However, when using my iPhone and forget my password I am unable to gain access. Since I do not have to use a password with the MacBook upon gaining access, why is a password required with my IPhone. Paper daily for about 3 of those, you see. Anyhoo I enjoy getting the 'flavor' of my hometown now 53 years hence through the R.S. The front page, local sports, opinion page & funnies are my staple. Do not have any other app do that. I end up deleting the app and reinstalling. Going to give it another month and then canceling the whole thing. So often the pages freeze and the only way out is to delete the app and then reinstall it. This is very frustrating. It has been a disaster. Sometimes you cannot get the on line edition and other times just very hard access. The company should go back to old format. I called the 800 number many times and talked their representative, who is over seas. Very frustrating!!! ### 5/5 — Works Every Time *2020-08-23, version 2.9.10* I’ve never had an issue with this app on my iPad or iPhone, so if there were performance problems, they’ve fixed them. Very nice to be able to read the paper of my hometown. Enjoy! ### 2/5 — Often freezes *2019-12-15, version 2.9.10* Please have your team review this app. After a long time of no issues it now constantly and consistently freezes in the mobile format. As a digital subscriber this makes your virtual product, well, virtually useless. As the print medium is being decimated by the electronic application of your industry I would think this aspect of your evolving business model would be vital to get right for what I presume to be a majority of your PAID subscribers. Yes, let’s please not lose sight that this is a free mobile app that is tied to a PAID subscription. With the presumed necessity to get this right, coupled with your USA Today affiliation I would expect that the resources are available to get this quickly corrected to remain relevant in this increasingly pressured marketplace. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Easy to use *2023-05-28* Enjoy reading the news from my phone. Appreciate the ability of sending articles to someone and often to myself for further review. Has made it easy to keep up with the local news. ### 1/5 — Frequently locks up *2020-11-29, version 3.2.43* If there was another local paper I’d get it instead. I read the LA Times and SF Chronicle on my iPad with no issues. With this, if I touch the article to expand it, my iPad frequently locks up. Neither closing the app or even powering down the iPad helps. So I never intentionally expand articles, but of course, from time to time, my finger lingers on an article accidentally and it expands and the app locks up. It reopens with the locked screen no matter what I do to try and clear it. After about half an hour I can open it again with a refreshed screen. So frustrating!!! ### 1/5 — Junk, like the news product *2020-11-26, version 3.2.43* The app has been around for years but hasn’t improved in that time. In fact, it’s gotten worse. Now, clicking on a story brings up the split screen and it freezes. The only remedy is to kill out the app and download it again from the App Store. You’d think a massive media company could get a simple pdf viewer app right. I pay for the e edition subscription but can't read it with this new edition. Very unhappy. I love that it shows full pages and you can just tap to read not only your article on that page but immediately goes to where the article continues on another page. Articles you highlight to read are in a easy to read format with larger print. Reading black print against a white background is better than the papers.
