I know a RECORDER is in the flute family. But it is not a flute. Second of all, the game does not give you any instructions whatsoever. It just has you choose a recorder and play. Basically, you play it by holding the mouth piece and click on the holes to make it make a sound. But what I really don’t like is the fact that that’s not even the right noise that it makes. For example, when you click on the alto recorder, and click on the note B, it makes the sound of the note F. And the pitch goes up when it’s supposed to go down every hole that goes to the end of the recorder. This game is supposed to be a tutorial on how to play the recorder and fun but teaches you nothing. Its easy, simple to use interface welcomes the user with not one, not two, but THREE different options to play. Lest I undermine my own credibility, I should concede that, speaking in the strictest of terms, that this is, in fact, a RECORDER simulator. Do not let that dissuade you. While it is indeed difficult to replicate the actual recorder-playing experience, I found it easy to get up and running in seconds. Within a minute or two, I was happily blowing recorder classics, such as “Hot Cross Buns,” “When the Saints Go Marching In,” and the Harry Potter theme song. The other reviewers are likely faithful to lesser windwood simulator apps, or possibly simply marketing or development teams who failed to launch a competitive product. As mentioned before, do not let these reviews dissuade you. It is excellent.
