### 4/5 — The Videos don’t load

*2023-08-21*

The videos don’t load or play it just buffers then I have to close the app down and lose my search. Don’t know if it’s a bug cos I’ve tried it with Wi-Fi and with 4G

### 2/5 — Needs so many more features to be useful

*2023-07-26*

I don’t get we can’t use our location on the app to sort reviews so we can look at providers near us. I go within a category that interests me and then have to look through all the providers. I’m on the east coast and the results go in the following order: Seoul, San Antonio, Illinois, Rio, Toronto. I know from the reviews there are tons of providers in NY and NJ but none of them show up for me.

I also can’t click through “my treatments” to get to the sections about those treatments. I have to look through my feed to see what I bookmarked as being interested in and then type it in the search bar. I can’t sort the reviews by “worth it” or not. The app basically has nothing I enjoy about the website. It all seems to show up at random and isn’t useful.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your feedback! While you’re not able to sort reviews by location, if you select "Providers" (at the bottom of the screen), you can type in the procedure you’re interested in and your location. This will show you a list of doctors in your area, and you can visit their profile pages to read all of their reviews.

The "My Treatments" section is a space for you to add any treatments that you're interested in. In order to select a specific treatment, from the home page, select "Filter by Treatment" to get a list of your selected treatments, which is applied to your feed.
We hope this is helpful!

### 2/5 — Glitchiest app I’ve ever used

*2023-04-07*

2 stars only because the concept and resources are amazing. But from a technical and UI standpoint this is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. You can’t see notifications, reviews and comments freeze, refresh, and disappear as you’re reading them, and sometimes you randomly get taken back to the home page without clicking anything! The browser version is way better than the app but even then, when you get a notification that someone commented or replied to you, when you click on it, it doesn’t even take you to the new comment!

**Developer response:** We’re sorry to hear about your experience using the app. We’d love to help troubleshoot any issues you’re experiencing. Please contact us by clicking “Me” > “Settings” > “Contact Us” in the app. We’re here to help!

### 4/5 — Useful content

*2022-07-02*

Really good content for anyone considering a procedure. Kind of awkward app though. Shows you recent reviews but difficult to find articles and search past content.

### 3/5 — Needs work, but helpful

*2022-06-28, version 6.4.7*

This resource has been helpful, but when I use it I feel like I’m in a stream of consciousness, it def needs some UI/UE upgrades. I really don’t like that it defaults to showing the nude photos and doesn’t save the blurred setting when you exit the app. I’ve been heavily researching and will open the app at work sometimes, and the nudes are back on. Yeah, prob shouldn’t open it at the office, but I s got research to do! I’m worried that someone will think I’m looking at porno haha. Also, for my specific condition, I think the app could help filter better. I have something called congenital breast deformity, aka Tubular breast, aka tuberous breast, aka constricted breasts, aka hypoplasia. This is such a specific condition and requires a skilled surgeon who’s familiar with correcting it. I wish we tubular girls had our own category so we could easily filter and find not only our community but the right surgeons.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the app! We love your ideas in regards to being able to save the “privacy eye” setting and providing more filtering options. Thanks for the suggestions!

### 3/5 — Research

*2022-06-25*

I’ve sent requests and pictures to various surgeons to further explore my options but have only heard back from one which is very frustrating.
Why is this the case?

### 3/5 — App is horrible

*2022-06-09, version 6.4.7*

I really love the concept of this app and what it’s supposed to do. It’s a great resource to further research plastic surgeons and procedures and see their verifications. However, its functionality is absolutely horrible, at times barely working. It glitches literally every time I use it. To the point I have to close the app. It’s impossible to scroll frequently or for an extended period of time because it constantly glitches. Other than that, this would be a great app. I’m giving 3 stars because this is the only app I use that literally never works. If it worked, it’d be 5 stars.

Developers - Can y’all please update this app for the sanity of anyone that uses it?

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that you’re experiencing some technical issues while researching your procedure and plastic surgeons. We’d be happy to help you in your research. Please reach out by clicking "Me" > "Settings" > "Contact Us" in the app.

### 3/5 — Fantastic app but crashes constantly

*2021-11-07, version 6.4.3*

No other apps on my phone do this so I know it’s not the phone. As soon as I try to search or select a search it crashes. Crashes other times too but I can basically only look at what’s on my feed can’t search for specifics

### 2/5 — crashing

*2021-10-16*

it keeps crashingggggggggg

### 2/5 — This app is crap, but it’s necessary.

*2021-10-04, version 6.3.7*

When you have a bug that persists MoM why do you even keep that branch of the application on prod? Just tell your users you hate them lol.

When attempting to play a video in any corner of this this application (uploaded from a patient or provider) the app stalls, leaving you with one option: to force quit. All the other actions become inoperable, and you’re stuck with a spinning wheel… until you force quit and have to start your research over.

I’ve been using this app for close to a year, and have never been able to play a video. There have been no major improvements to the search function, history or saved items and I would not describe the app as enjoyable to use at ALL — it is simply necessary, and actually quite frustrating if you’re attempting to research properly, cross compare practitioners and organize your plans.

### 3/5 — Cannot expand text to read full post

*2021-05-13*

You can’t see all the text when reading a comment or post. Cannot expand text

### 2/5 — Please fix comments

*2021-03-21, version 6.3.6*

Please fix trying to read replies to your comments. The thread just loads and loads and I can never see what people wrote on my questions or what I’ve written on other peoples. Very frustrating. There should also be an “thread” in the app to access the replies and comments also. Other than that I love the concept!!

### 2/5 — Random topics on my feed

*2020-01-26*

I follow some specific treatments on my feed so therefore have no idea why I constantly have to scroll through those which I do not follow.
This is very frustrating.

### 4/5 — I find the app a little hard to use but...

*2019-12-13, version 6.2.0*

I do like hearing stories and seeing pictures, but....
I almost always choose the stories with pictures.

The app makes me turn my iPad back and forth to read, and then to view...silly 1st world problem, but...
that problem does make me hesitate especially if I’m trying to be discreet.

The comma does not show up on this app’s keypad. It’s still under the exclamation point, but...

Thank you to all of you wonderful ladies who take time to share your journeys.
For those of us still on THIS side, it’s very helpful and encouraging.

I would be posting pictures of my own at this point, but...LOL...
That’s another story.

Hope to be joining you in 2020.
Thanks!

### 3/5 — Needs work, great platform

*2019-12-04, version 6.1.1*

This is one of the best and only apps and websites I have found to find details of other, real patient experiences. I love the insight I receive from it, anyone considering cosmetic surgery should probably use it, but the app itself has issues. You can’t edit anything once you post it. The app doesn’t seem to recognize what is your own content - my own reviews come up in my feed. Sometimes there’s difficulty posting media. There needs to be a better ability to search for content, like a forum with all doctor questions, etc. it automatically adds random treatments to “my treatments,” so photos I don’t want to see show up in the feed. I hope to see some promising updates because I do like the platform otherwise!

### 3/5 — Could use upgrades

*2019-09-15, version 6.0.2*

I really enjoy the idea of real people posting their real experiences with cosmetic surgery. However, the app isn’t really user friendly, doesn’t support HTML, hard to navigate. For example, reading a review, having to stop in the middle & upon returning its gone. Unless, I missed it, I’m not able to search site by “reviewer” to pick back up in their story.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Removes negative reviews

*2024-11-25*

Unfortunately many surgeons have their patients sign an NDA and if a negative review is posted they issue a takedown notice - RealSelf honours these and removed the negative review meaning even surgeons that botch people will have a 5 star rating. I don’t bother using this app once I realised it was useless.

### 1/5 — Bugs:

*2024-04-27*

1) App freezes always in the middle. I have to close it and open again. And when I open the review I was reading is gone. 2) When I open my feed the reviews don’t get sorted out by date. It’s very randomly like 2017 year when 2023.

### 1/5 — They Delete Bad Reviews

*2022-06-23, version 6.4.7*

It doesn’t matter how many good reviews a doctor has when one bad review can ruin everything. The people who designed this app and the doctors who use it know that. This app is definitely super useful if you’re in the beginning stages of your planning, and want to read real experiences from real people that are positive. However DO NOT choose your surgeon from this app. I was researching surgeons in my area and I contact someone I found on RealSelf. I brought up a bad review that I had seen and the nurse brushed me off. Later THAT SAME DAY went to find the review again and it had been deleted. If you’re considering plastic surgery make sure they are board-certified, and check reviews on Better Business Bureau, Healthgrades, Google, Yelp, ZocDoc, etc. DO NOT GO OFF OF THIS APP ALONE. I’m really disappointed in the creators of this app, it would be a 10/10 app if I didn’t know that they were deleting bad reviews.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your concerns. We understand how important all reviews are when researching providers and procedures. Reviews, whether positive or negative, can only be removed by the community member that posted it, or if the review violates RealSelf community guidelines. We also have board certification information listed for all doctors on their profile. Our admin team is constantly reviewing and updating this information so that you can feel confident while researching providers.

### 1/5 — Rubbish UI

*2022-02-14*

This app is horrible to use. No way to control what is in your feed. Search results by procedure type are not in chronological order (no option to sort by new) - mostly shows outdated posts, some as old as 2007 which is useless. Search for provider tool returns zero results, obviously doesn’t function correctly for Australia. Uploading pictures is a nightmare, can’t control how they are cropped, can’t go back to preview them after uploading. Posted a question for doctors to get a pop up saying my post will be uploaded within two days, like it really takes that long??! Also no way to view what I posted. This platform is garbage.

### 1/5 — The app doesn’t show the full review

*2021-03-16*

The website is Better than the app, the website shows updated questions , the app seems to only show old questions, and the app doesn’t show the entire answer . You should also be able to edit and add to your questions.

### 1/5 — Ethical issues to the max

*2020-12-02*

RealSelf deletes reviews from patients who have had serious medical complications following botched surgeries. Reviews from patients who rate their Doctors highly stay on the site. New users only see good reviews and so they book surgeries only to suffer serious medical complications and the cycle repeats. RealSelf makes money in the process.

### 1/5 — Would be zero stars if I could because of AnjaRealSelf

*2020-11-24, version 6.3.5*

I asked a perfectly reasonable question that had been asked MULTIPLE times before but I wanted to reask and attach a picture to get advice for my specific case. AnjaRealSelf decides she is a doctor and that I am asking about a sinus problem and that isn’t appropriate when I was asking why my eyes look like they are different sizes and if it is something cosmetic or something about my sinus. She didn’t even give the doctors a chance to say whether it looked cosmetic and just decided herself. Inappropriate and needs better moderation. Will be deleting this app because of AnjaRealSelf.

### 1/5 — Needs improvement

*2020-08-24, version 6.3.3*

Love the platform but my review is solely on the app (also the website). This app needs a lot of revamping. I suggest you hire a better team to work on UXUI to improve the usability of the product. I can list out so many things that need improvement for both app and site. It has been years and we still can’t edit our reviews, the app is so glitchy, when I scroll down to see people’e reviews, I often see repetitive reviews and photos, the notification feature is basically useless on the app, and VERY excessive on the website, and so on.

Maybe do a survey or have a team to improve and better our user experience because this is no doubt an amazing platform but I know it can be even better.

### 1/5 — False claims on Dr credentials, not trustworthy.

*2020-06-16*

Verified doctors need to be in good standing in terms of their medical license which realself claims to check every 3 months for a verified badge. However doctors with wrecked history involving sexual abuse of thousands of patients and restricted licenses are also labeled as verified!
Not to be trusted.

### 1/5 — FakeSelf

*2020-03-07, version 6.2.5*

They delete and censor so many comments when it’s unwarranted. They favor the doctors and try to hide bad reviews and botched surgeries because they want to encourage more people to have surgeries they don’t need. They prevent the community from helping you when you are botched. They don’t allow you to share links or send photos or videos in private messages, the app looks really outdated with the lack of features.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This app is very helpful!

*2020-06-04, version 6.3.1*

You will find information about many surgery procedures, from doctors as well as patient testimonials. Easy to navigate. Many before and after photos available.

### 5/5 — Dr Peddy Ganchi

*2020-01-30, version 6.2.4*

### 5/5 — Excellence Time and Time Again

*2019-12-13, version 6.2.0*

I have been a patient of Dr Syed New U Medspa of Orlando for over 6 years. The Dr and his staff are A Plus. The office is constantly in Tune with the latest equipment, special pricing and advanced procedures... Visit his web page and SEE for yourself.. His specials are frequent and his hands are Magic.. Anywhere from Injectibles, his various laser equipment, NEO hair grafting, stem cell rejuvenation and the list goes on... I would Never trust another Dr and this man scores 10 plus. Angela Graver

### 5/5 — love the app even more

*2019-09-08*

thanks apple!

### 5/5 — Super informative and appreciated!

*2019-09-07, version 6.0.1*

I love this app because it’s real life people who are sharing their true experiences. This has been very helpful with doing my own personal research on deciding who I would like to get work done with as well as seeing real life outcomes from other women like me with similar before body types, for the procedure I am interested in learning more about before booking.

### 5/5 — Hopeful want to be patient

*2019-09-04, version 6.0.1*

Love seeing the results. I am 54 and wish I could see move on the day after the tummy tuck and the PAIN of it all. And why is the pain meds not helping. I have seen some recovering videos and the patient seems to be in so much pain. I would love some work on my stomach fat tissues and muscles but after observing the experience and I am getting turned off. It is very scary.

### 5/5 — Suggestion that will make real self and patients much happy

*2019-06-09, version 5.5.0*

I suggested this long time ago via email but I guess you don’t take customers feedback seriously or you guys really don’t care but to satisfy the people who use this app and have questions and for doctors to really examine before answering I suggested realself to collab with 3d/360 photo apps so doctors can move left right on their own and see the angles the depths the issues and give spot on analysis do take this into consideration

### 5/5 — Rhinoplasty with the realdrj

*2019-05-21, version 5.4.3*

I am going to be as honest as possible.
Dr JONOV and his team gave the absolute best bed side manner ever! I felt completely comfortable from the moment I walked in until I walked out and got into my car.
This team goes above and beyond any criteria to assist with patient detail.

I have had worked done in other locations and I always felt rushed to get up and get out, I’m assuming to prepare for the next patient. Not with this Dr. As patients we pay money for a service which unfortunately does not included bedside side manner.
Dr JONOV and his team are the best !
I will now be bringing my mom and friends to see him!
Oh btw my nose ! I’m only 4 days post op and I did not get any bruising !

I promise I had the best hands working on me!!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2019-04-29*

I wish they would show how many views to a post . Keep up the great work

### 5/5 — Share the knowledge!

*2019-04-13*

What an amazing App for helping others who decide to have Cosmetic Surgery!
