### 5/5 — Finally a cohesive recipe search app!!

*2020-05-11*

I am super excited that there is finally an app to find recipes and not have to scroll through someone’s personal journey as to why they decided to make lemon and herb chicken!...

I am able to find recipes with the items I already have in the kitchen, without having to make a redundant trip to the grocery store. LOVE THIS!

### 5/5 — Great recipe search

*2020-05-11*

So useful to have in quarantine

### 3/5 — Three stars for the recipes, not for the app.

*2014-01-30*

This app is based on a nice concept, but lacks some embarrassingly standard features, like the ability to save favorite recipes, or share recipes via email. I'd also like to see an iPad version with the option to disable sleep, so I can keep my eye on a recipe while working.

I'm also currently counting calories, so I would appreciate if each recipe included nutrition facts.

### 2/5 — it has potential

*2014-01-21, version 1.1*

great idea but there's no way to save the recipes you like and it's difficult to get back to them once you have found one you like. also, whenever i hit the explore button it crashes

### 3/5 — Found some interesting recipes

*2014-01-17*

But don't see a way to save them. Like others have said the app crashes when I tap "explore" Don't want emails but don't see a way to opt out of unwanted stuff when attempted (unsuccessfully) to report crashes. When a recipe title links to outside website I just wonder if that website owner is OK with getting traffic this way - I hope so.
Overall nice concept poorly executed.

### 2/5 — Crashes

*2014-01-15, version 1.1*

Everytime I clicked explore it crashed. Also when I selected what ingredients i have the results put ingredients I said I didn't have. I will try the app a few more times but if it continuously crashes and ignores the ingredients that I do have I will uninstall.

### 2/5 — Nice Idea, But....

*2014-01-15*

This really is a good idea. This app, however, has real problems some of which have already been mentioned. In my case, if I tap the Explore button, I get a blank screen. Nothing happens. I tried to contact the developer to discuss this, but the App Support button only takes you to a page which signs you up for emails, which I really resent. There is no access anywhere to the people who made this app to discuss problems with it. All of that said, I was able to find some recipes I liked. But I can find good recipes without a frustrating app, so I will be deleting it. The app has a long way to go before it's good.

### 3/5 — Please make vegetarian friendly

*2014-01-14*

Although the recipes are interesting you have to answer endless questions about whether you have different types of meat on hand. You should able to answer a single question up front about your dietary preferences.

### 1/5 — .

*2014-01-14, version 1.1*

There are not enough choices offered based on the info provided. I asked for vegetarian recipes and still got meat based recipes. Not worth it.

### 1/5 — Doesn't even open!

*2014-01-14, version 1.1*

It crashes every time I try to open it on my iPhone 4 ! Please fix it !

### 1/5 — So which do you want first...?

*2014-03-22*

This poor lil' app is in desperate need of a really good detective -- someone who can figure things out...properly!! OK so the good news: its not crashing upon launch anymore. The bad news: tap Explore and nothing comes up; tap Recipes, add on-hand ingredients and a get a lot of recipes with NO PHOTOS!! I tried several times -- waited several minutes thinking the photos were slow to show but no, not one photo ever loaded.

Initially the app had few recipes but at least it worked. Now it has a lot of recipes but doesn't live up to the "Description". Another reviewer said it well: "good concept, bad execution"!!

### 1/5 — Contradicts itself

*2014-01-15*

App recommends recipes including ingredients that I just let it know I didn't have or doesn't ask if I have ricotta cheese, but then recommends Ricotta Cheese Gnochi. It also asked if I had Ponzu sauce. What is that and why would it ask if I had that less than 20 ingredients in? Needs some fixing, then it might be good. Right now, it's less than helpful.

### 1/5 — Setup poorly

*2014-01-15*

I have to answer endless questions (it seems like), any time I want to find recipes. I should be able to input the ingredients I have once (manually), and have it remember them.

Also even after I answer it's questions, it gives me recipes for meals I only have one ingredient for. If you're gonna make an app like this, do it right! Only display recipes that I have all the ingredients for (not just one of the ingredients). As it's setup now it's absolutely useless.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2014-01-15, version 1.1*

Can't get it to load. Crashes. Deleted..

### 1/5 — Doesn't open

*2014-01-14, version 1.1*

Explore section does not open. Cannot do any search, only pick from the suggested recipes from the asked ingredients. I saw an interesting one doing it but can't find it back as it does not suggest the same ingredients. Frustrating!

### 1/5 — Good concept...

*2014-01-14, version 1.1*

Badly executed. CRUSHED.

### 1/5 — Recipeas

*2014-01-14, version 1.1*

I downloaded the app excited for a new way to find recipes only to be truly disappointed that the app wouldn't open for me no matter how long I waited or how often I tried. I even power cycled my iPhone.

Sorry but I ended up deleting since I never got to experience the app.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2014-01-14, version 1.1*

It asks if I have chicken. Ok I have chicken breasts but it gives me recipes for whole chicken. It gives recipes for things you *likely* have ingredients for. I answered I had soy sauce and it gave me a Chinese dish with all the ingredients I didn't have....save the soy sauce. Not helpful.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2014-01-14, version 1.1*

I get just a blank screen with the word recipeas at the top. It's a shame because I thought it was going to be good

### 1/5 — Useless

*2014-01-14, version 1.1*

I like the fact that it asks you what ingredients you have and doesn't stop asking until it gets 12 of them but all of the final recipes require items that I already declined so how am I supposed to make spinach gnocchi of I don't have spinach or gnocchi????

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — New ideas with ease

*2026-06-05*

I love using a tool that does the heavy lifting for me with so many options to spark my creativity.

### 5/5 — My pocket cookbook

*2020-05-16*

This gem of an app has showed me how easy cooking great meals can be! Stuck in quarantine and trying new recipes from the app has definitely turned cooking at home into something I look forward to daily!🔥🔥

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2020-05-13*

I don’t think I knew how creative I could get with my grocery staples before Recipeas! This app is perfect for a cooking novice like me. Simply enter what items you have on hand (ex. Chicken, onion, salt) and the app delivers suggestions for recipes that call for only those items. This app is truly a game changer for me and I don’t have to run to the store picking up odds and ends of things that I forgot - because I already have them at home! Rather than shopping for a recipe, you find a recipe based on what you already have in your refrigerator and pantry. I’m a huge fan!

### 5/5 — Right app at the right time

*2020-05-13*

You’re Hungry. You’ve got No time for the store. Just a little Beep bop boop, and BANG. Tons of recipe ideas.

Also helps me take inventory of my fridge.

### 5/5 — Stress less - cook more

*2020-05-12*

Really good for those with allergies and dietary restrictions! When you first open it, it’ll ask you about a few different staple food items but will also ask about things that people might be trying to avoid. Makes it easier when looking through the recipes! Also really easy to email yourself your favorite recipes!

### 5/5 — exactly what I’ve been looking for

*2020-05-12*

This app captures the main challenge most people face: you want to make something but don’t have the ingredients. I love that Recipeas leads with what you have already and then serves up recommendations based on that - pretty genius, especially when you don’t want to be leaving your house :)

**Developer response:** Thank you so much! Glad you are enjoying the app!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I need now!

*2020-05-11*

Like most at the moment, I’m trying to limit my trips to the store, but doing so has made getting creative in the kitchen that much more difficult. With supplies dwindling, I found myself googling recipes to make with the random ingredients in my fridge, to no avail. Then came Recipeas - I can finally plug in what I have, and it pulls together a list of amazing recipes that only use the ingredients I mentioned. Lifesaver for sure 🙌🏼

**Developer response:** This is exactly what we were hoping for, thank you for trying it out!

### 5/5 — Great updates

*2020-05-11*

I love the variety of recipes that match my pantry and fridge. The preview feature of ingredients helps save time when looking for the right recipe. I especially like being able to get to the recipe without having to scroll through miles of text.

### 5/5 — Much improved, quarantine ready 🙏

*2020-05-11*

I tried this awhile back and it was admittedly a bit rough, but the new update looks great and haven’t run into any of the prior performance issues. It’s definitely helping me level up my food game in quarantine - highly recommend!

**Developer response:** Appreciate you giving us another look! Cook away, chef!

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2020-05-11*

I really like how it Asks you what you have and finds recipes according to that. I always have trouble figuring out what to make When I don’t know what can be used in a dish. This is awesome!!! Thank you for making this app!!!
