It seems to do maybe a 30% blend of the new face image - i.e. it still looks mostly like the original face. Not sure if the AI would benefit from multiple source images, but I had really hoped the app would have had the ability to render a whole new face in the video. And no support online, no discussion forum, tips etc. ### 2/5 — Great App only 50% completed *2024-10-25* Updating my prior review. This is a great simple app that works very well. It works locally, so no need to establish an on-line account. It's very fast. The only drawback is the lack of documentation, so it took me some trial and error to understand. The file exchange is your Photos app. This is where you upload and download your videos and images. ### 2/5 — Great App only 50% completed *2024-09-07* Face replacement is pretty good, but app has little flexibility to control files. You can only use files in Photo. Why not just pull a file from the desktop??? I still haven't figured out how to save a completed file. The app only provides, save to your "album", whever that may be??? Also, a bit more documentation. Except for these few loose ends, it works pretty well. Frustrating I can't save these fun videos ### 2/5 — Purchased but not applied to videos *2024-09-02* I purchased the lifetime subscription for the real time videos but for some reason it won’t do more than 3 sec on the deep video selection it keeps asking me to subscribe again, I even tried hitting restore my purchase but it says it can not find this in app purchase for my account. If I have to pay to the deep video as well then it’s misleading. **Developer response:** There are two separate features: The first feature allows you see deepfakes in real-time with your camera. The second feature allows you to create deepfake movies that can be saved to your device. Each feature is a onetime/lifetime purchase (not recurring subscriptions). We value your feedback! I deleted it due to storage issues and then redownloaded the app. Now it cuts off videos at 3 seconds in. You can make unlimited deepfakes again by doing the following: - Tap the switch at the bottom right of "Deep Video" - Tap "Restore my previous purchase" Done! The after results are pathetic and once you’re done with subscription the results take ample amount of time to load and app mostly crashes and lag. Indeed, there are two payments to unlock the full app - one for unlimited deepfakes with no time constraints and the other to unlock the “Live” feature. However, once paid, these features are yours to keep and there is no subscription - which is great! Also, all video processing is done on the device and not uploaded to a server. That said, take note of the developer’s recommendations for devices that can run the app well. Quality-wise is does a great job maintaining facial features. The resolution around the eyes and mouth could use improvement, however considering that it’s processed on the device itself it is quite impressive. The app offers an “Ideas” feature that allows you to deepfake preselected videos so you can how it performs, along with the option to upload 3 seconds of your own videos. Cheers! ### 5/5 — Great App and Dev Team *2023-06-22* Don’t let the negative reviews deter you - I believe Real Deep to be one of the best apps of its kind. Indeed, there are two payments - one to unlock unlimited access/time to create deepfakes and the other is for a “Live” option. However, once paid they are yours to keep and require no subscription - which is great! Similar apps will charge a yearly subscription that’s more than these two one time payments. Also, your content is local and does not get uploaded to a server - all processing is done on the device itself. That said, pay close attention to the recommended devices. Newer devices, especially those with a M1/M2 chip and 6/8GB will fair better. The “Live” option especially is taxing on hardware and can warm the device if used for too long. Quality-wise, I think it does a very good job maintaining facial feature accuracy. There can be some improvement to the resolution of the eyes and teeth in some instances, but overall looks great and is very impressive for what the app/device can do. There is an “Ideas” features that allows you to deepfake preselected videos to see if you’re happy with the results along with the option to upload a 3 second video of your choosing. The Dev Team is also great - they’ll help if you have issues and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Also, they’ll consider new features for the app down the road. Love that it does all the work locally and in real time. Certain angles work better than others. You have to experiment to get the most seamless output. Sometimes it crashes or has stability issues.
