### 4/5 — Reasonable app but missing some features

*2026-08-15, version 4.0.1*

App has worked well and loved being able to manage the temperature in particular from a distance. But, with the recent update, the timer is harder to view and is buried in the app. I would love, if the app would have the timer show up like a normal timer on my phone.

### 4/5 — iPad App

*2026-08-08, version 4.0.1*

Works better on iPhone but probe alerts still do not work on iPad. Can set the target temp but then it disappears.

### 2/5 — Please bring back the older version

*2026-08-06, version 4.0.1*

This new update is awful. I loved how I could type in the temperature before. Somehow the app turned my grill from 275 to 700 on its own. Thankfully I noticed it after 10 minutes and I didn’t ruin my ribs.

### 2/5 — Oh no!

*2026-08-02, version 4.0.0*

I just started using the updated app after several years of using the old version. Wow this thing is a terrible experience. Yeah somebody made better graphics, but the usability is very poor. Please bring back the old interface.

### 2/5 — New update

*2026-08-01, version 4.0.0*

After the latest update my meat probes wont give me notifications, won’t stay on my desired temperature, and is overall harder to use now.

### 3/5 — New App Upgrade is Horrible

*2026-07-29, version 4.0.0*

I like the use of the way the app WAS! Super easy to use, before any of this complicated stuff. Where is the cooking tips for the different types of meat? Instead, you only have the recipes. I don’t want the the recipes unless I do. Maybe I just want some temps and times for type of meat? That was the most used part of the app for me. That and being able to type in my desired temp. Now I have to scroll to get temp, hopefully I’m paying attention and get the correct temp when I set phone down. Sometimes it’s best to leave things alone. Or let people that use the app decide the upgrades. Not some developer that doesn’t use the app!!

### 3/5 — New App Has Problems

*2026-07-29, version 4.0.0*

The new app looks nice but it’s half baked. Have to change temp 3 times in the app before the grill actually did it. App also opens up to the home page when grill is active. This is a waste of time. I need to get to the grill controls when the grill is on. Don’t care about the home page.

### 3/5 — Update Appreciated

*2026-07-26, version 4.0.0*

The old app was terrible. The grill is fantastic, but the app is trash. Had to change the font all the way to the smallest in order to actually see what temperature is your probes and grill is at which was stupid. My first experience on the redesign and I am thrilled with the changes well done recteq!

### 2/5 — Hate the new update

*2026-07-25, version 4.0.0*

The latest update is so worthless and non responsive.

### 1/5 — Broken after update.

*2026-07-24, version 4.0.0*

Fix it and stop messing with it

### 1/5 — Not sold on the recent update

*2026-07-23, version 4.0.0*

Previous app was basic but functional and authentically useful. Redesign dramatically reduces functionality and prioritizes cross-selling of other products. Fan of recteq, but this app can do better.

Don’t update if you can avoid it.

### 3/5 — Manual Temp Settings

*2026-07-23, version 4.0.0*

Please go back to allowing us to manually enter the temperature. Seems to me like a software version from a few years ago tried this, then went back. Slides are not a good option with bbq sauce on your fingers! Ha!

### 1/5 — Terrible after update

*2026-07-21, version 4.0.0*

I guess there’s no escaping poor software and or hardware in the more affordable range of smokers. I will add Recteq to my list of “will not buy again”

### 1/5 — App is horrible

*2026-07-21, version 4.0.0*

The app upgrade belongs in the trash. Hard to set temps, alerts don’t work, and the UI is made to sell stuff - not control a grill. If I could give it less than one star I would.

### 1/5 — Update Bug

*2026-07-21, version 4.0.0*

Can’t set internal temp target less than 100°

### 2/5 — Newest update

*2026-07-19, version 4.0.0*

The layout changed after the most recent update. The only way my probe notifications stay set is if the app is open.

### 2/5 — Off button was cool

*2026-07-19, version 4.0.0*

Why on earth did you remove the very clearly marked off button? Instead, now I see a green power button even when the grill is off (well, I hope it’s off). Dude.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bring back remote start functionality

*2026-08-23, version 4.0.1*

This app now sucks. I used to be able to (as a grown adult making my own decisions) remotely start my grill to get it up to temp. They have now crippled the app functionality.

### 1/5 — Latest Update

*2026-08-21, version 4.0.1*

Junk. Used to be almost flawless.

### 1/5 — current update broke my connection

*2026-08-17, version 4.0.1*

After updating I can’t connect my grill to the app & it would status the grills condition before removing & re-adding the grill.

I can’t remotely monitor or control my grill

### 1/5 — Guided cook still fails

*2026-08-16, version 4.0.1*

They have updated the app, it use to crash everything I tried to do a guided cook, now it just sets the temperature of my grill to 225 no matter what recipe calls for and will not let you change it till you quit the guided cook and force quit the app. Using a dual flame.

### 1/5 — Update

*2026-08-16, version 4.0.1*

Currently app is junk. Things work, so they change it. Let’s make it better. Now notification turns it’s self off and is hard to set. Also grill model is unknown and if you set it, it reverts to unknown

### 1/5 — New update is trash

*2026-08-13, version 4.0.1*

Can’t start a guided recipe from the recipe tab, only from the grill tab. But the guided recipes section on the grill tab has no search feature, no favorites, no way to sort. Ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Probe alerts!

*2026-08-13, version 4.0.1*

Please fix the probe alerts! Without them, I’m not sure this app is useful at all! I miss the old app! The UI was cleaner and everything was great! I don’t like being upsold on more products and I don’t use recipes.

### 1/5 — Bring back the remote on button.

*2026-08-08, version 4.0.1*

The remote on feature was one of the main reasons i bought this grill. I could preheat the grill from anywhere. My wife would text and ask me to turn on the grill for here on my way home so it would be ready to go when i got there. Sadly you took this function away with the last update.

### 1/5 — Go back to the previous version

*2026-08-02, version 4.0.0*

Please roll it back. The old version was perfect. The UI on this one is less capable, the notification button doesn’t stay on and is aesthetically less pleasing. Old one, 5 stars. This one, 0 if I could go that low

### 1/5 — App update sucks

*2026-07-24, version 4.0.0*

App now sucks timer keeps failing , probs not detected banner in the way of the screen and temp is like 25 degrees off now ! Row back to the previous please

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Off button was cool

*2026-08-13, version 4.0.1*

Why on earth did you remove the very clearly marked off button? Instead, now I see a green power button even when the grill is off (well, I hope it’s off). Edit: they did it. Changed to 5 stars given you listened. Well done.

### 5/5 — Temperature graphs are missing after the latest update

*2026-07-26, version 4.0.0*

Removing the ability to display the graph of the temperature and the probes’ readings over time was the one crucial feature that distinguished your app from Traeger, and now you’ve removed it in this update. While it wasn’t a frequent occurrence during my thermal runway experience, I could still observe it in the graph. Apparently, your tech support department prefers to conceal the issues rather than provide users with accurate data that could be utilized. Updates are supposed to enhance functionality, not eliminate features.

All of my cooking, data, comments, dates, times, temperatures, and feedback that I’ve meticulously entered into my app over the past two years have been erased.

I suppose your tech support would rather conceal the data related to thermal runways than offer users precise graphs of the temperatures over time.

### 5/5 — How about making a WATCH version

*2026-07-21, version 4.0.0*

iPhone app works great. Watch would be handy.

### 5/5 — Live Activity? Watch App+Widget?

*2026-06-21, version 3.6.1*

Great app! Just needs a live activity so I don’t need to open my phone and a watch app+widget for the same reason!

### 5/5 — Awesome pellet smoker

*2026-05-20, version 3.6.1*

One of the best apps I have used for a pellet smoker. It connected easily to wifi, dials in your cooking temp to the exact degree you want, has lots of great, chef driven recipes. I highly recommend the app and the grills. Thanks guys, Shout out to Jody, and Chef John!

### 5/5 — Former Traeger owner

*2026-04-25, version 3.6.1*

Don’t look back. Don’t even pretend your Traeger is what you wanted. Save the extra money and go Recteq. It would take 10,000 words to tell you my opinion but I finally got my Recteq and just cooked my first filets at 550 degrees that was actually 550 degrees according to my “Meater”. Best quality. Best temperature hold I have ever seen.

### 5/5 — Patio 400

*2026-03-12, version 3.6.1*

This this is amazing. Love that I can control from my phone. Very easy set up and maintenance.

### 5/5 — Great but needs one fix

*2025-10-03, version 3.5.6*

This app is great, I just have one recommendation: when you go into cook history it organizes cooks from left to right but has the current cook at the end. Most people want to monitor their current cook so it would make sense to either reorganize all the cooks or move the current cook to the front of the list.

### 5/5 — Outstanding app

*2025-09-25, version 3.5.6*

I never realized how much an app could improve my grilling and smoking experience. This is an amazing tool that improves my cook ease and quality.

### 5/5 — Great grilling experience

*2025-09-10, version 3.5.6*

I have owned my recteq for several years now and enjoy the grilling experience. It has only failed once because of a tremendous rain storm. Let it dry out and it’s worked without a problem since. Just wish I could start it when away from home remotely to preheat.
