If you’re making a booking as a guest and switch to another app — even just for a second to check a map or look something up — the Red Funnel app completely resets and you lose everything. You have to start over from scratch. This is incredibly frustrating and makes the app feel outdated and user-unfriendly. Please fix this basic functionality — it’s long overdue. ### 1/5 — Fundamentally Useless While Travelling *2023-05-25, version 1.1.44* The app, when it does load, will randomly flash up ‘session expired’ box and push you back to the login page. I’ve tried logging and using as guest and it’s both the same. When it does this, if you have no or poor connectivity, you can’t get back to the ferry times, which may have been the page you were in prior to the session expiring. ### 1/5 — 1.1.41 broke Apple Pay support *2022-10-30, version 1.1.41* After the 1.1.41 update I’m no longer able to use Apple Pay within the app. When I try to pay for a ticket it says that Apple Pay isn’t configured on my device. This was working fine on version 1.1.40 and anywhere else I’m using Apple Pay I have no issue. As using Apple Pay to pay for my tickets was the primary reason for downloading the app, I have no option to give this 1 star until the issue is fixed ### 1/5 — Cant access from outside UK *2022-10-21, version 1.1.41* Poor app and also poor website. Red Funnel seem to have an IT policy that prevents users booking if not within the UK - not helpful when your travelling accords Europe, or flying into Southampton. Used to be able to get around this with VPN’s now they also seemed to be blocked. Come on Red Funnel, please sort it out ### 1/5 — The worse app I’ve ever used *2022-07-09, version 1.1.21* Dreadful. Saves no user data, credit card or email so you have to put it in every time. Whoever wrote this app needs to return fee. ### 1/5 — Awful.. app hangs *2022-02-12, version 1.1.20* Awful.. you use the app once, then the next time you open it an error box pops up... “Session Expired, need to login” when you confirm this it simply ‘hangs’ while a whirly star faintly spins saying “initialising”……. But nothing happens. You have to turn off your phone to clear the issue… I have video. iPhone 11… ### 1/5 — App doesn’t load when you need it to *2021-10-16, version 1.1.15* When you try and use app you get a message ‘session has expired log in to the application’. But when you try and log in you get a message ‘initialising the application - will take a few moments’. It then just buffers - so it’s not a reliable way of showing you have a ticket, as it never loads in time! ### 1/5 — Totally useless for regular travellers. Can’t pay with account. *2021-08-30, version 1.1.14* You can’t pay with account funds or see balance on your account, therefore totally useless for regular travellers. ### 2/5 — Could be better *2025-06-18, version 1.1.46* App needs an overhaul it’s kind of outdated and also needs the ability to add tickets to apple wallet for quick and easy use. ### 2/5 — Some tweaks needed *2025-02-04, version 1.1.46* The 'your next journey' section doesn't show anything on the day of sailing, only the day before. This needs to be fixed please. It’s foot passenger only at the moment, which makes contactless travel on the Red Jets so much easier, particularly with Covid. Really clear and easy to use. Great photos of the ships which i like and the service status helps plan journeys. My kids like the map showing the location of the boats. Looking forward to being able to use it to book car tickets. Once it has vehicle booking capability and the My Red Funnel card available, I’ll update! Also - make bookings and the My Red Funnel card Apple Wallet capable please!! ### 3/5 — Needs a few more improvements *2023-08-31, version 1.1.44* Overall app ok for checking times and booking tickets, but could be hugely improved. Just about every other transport app allows you to add e-tickets to Apple wallet. Not this one. To make matters worse, the app times out quickly when you have the e-ticket on screen. Infuriating for the ticket checker and customer because the queue gets delayed whilst you reactivate / re-login. The app leads you to believe that foot passenger tickets are tied to specific times. Generally they are not. With just a little more effort this app could be transformed from mediocre to really quite good. ### 3/5 — Traveller *2021-09-04, version 1.1.14* The new update is much better then old one but still alot is missing. 1- app crashes after logging in and if you close up and few mnts after you try to login, it won’t start, therefore you need to shut the app down and start again. Also it will not start where you left of, it will reset the app soon as you come out of app. 2- No history gets saved it will delete the ticket history after the date. 3- no card gets saved nor connection to Apple Pay or PayPal If you solve these issue this app will be much better..! ### 2/5 — Cannot log into new account *2022-03-14, version 1.1.20* Created an account, entered details and created a password. Went to log in but had no idea what my username is. Tried my name, with and without spaces.
