Checked if anyone had found a work around, nothing worked outside a recommendation to play on IPad instead. So much for the ending and final age I guess. ### 3/5 — No hints for when you get stuck *2025-02-27, version 1.3.3* And….I got stuck frequently. I had to use online walkthroughs to make it through the whole game. I prefer games that at least give you hints so you don’t have to go online and fine the whole answer. I always wanted to play this since I first saw it back in 1993 and couldn’t figure out what to do back then lol. I didn’t grow up with PC games so maybe thats a disadvantage to figuring this one out. I’ve played a lot of puzzle games and highly recommend the Forever Lost series! (Actually all their games are great) I also enjoyed Midnight Girl. ### 3/5 — Critical video did not appear *2023-09-05, version 1.3.3* I enjoyed replaying this game. Unfortunately there was one critical game play error. The first time I encountered Atrus, he said to come to D’ni right away, without giving his lengthy explanation, and most importantly, without the missing white page. Other than that everything worked fine, but I had to knock it down to 3 stars since that is such an important game failure. ### 3/5 — Good, but no longer recommended *2023-03-31, version 1.3.3* I was extraordinarily excited when realMyst released in 2000. It was like Myst but, well, more real. Ironically, the original Myst held up over time better than this version. The game itself is actually more solid than the 1993 version. The puzzles, environment, and audio hold up quite well. realMyst boasts true 3D movement, which is a huge improvement over the original game, simply from a navigation standpoint. The original Myst had occasions where a player could easily get lost due to not being able to see a clear transition from one location to the next. When you control your own movement, that obstacle is removed. While the 3D graphics impressed in 2000, today they’re somewhat lackluster. Detail and view distance are pretty sparse, and the texture quality is pretty grainy with some embarrassing color “speckles” in walls and doors. The major appeal of this version of Myst is the inclusion of the Rime age. Originally included in realMyst, Rime was built with this engine in mind and while small, it’s enjoyable. It can be a bit tricky to figure out the controls for the puzzle on iOS though. In fact, this is the only version of Myst currently available for iOS that includes Rime, which might be enough to pursuance you to buy it. The biggest drawback, I think, for realMyst on iOS I think was the timing. This app was released in 2012, and was an iOS update to a 2000 title. Just two years later, realMyst Masterpiece Edition released. Masterpiece has vastly improved graphics, which were further updated years later. It also includes some new Easter eggs and achievements. Overall it’s superior to this app in every way unless you’re dead set on seeing the original 3D release. But, Masterpiece never appeared on iOS, and with the new 2023 edition on iOS out now, there’s no reason to expect they’d invest the resources to update this app to the Masterpiece Edition. Nearly everything that realMyst does, Myst 2023 does better. I have to find myself recommending that version unless you’re strictly here for the Rime age. ### 3/5 — No sound *2022-12-17, version 1.3.3* Looking forward to playing an old childhood favorite. But there is no sound. I see some similar reviews. I recall sound being one of and best aspects. ### 3/5 — Fortress rotation simulator *2022-12-10, version 1.3.3* Graphics are great!! I have only made it to the Mechanical Age. I have spent several hours trying to get the Fortress rotation Simulator to work. If you are going to try and play on an iPad Pro 10”, save your money. ### 2/5 — Abandonware. Don’t waste your money! *2022-10-11, version 1.3.3* Gamestopping bugs that were raised with the devs years ago can still stop your game in its tracks. Save your money, don’t buy this! ### 3/5 — Good but could use some work *2022-09-14, version 1.3.3* This is still the same old great Myst, it’s always intriguing. I think it could use a graphical update though m, it’s rough. The areas feel too condensed sometimes and you get stuck on parts of the environment. I hope one of these versions of the game will expand the environments someday and give us more stuff to interact with to enjoy the worlds. It’s be cool to just mess around in the worlds after you’ve competed the game with something to do besides walk around. Also the menu can be kind of hard to access since the newer iphones already have a swipe up to close. The white line for the “tabs” or “swipe up” never disappears so that’s annoying as well. Hopefully Myst 2021 will be out on PS5! ### 5/5 — Simply stunning a game for adults *2022-07-02, version 1.3.3* I'm so angry at the stupid 2 star reviews for a game that is just breathtaking in every way. No doubt these ppl would have suited candy crush. I only wish games today were this good, the room series are good but myst is the original. The part in the water that 1 reviewer thinks has crashed is part of the game! The generator switches off if you get it wrong.... I suggest buying a compass. The iOS games of today ppl are talking about just don’t compare to a game of this magnitude, they take no brain power, myst totally transports you to another world and gives me chills, so much work has gone into this world, I love everything about myst and am so grateful for the chance to experience a game I missed when younger for the price of a coffee! Thank you cyan! ### 2/5 — Ultimately, a Fail *2022-04-20, version 1.3.3* I played this game back in the dark ages, so I thought I’d try this version. It was a waste of money. First. I kept accidentally touching the bottom of the screen and pulling up the saved game screen. But the worst part of this version was that it gave me motion sickness. Unfortunately there was no sound, even after re installing. The movement mechanics are horrifically impossible to control, manipulating anything is a nightmare while attempting to flip a switch etc but you cant because you are not in that minuscule area that will allow you to interact with it. No sound, no water, no music etc and most importantly no settings to attempt to fix it. Waste of 6$ to get an app that should be error free after all these years, and the coup de grâce? This IPAD VERSION is horrible! It is very awkward getting around to say the least, much harder to play. But the corker was the fact that when you went about collecting the pages for the books, you could only bring back one at a time. So for all the gyrations you need to go to get the pages in each world, you need to do it twice. First two worlds weren’t bad, but when I got to Channelwood got one page, I think to myself, I am not doing that again because the stinking software only lets you carry one at a time! It stops being fun in a big hurry. IF YOU NEVER PLAYED THE COMPUTER VERSION DO IT IT’s GREAT. Wow yes. For the interface alone, plus the graphics. Awesome work, developers. At the moment, there's a bug in audio in the gear age when my walking is between the outside puzzle and the entry door--it goes silent until I reach either end. At the moment, the visual transition is bumpy in these places there are slidey doors: the gear age, and the ship age.
