## What is Recess?

Recess turns your phone into a shelf of brain games and party favourites you already know, to play with friends nearby or far away, or against the robot when you're on your own.

Open a table and send the code, let a friend scan the QR code, or find a table nearby on the same Wi-Fi or over Bluetooth, and you're playing. Nearby needs no internet at all. No account. No sign-up.

Familiar games, including:

• Chess: Full rules, an optional clock, with a friend or the robot.
• Chinese Chess (Xiangqi): River and palace included, with a friend or the robot.
• Go: Black and white stones, a few simple rules, and a game you can play for life.
• Mandarin Squares (Ô ăn quan): The Vietnamese schoolyard game of sowing stones and taking mandarins.
• Battleship: Hide your fleet, call coordinates and sink theirs.
• Plane Battle: Hide your planes and find the heads of theirs.
• Five in a Row: First to line up five wins.
• Tic-Tac-Toe: Quick, simple, and always "one more round".
• Rock Paper Scissors: No more arguing over who threw late.
• Sudoku: Solve alone, race a friend, or solve one grid together.
• Number Hunt: Find 1, 2, 3… faster than your friend.
• Number Match: Match two equal numbers or two that add up to 10.
• Dominoes: Match the ends and be first to play your last tile.

Need dice? Recess has them too: standard, fish-prawn-crab, and 4, 8, 10, 12 and 20-sided dice. Everyone at the table sees the same roll.

• Waiting alone at your table? Tap Join a friend to go to theirs, and tap the code to copy it.
• Mark your favourite games and put them in your own order on Home.
• Each game remembers its options, and one tap resets them all.
• The last move is easier to see, in the colour of the player who made it.
• The robot plays at a pace you can follow.
• Chess and Chinese chess start with no clock. Turn it on in the options.
• Two phones reconnect faster after one sleeps, and a game keeps going if a phone locks mid-move.
