at a time — and now includes interactive rhyming and spelling games, more words, customizable voices and a star shop to make learning fun.

Built for children ages 3–6, ReadStar listens as your child reads aloud using your device’s built‑in speech recognition. No internet connection is needed for learning; audio is processed on‑device to protect your child’s privacy .

How it works
• Your child sees a word on a flashcard.
• They tap the mic and read it. ReadStar listens and awards a star for correct pronunciation. If it’s off, the card gently shakes and the word is repeated with phonics hints.
• After mastering a set of words, your child unlocks a personalised storybook filled with the words they’ve learned. They can read along with word‑by‑word highlighting and celebrate their progress.

What’s inside
• 140+ sight and phonics words across nine learning phases, from simple CVC words to blends, digraphs, r‑controlled vowels, multisyllabic words and high‑frequency sight words.
• On‑device speech recognition — reading practice happens privately on your device; no accounts, ads or tracking .
• Rhyming and spelling games that reinforce phonemic awareness. Kids can tap or speak rhyming words and spell learned words by selecting letters. Correct answers earn stars to spend in the star shop.
• Personalised storybooks generated after each milestone. Your child reads stories using only the words they’ve mastered, with real‑time highlighting and comprehension questions.
• Voice selection and pronunciation support — choose from built‑in voices and hear sample sentences before selecting; ReadStar uses a custom pronunciation dictionary for tricky words.
• Star rewards and shop — children earn stars for correct answers and spend them on colourful themes, avatars and other fun rewards.
• Teacher and parent tools — track each child’s progress, manage multiple learners, export progress reports and customise accessibility settings (dyslexia‑friendly fonts, high contrast).
• Expanded free trial — explore the first 20 words and your child’s first personalised book for free. Unlock everything with a single one‑time purchase; no subscriptions.

Designed for kids and parents
ReadStar is ad‑free, social‑free and account‑free. A kid‑proof parent gate locks settings and purchases. The voice engine works offline, and you can preview voices and record your own pronunciations (optional). ReadStar was created by a parent and tested with real children to ensure it’s intuitive and motivating.

### 5/5 — Refreshing app

*2026-04-23*

This app has been exactly what my son needed. It’s easy to navigate and does a great job of giving positive encouragement, which really helped him feel confident and comfortable using it. He’s been fully engaged from the start. It’s simple, but honestly essential—and he hasn’t put it down in the last two days.

**Developer response:** Glad your son enjoyed it!

### 5/5 — Excellent concept and execution

*2026-04-17*

Easy for little kids to use. It provides a straightforward reward for them as they advance. Word by word. Building sentences and books.

**Developer response:** Appreciate the Feedback!

### 5/5 — Personalized e-book for the win!

*2026-04-17*

Met the developer at a booth today and immediately downloaded it for my daughter. She loves the positive affirmations when she gets the word right and how it makes her a personalized e-book made primarily with the words she mastered. Also the full version was 4$, I thinks it’s worth a lot more.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback !
