It's stopping me purchasing the full game. ### 1/5 — More bandwagon jumping by Elite? *2017-11-30* Bit coincidental that on the week the spectrum reaches 35 years old and the Spectrum NEXT receives 250k of crowd funding and is on all the major news sites that Elite decide to put this app back on the store. Wonder if the developers will get paid for the game sales this time around? Oh and a bit about the app itself. Limited number of games available, broken promises of packs being added regularly, and better spectrum emulators available Update: you can’t even use it on an iPhone to unlock your keyboard because a pop up keyboard which cannot be removed covers the unlock button. ### 1/5 — What a rip off *2017-11-26, version 5.0* I’ve purchased manic miner once why am I expected to purchase again ? On to apple and trading standards about this. The controls are off the screen, it won’t scroll down to reveal them in portrait or landscape. Suggest the team do subs research before releasing anymore. However, this app is still (apparently) accepting in-app payments, so there’s no excuse for it being broken. If you accept payments, fix your app. Controls are off the screen. Audio (I thing) doesn’t work; it’s all just quite unsatisfying. ### 1/5 — Awful *2023-10-30, version 5.0* No controls work. Keyboard and joypad controls don’t function. Shame as a retro look back at Sinclair games would be great. Only costs another 99c to but it once you download this app. And now EDGE has released Bobby Bearing 2 on the AppStore! That game is AMAZING! Maybe the best game on sale on the AppStore right now. ### 5/5 — Great app and best ZX reproduction so far... *2016-03-08* The app is great, also has pixel filter option to get a more 80s (lightly blurry) screen effect. The app and they keyboard reproduce the ZX perfectly (this means you need to know the ZX before you can enjoy this app at the fullest). The only thing I wish they would add is rotating screen on the main interface as well as a "go back" button to make it simpler to change games. Some review reported that Jetset Will stays on loading screen forever, this because the user haven't tried to press ENTER button on the loading screen etc... So if you had an original ZX this app (and the keyboard) is definitely what you want. But, if you never owned a ZX, then you probably want to go for some other emulators with commands on screen and such to help non ZX users. ### 5/5 — Great ZX Spectrum App *2016-02-23* Although I may come from America, I love the ZX Spectrum, with all its games, music, and many more. However, the only app on the App Store for the computer was Spectaculator, but on that, you have to buy, buy, buy. That is, until I found this app. And, it's from Elite Systems of all people! There was a collection of games that were free (except for Maniac Miner and Jet Set Willy), and another collection, but you have to buy them, and thank god the prices for all the games you have to buy are reasonable. For the free games, there are some gems (i.e. Beyond the Ice Palace). I won't explain more, as this review is long enough, but it's a must buy for fans for the black beauty. ### 5/5 — Pefect! *2015-12-11, version 3.0* This is most perfect way to play Manic Miner on the iPad and also includes the newest Jet Set Willy game 'Willy's Great Adventure'. You will have to pay for most of the games, but it is worth it! I recommend! Thanks elite systems! ### 5/5 — Great port! *2015-10-04* I was delighted to see that my favorite Speccy games were on the App Store. The prices are very reasonable, and the ports are well done. You can save your game at any point and there are 2 different control schemes. I like the Adaptive ones the best but the keyboard is great for nostalgia. I only have a few problems. For one, I really wish you used the music from the Atari 800 port of Jet Set Willy. It's really catchy and way better than the primitive bleeps and bloops of the Speccy port. I also really wish Jet Set Willy 2 was here, the last game in the Miner Willy series, since you have the first 2 games. As for other games I'd include: Dizzy Invasion of The Zombie Monsters Bubble Bobble Out Run Monty Mole Sentinel ### 5/5 — Long overdue but re-buying sticks in the throat... *2015-10-01, version 3.0* I'm somewhat annoyed to have to buy what I've effectively already purchased in the previous app. Surely there should be a feature to allow previous buyers to fully reinstall to a level that they've already purchased.
