Finding the days stories collected is a challenge Some of the ads are questionable. I dislike it & always try to get the traditional layout. Siskiyou and Shasta counties. Moved away years ago but an article with Shasta Lake or a photo of Mt. Shasta will always get my attention. This app/newspaper helps me feel like less of a stranger. I downgraded the app for 2 reasons. 1) targeting cookies cannot be turned off. 2) I cannot cancel the subscription from the app. ### 3/5 — Record searchlight *2020-12-12, version 6.2.0* I enjoy the print edition more, but for a quick update this is ok. For two months the print edition did not load all the way and I was unable to read it. Three times I tried to redo the app, waited 12 minutes or more on the phone to talk to someone and eventually gave up. Finally the app is working and I’m able to enjoy it. Also, due to my failing eyesight the audio is a welcome asset. Clunky, poorly designed and prone to freeze ups, it is right on par with its namesake third-rate news product. The sign-in process has always been lousy. Now it won’t get past the user name before freezing. Yep, you have to pay outlandish prices to access the news product and then its app won’t let you do that. I feel there are to many “on page” ads however. If I am paying monthly to read this, on screen ads should be at a minimum. Also, each article should have an email address of the article’s author. Most readers don’t use Twitter. I also would like to see articles with a more conservative bias. The articles in general need to original, simultaneously not repeating liberal talking points that seam to permeate the mainstream media these days.
