## What is Receipts?

Receipts does one thing: it tells you how much you've spent this month and how much you have left.

Set a monthly budget and add expenses as you go. To add one, type the amount on the keypad that opens right away, or take a photo of the receipt: the app reads the total and suggests it, and you confirm. The reading happens on your phone and the photo isn't sent anywhere.

The main screen shows what you've spent, what's left, whether you're spending faster than planned and how much you can afford per day until the end of the month. You can also look at the week or the year, and go back to previous months.

What's inside:
• Categories with an icon or emoji and, if you like, a monthly limit. You get a notification at 80% and when you go over.
• Planned expenses for rent, bills and subscriptions. On the due date you get a reminder and decide whether to record it. The app never adds anything on its own.
• Shared budgets for your home, your partner or a trip: invite anyone you like through iCloud and you all see the same expenses, who paid and who owes whom. Your personal expenses stay yours alone.
• Income (salary, refunds, gifts) so you can see your balance for the month.
• Investments: stocks, ETFs and funds found by name or ISIN, plus insurance policies or other products added manually. Update their value at the start of each month and see how each holding and your whole portfolio are doing, with your gain or loss.
• Budget extras or reductions for a single month. Whatever you don't spend can carry over to the next one.
• Statistics by category and by day of the week, plus the trend over the last 6, 12 or 24 months.
• Expenses in other currencies, converted with European Central Bank rates you can correct. When you travel, the app suggests the currency of the country you're in.
• Widgets for the Home Screen, Lock Screen and StandBy, including one to mark a due expense as paid with a tap.
• Apple Watch app: add an expense from your wrist, by voice too.
• Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight: just say "Add an expense in Receipts", and search for a shop in Spotlight to find its expenses.
• Apple Intelligence, on device: it suggests a category while you type and answers questions like "How much did I spend at the supermarket this year?".
• CSV export to open in Numbers or Excel, and import from any CSV, even your bank statement.
• Deleted something by mistake? Shake your iPhone, or press ⌘Z on the Mac, and it's back.

It works on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and your data syncs through iCloud. There's no account to create, no ads, and nobody collects your data: it stays on your devices and in your iCloud.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.0 — 2026-10-28

• Shared budgets: create a budget for your home, your partner or a trip and invite the people you spend with through iCloud. You all see the same expenses, who paid and who owes whom, with repayments, shared planned expenses, receipt photos and a notification when someone else adds an expense. Your personal expenses stay yours alone.
• Apple Watch app: add an expense from your wrist with the keypad or your voice, and see what's left of your budget, even in the complication.
• Apple Intelligence, on device: the app suggests a category while you type the note, and in “Ask About Your Spending” you can ask things like “How much did I spend at the supermarket this year?”.
• New widgets: “Due Dates” to mark a planned expense as paid with one tap, and quick add with your favorite categories.
• Import expenses from any CSV file, even your bank statement, and undo the import for 7 days.
• Share a PDF or a photo from Mail, Files or Safari: it becomes an expense with the document attached.
• Planned expenses in Calendar and Reminders, and a notification after every Wallet payment thanks to Shortcuts.
• On the Mac: add an expense from the menu bar and pick it up on your iPhone with Handoff.
• Spotlight finds your expenses by note, category or tag, and the search in the app now looks at tags too.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-10-26

• Investments in Balance: add stocks, ETFs and funds by searching their name, symbol or ISIN, or any other product manually, with the number of shares (fractions too) and, if you like, your average cost.
• On the first of each month the app reminds you to update the value of your holdings, one by one or all at once. Every value is kept: see a chart for each holding and for your whole portfolio, plus your gain or loss.
• Ready for iPhone Duo: the app uses the whole screen, folded or open.
• Switching months in Summary, Statistics and Balance is much faster.
• “Your year in spending” appears in Summary from 15 December to 15 January; in Statistics › Year you'll always find “Your year so far”.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-10-24

• New “Your year in spending”: a story in cards with your total, category of the year, most expensive month, spending style and more, to share as an image. In December and January you'll find it in Summary, and you can watch it again any time from Statistics › Year.
• Tags: label your expenses, for example with the name of a trip, and find them all together even across categories, from the Expenses list or from … › Tags.
• In the pie chart, selecting a category now also lists its expenses.
• More icons and emoji for categories, including drinks and nights out.
• If you add an expense while viewing a past period, “Other…” starts from the first day of that period.
• A snappier app, especially on older iPhones, and a new Lite mode in Settings with fewer animations and effects. The Delete button is now always red, whatever color you pick for the app.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-23

• Your budget now starts from the month of your first expense, so the years before you started using the app no longer count as savings. You can change it in Settings › Budget starts in.
• On iPhone and iPad you can choose the text size in Settings › Appearance. By default it follows your system setting, up to a maximum that keeps cards and charts readable.
• Saved expenses have a new Refund field: if you get money back, only the difference counts. CSV exports also have a Refund column.
• In Balance, the month-by-month table of income and expenses now shows every month in the chart and ends with a Total row: scroll it with the mouse wheel on Mac, or tap Show More on iPhone and iPad.
