### 4/5 — Back to the basics

*2025-01-21, version 2.34.6*

I’m nearing 60, and while I’ve been very active in the past, for the last few years I’ve allowed my arthritis to get the better of me and became pretty sedentary. When even walking more than a mile was leaving me feeling stiff & sore, I took advantage of the offer of this program from my insurance company and got back to the very basics of strength & mobility.

This program is working like a charm; just one star off because the audio cues just stopped working in the app and from time to time make a brief reappearance only to stop again. Have tried restarting the program, turning mute on & off, even restating my phone. Seems pointlessly sloppy of the developers to let that persist.

### 4/5 — Very helpful

*2023-10-05, version 2.19.0*

This has mostly been a great experience, but there are still some bugs to work out. I had to give up on the motion sensor because there just wasn’t enough space in my house to get it far enough away. Also having it bark orders at me about placement while I was still trying to find a good spot was annoying. I’m also frustrated with the ratings part for each exercise. Apparently if you tell it that an exercise was challenging, it may drop the number of reps to a lower odd number which is a pain if you’re supposed to be doing both sides because it leaves you lopsided. Finally, I’ve noted that an exercise was extremely painful in the ratings section and had no response or change to the routine. When you contact the trainer directly, they are quick to respond though, so it works out. Just don’t count on the post exercise ratings to do the right thing.

### 4/5 — X

*2023-09-07, version 2.19.0*

Had some issues with the sound but otherwise very happy with this application

### 3/5 — Audio issues

*2023-06-13, version 2.10.0*

Some days the audio counters work on the exercises some days they don’t. Completely random. Incredibly frustrating.

### 5/5 — A Great App

*2023-06-01, version 2.10.0*

I am in agreement with the review who wrote “Absolutely Amazing”. Not to take away from the app but it would be nice to have the ability to leave a message in the exercise. The feedback is always great, timely and encouraging. Another recommendation is for them to get rid of the close captioning (or at least have the option to turn it off). The captioning blocks the view on certain exercises. But these are minor (but should be fixed). Overall, it’s a great app.

### 5/5 — Wonderful !!

*2023-03-29, version 2.10.0*

As a busy working 62 YOF, I love this service!! You have the convenience of doing PT when you can and support at your fingertips. In addition, saving gas and copayments - just awesome!!

### 5/5 — Helping me get rid of my back pain

*2023-03-08, version 2.5.1*

I have been using RecoveryOne for over a month now and loving my progress. My back pain is lesser and I am more flexible now. I get a sense I can be completely cured or worst case a lot better than I am now without taking injections or going into surgery.

### 5/5 — Very pleased!

*2023-02-10, version 2.5.1*

I am very pleased with the therapy I am receiving through RecoveryOne! It’s personal, it goes with me wherever I need to be while traveling, and with the text and chats, it is encouraging to not only do it, but for when I have problems with pain and it’s not working for me. We chat and I get going again. My therapist that I saw in person several months ago, and again this past week, was very impressed with my improvement with RecoveryOne and the exercises, and said there was nothing more or better that she could recommend. Kinda speaks for itself. She also said she wished all her patients were as eager to do the work and get on with recovering as I have been. Thankful for her start with stretches, and RecoveryOnes continuing and improving with the next steps. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Love the Responsiveness

*2023-01-24, version 2.5.1*

Every time I have a question or concern I get a response lighting fast and often from my physical therapist. I love how the coaches push me to make smart goals and stay consistent. I am making great healing gains reducing pain and increasing mobility!

### 3/5 — OK app has reduced pain

*2023-01-21, version 2.5.1*

I like that access to a physical therapist and use of the app is included in my health insurance premium. What I dislike is that exercises are static for weeks on end and that the sound prompt feature applicable during exercises, which I find useful, works less than half the time. Also, exercises that require alternating between right and left sides are not equally timed in the app. Please clean up the bugs.

### 5/5 — A Blessing

*2022-10-31, version 2.2.0*

A right hip ache for many years, then lower back started acting up . I’ve had a desk job for over 25 years. My exercising dwindled over the years because of my hip. People told me my aches were a normal part of aging. I wish I had RecoveryOne sooner. I could’ve prevented my hip and back from getting out of hand. I am thankful now for my healing in process. I can do it in the comfort of my living room. I don’t miss work. I can even break up my assigned exercises throughout the day . The chat is is helpful with questions and so encouraging when I’m discouraged from a flare up. I highly recommend RecoveryOne. I’ve already mentioned it to co workers. Best wishes on your healing journey .

### 5/5 — Easy to follow and effective

*2022-10-26, version 2.2.0*

I love the short sessions (20-25 minutes) and the instructions. The videos make it easy to follow. And the exercises are diverse and effective.

The flexibility to do this anytime night or day, and any place versus tradition PT is a game changer. Going to a PT session is a 1 and a half minimum commitment (drive time included). This fits in without blocking your day.

### 5/5 — Outstanding indeed

*2022-09-27, version 2.1.0*

For over one year I tried to find a way to decrease continuous pain from shoulder arthritis and shoulder rotor up tendinitis. I worked with different Phisical Terapist and none could help me much. It all changed when I started the virtual program of Recovery. After 12 weeks my situation of pain and stiffness improved by 80%.

### 5/5 — Absolutely Amazing

*2022-08-30, version 2.0.31*

As a super active 60+ who works hard to avoid surgeries, I have had more episodes with traditional, in-office PT than I want to admit. I have a collection of uninspiring black and white sheets of paper with sets and reps scribbled on the side. Recovery One is actually fun and I mean that. I have shoulder impingement and am trying to get back to full use of my shoulder esp above my head. I look forward to the sessions and have even stepped it up to every day. The software is amazingly smart and configures what seems to be the most spot on workout each day. The videos are instructive and the timed counter keeps me from rushing through. I am making rapid progress and am almost hating the countdown to the end of the pathway. I started by having a video call with a great PT who stepped me through some assessments. It was easy to do and we communicated well. From there, the pathway gets assigned. Anytime you want, you can hit the chat button to leave a message for your assigned care manager. This is truly the most amazing thing I ever could have wished for!!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — iOS 26.4.1 broke audio

*2026-04-21, version 2.40.48*

The exercise counters audio stopped working with iOS 26.4.1 the video audio still works, but not the exercise countdown timers

### 1/5 — Bugs!

*2023-09-17, version 2.19.0*

This app has more bugs into than a cheap motel. Sometimes the sound turns itself off and there’s no way to turn it back on. If you miss touching the exact spot of the check mark to add a routine by even a millimeter, it takes you to the instruction video, with no way to get back to either add or start your routine. You have to shut down your device and reboot.
The routines are great, it’s the software glitches that frustrates you.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2023-03-10, version 2.5.1*

The app has difficulty with the video downloads in the Guided mode which makes it unusable.

### 1/5 — Not good enough - Hope my employer is not paying a lot for this

*2022-12-17, version 2.5.0*

I’ve used other physical therapy helpers and this is no better- actually I found it worse. It should offer more than just a beep for each movement - especially when they are complex. I would expect the app to offer more granularity to help me time my movements correctly. Also not offering haptic feedback to an Apple Watch is a big miss. I find my simple Haptic Workout Timer App that cost me a dollar or two to be more helpful as you can set a time for a set with a rest time and then set the number of reps.

Clicking guided exercise didn’t give me the option for my phone to watch me and help correct my form. This is the only reason I signed up.

If you accidentally advance an exercise, you can’t go back and actually do it.

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2020-02-01, version 1.2.4*

Provides no value. Waste of time.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2019-04-08, version 1.1.10*

I got this app and can’t even sign up for it. Tried to uninstall and it won’t uninstall. Totally broken. At least I didn’t pay anything for it.

### 2/5 — Audio Never Works on IPhone 16 Pro

*2025-04-21, version 2.34.6*

The audio never works for me on this app on my iPhone 16 Pro, which means I have to see my phone while doing exercises. In addition, I don’t like the way it doesn’t let me remove exercises or change the order of them, before starting the session. Very disappointing app. The other app I have used to supplement PT is MedBridge GO and that makes this one seem really lacking. It’s too bad, because the idea of having an app for PT from home is a good one, but this app is sub-par.

### 2/5 — A great concept that’s programmatically challenged

*2024-04-29, version 2.34.1*

Let me start by saying that I love the freedom RO offers for PT. For something like this that requires multiple sessions a week to be useful, independence is a game changer. This review is strictly for the app itself and not the service overall, which I have found to be very helpful.

That said this app is light years from where it needs to be from a product standpoint to compete with other health and wellness apps on the market. The technology side of the app is OK… for 2005. Rife with bugs, preferences don’t seem to keep when checking boxes, audio cues are inconsistent, and the demonstration videos for more vague exercises (example: scapular depression/contractions) are very hard to understand.

### 2/5 — Interesting concept, poor execution

*2021-09-14, version 2.0.22*

I am able to receive this service for free through my insurance provider, Cigna. My review would be one-star if I was actually paying out of pocket.

Where to even begin?

My engagement began with a virtual consultation with a PT. It was a 20 minute or so conversation and I liked her very much. Unfortunately I never get to speak with her again. One and done. Everything from that point forward is through the app.

The app is intuitive enough, but…
- Videos lack basic functionality, e.g. fast forward or review by 15 seconds
- Video settings are ridiculous to being stupid - by the beach, on a mountain top, in a field. Why not simply in a gym setting?
- No audio when you are actually doing the stretches makes the experience terribly frustrating. I’m on my back looking at the ceiling. How am I supposed to know when to begin another rep?
- No ability to cast the session to a tv
-Every stretch has a required feedback mechanism. REQUIRED. What if I don’t want to provide feedback?
- Every feedback instance that is negative generates a unique email from support. My session this morning generated at least a half dozen unique emails. I’m have since blocked Recovery One on my Gmail account.
- Disrespectful of my time. I told the app I have 30 minutes maximum - it generated a routine that was easily 45 min.

I really hated this app and the experience. As they say in baseball, “a swing and a miss”.

### 2/5 — Very Poor App

*2021-05-15, version 2.0.21*

I’m sure the service is great but the app itself is so poor that I can’t actually use it.

My first appointment, I loaded up the app. My call immediately ended and my app became just a white screen with absolutely no options whatsoever saying someone would call me. They never did.

I rescheduled my appointment for 20 minutes later. Showed up to that appointment and the app remained stuck on a screen saying “you have an upcoming appointment” for about 5 minutes into when my appointment was supposed to be. There were no options to join a call anywhere to be seen. Again, nobody called me or anything so the app basically made me miss the appointment.

I’d love to use this service but I’m not going to wrestle with a severely limited and poor app to do so.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very helpful with my Knee pain

*2026-03-12, version 2.40.48*

I say RecoveryOne is my saviour, after being at doctor multiple times, worried about bone cancer. Somehow I came across the RecoveryOne app, made my appointment and followed the sessions without skipping a day, and boom I felt better after two years suffering from knee pain. This is what I need, I wish I could’ve found it earlier, but nothing is too late. Easy to set up an appointment and the PT doctors are very compassionate and helpful in the video call session. They set my exercises routine and sessions, and they responded fast enough for all my questions. Overall this app is amazing and works great for people like me. Minor bugs with the app, but they don’t change my opinion on this app or their service

### 5/5 — No excuses

*2024-12-14, version 2.34.6*

Recovery One makes rehab doable in the comfort of your home with excellent results. Very comprehensive and comparable to in person therapy. I’m amazed.

### 5/5 — Great

*2024-11-06, version 2.34.6*

I do not have more stars to award. Great ppl.

### 5/5 — Outstanding App/Service

*2024-06-25, version 2.34.6*

I was hobbled by a pinched nerve in my back. I created a RecoveryOne account, and minutes later was talking with someone who was able to prescribe a course of action. Minutes after that, I was using the app for my first session. Within 2 weeks, I was good as new. The app is excellent as it guides you through customized exercises, includes great video demos, loads of info, and uses the camera to watch your performance and suggest ways you can improve your form. The materials they send you are perfect for the needs. The chat features and feedback you provide get very timely responses from people who seem genuinely vested in helping you return to better health.

### 5/5 — More helpful than I expected

*2024-05-20, version 2.34.3*

I have had rigorous PT in the past on a different injury as well as several types of treatments for my current condition. I didn’t go into it with high hopes, but it’s free through my insurance. It also seems really simple and easy. I am actually seeing progress, though, and I hope it continues.

### 5/5 — Innovative and perfect for me!

*2024-03-19, version 2.34.0*

I am 51 years old and don’t like having to drive across town three days a week to do PT. I have been doing Yoga/Pilates/Functional Strength Training and after a recent injury suddenly had a huge setback. I knew I could recover from the injury but wasn’t certain I wouldn’t extend or worsen the injury. Enter Recovery One. Virtual visit with a DPT followed by a plan based on what was important to me. Ways to give feedback on each set of instructions, and interactive chats. So many times in the past I would go to the orthopedist to get access to PT and I knew my injury was nonsurgical but had to have the ortho visit to ensure it. I wasn’t certain with this injury but an ortho visit reassured me of the diagnosis…meniscus tear and baker’s cyst and confirmed bone on bone arthritis in the knees. Recovery One allowed for me to do my PT in the comfort of my home, using elements in my home combined with a pack they offered up and sent out. I actually use the app on my phone and airplay it on my TV so I can see the videos clearly. Exactly what I need for my aging body to safely remain active!

### 5/5 — Love This!

*2024-02-21, version 2.34.0*

Last year, I was diagnosed with cancer. It all ended well but I thought that was bad and then decided to finally pull the trigger on a full rotator cuff repair surgery. Well now, that was insane. I had in person PT and used it fully. I also had access to Recovery One and continue to fully use it. It is fantastic! If you’re remotely self-motivated and want to recover, this is for you. Currently, I still do my shoulder PT and now am doing PT for hip bursitis (because I laid on one side for nearly a year due to the shoulder pain) and that is going extremely well. I couldn’t feel more lucky to have found Recovery One.

### 5/5 — Exceptionally Good for You

*2024-01-13, version 2.25.1*

I am 74 years old with some arthritis in my neck. The RecoveryOne app and support provide wonderful weekly exercise modules. My life is better because of RecoveryOne. I go to the gym and I am more active than people half my age. RecoveryOne is helping me stay at the head of the pack.

### 5/5 — Great way to path of recovery

*2023-08-25, version 2.19.0*

I had frozen shoulder, I met online with my PT, he was great in listening to my issues and created a series of exercises. I followed those using guided sessions and did my exercises 4 times a week. It has been 14 weeks since my start and I feel less pain in my shoulder and improved range of motion, I would recommend it to anyone who can follow the instructions and show dedication to home exercise and take the path to recovery. Thanks to my coach Olivia and all PTs who answered my questions and guided me.

### 5/5 — Almost perfect

*2023-08-01, version 2.18.1*

I love the app and the service. It’s super convenient. It’s helping me recover in the most convenient way possible.
One small bug, the audio cues for the start, reps, etc for guided experience often does not work.
Other than that, I’m very pleased.
