One feature missing and one bug prevent me from giving it 5 stars. Instead of the name of the day, the app shows the number of the day. 3 instead of Tuesday for example. Today is Saturday June 18 but it shows “7, June 18” where the “7” is the day of week. This is so close - designs are nice - but in landscape mode you lose the weather graphic and only have the tiny status bar for weather. The first is a more subtle sound so I wake up calmer. The second, 4 to 7 minutes later, is more obnoxious to ensure I get up. There's never a good time for an alarm to fail to go off and this alarm has never failed, unlike a bunch of other alarm apps I've tried. I only rate it 4 Stars because I really don't like any of the alarm sounds it has and wish it had more, but as stated before, it's dependable and that's the most important aspect for me. The other reason I only rated it 4 Stars is because I really wish it had more snooze time options, like two minutes, or three minutes. But if you want dependability and don't mind the alarm sounds that come with it, I can recommend this alarm app. ### 4/5 — Need more alarm options *2019-05-08, version 4.5.2* I love the app, but more alarm sound options are needed. I prefer my own music but if we can't get that, can we at least get some more alarm sound options? The current ones are either rehashes of every other alarm clock sound out there, or simply too 'plucky and happy' for my taste. Also, most of these are too similar with each other as well. Only objection is the bottom info bar font is too small and the auto nighttime mode seems not to function on my iPhone XR. That would be perfect! ### 4/5 — Fix automatic switching to/from night mode! *2018-06-03, version 4.3* This is the best iOS clock app I have so far found & it has a classy look. However, the feature I was most impressed with & thought was very clever is the apparent ability to automatically switch in & out of “Night Mode”. The night mode feature solves a nagging issue: at night the display needs to be dimmed & during the day bright to overcome light coming in from the widows. Manually switching between these modes works but the settings menu leads you to believe it can also do it automatically but so far it has never done it. Only manually switching works which is insufficient. Fix that & I’d give it 5 stars. ### 3/5 — Wish they would fix the bug affecting the sound *2018-04-26, version 4.3* I absolutely love(d) this alarm clock. It worked really well at first and then all of the alarm tones stopped working. Neither deleting and downloading the app again or rebooting my phone fixed the bug. The developer did let me know via email (within 24 hrs) that it was probably a bug, but to date it has yet to be fixed. If fixed I will gladly use the app again, but for now I’m going to search for a replacement. iPhone X ### 3/5 — Looks great. Works well. Sure would be nice to know the day's forecast when I wake up. I enjoy how it will automatically switch to night mode based on the ambient light. I don’t use the alarm function, but it seems more than adequate- how many different sounds does one need anyway? My only complaint, keeping me at 4 stars rather than 5, is the info bar at the bottom of the screen. The numbers are too small for me to read without my glasses. I’d be happier with just the current temperature with a larger font size or maybe the current and the days high/low forecast. I like the different themes- I wish there was a way to preview the optional themes. Even full size screen shots on the developer website would be appreciated. If you’re not sure if you will like this app, take the free version for a spin. The ads do clutter the screen, but it helped me evaluate Red Clock. Having no ads is totally worth the purchase price. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Alarm doesn’t work! *2023-05-24* Well, good thing I set an iPhone alarm as a back up because this apps alarms did not go off! I set two alarms in the morning, and neither one went off, I had to scramble around, getting ready for work, this was a complete waste of three dollars. And even on the night mode, it’s still too bright to have on at night, I had to have my phone face down. This app is hardly customizable, there aren’t even many choices for the alarm sounds, only eight and they aren’t good, but it doesn’t matter because they didn’t work anyway! ### 1/5 — Needs update! 🤬 *2022-11-27, version 4.6.2* This developer seems to have abandon this app which is sad. Apple really should force apps out that haven’t been updated in 2 years. Weather info is incorrect! One of the reasons I gave this app a try was weather info. The customizations that apparently used to be separate in-app purchases don’t seem to work after “restored”. The date in the info bar is non standard for the US. I don’t even know what it means to be honest. It is therefore distracting and can’t be turned off. Some choice of type face would be nice. ### 1/5 — Need help with alarm on iPad Pro -update *2021-07-08, version 4.6.2* Tried emailing support - so using this route - testing an alarm on iPad Pro - set up a time and the alarm icon shows up for about 5 seconds and then disappears and the alarm does not go off - have the sound up as high as it goes but no alarm. Do not get battery status even though it is turned on Please help - will certainly change the rating once this gets figured out - like the lay out for it simplicity - only suggestion is to put the weather info on the top not the bottom or at least have the option. Works ok on the iPhone - shows alarm and battery status and alarm goes off - not sure why it is different on the iPad ### 1/5 — Beautiful APP that No longer works *2017-01-12, version 4.3* I used to love this app but a few months ago, it stopped working. It has joined the plethora of dead apps that are useless. The latest IOS overrides 3rd party alarm settings. I've been waiting for a fix from the developers but nothing has happened and I need a functioning Alarm clock. I wanted one that gave the current weather conditions. Unfortunately, this one does a poor job. I’m a meteorologist and I can’t find a matching observation anywhere. I set it for one color and overnight it changes to a light color with a font that’s impossible to read. I go to bed with confidence after a month of using the app there will be no mishaps both user or program. I also really like the look and vibe of the alarm. Nighttime and morning is all about good mojo and this app has that feel. Minor annoyance, I would like the night feature to dim. Finding a suitable app for this is surprisingly difficult. Some don’t offer the choice of an analog clock, some look blurry on newer iPads, and some insist on showing you ads. This app seems to check all the boxes. It’s got nice themes, an assortment of customizations for the analog display, and an optional weather and date bar. You can choose to hide or show seconds in the digital display. Theoretically, you can also turn the second hand on and off for the analog display—but the toggle seems to be broken, haha. With that repair, Red Clock remains the most beautiful digital clock that I've found, and the $1.99 for the analog kit was fine since that's attractive as well.
