However, it does have some draw backs. The main one being it’s nearly dead in terms of player activity. The developers also seem to have completely stopped putting out updates. Which is such a shame because it has great potential and all it rly needs is a few balancing updates and some people to play against. Nothing new like teams or maps have been added in some time so it can get a bit stale. Although it’s discouragingly close to being a great game, the game play really holds it together and it’s still a lot of fun as it is. I highly recommend. ### 3/5 — Cheaters Have Made This Game Unplayable *2022-10-27, version 1.7* I used to really love this game. But apparently, there are Red Reign cheats out there that people have found online. I didn’t know this kind of cheating was possible in this particular part of the Apple ecosystem (Apple Arcade). I don’t know why people find cheating to be so fun. What’s the point of making everything so easy? It’s easy to tell that some hacking of the game is going on because some how or another, the opposition will literally have 50+ swordsman or what not when the game just started. No matter where you go on the map, you’re getting cursed, and his/ her characters are getting healed in another part of the map at the same time. All the while, capturing all of the wood mills and gold mines simultaneously. None of this stuff is humanly possible. So, it looks like I’m done with this game until they get a handle on the cheating ✌️ ### 3/5 — Better designations of levels *2022-10-17, version 1.7* I don’t mind playing against the computer but in the training mode, you get the same ribbon whether you beat it in easy, medium or hard mode so it’s hard to keep track to see if you are getting better or making progress. I’d like to see a different color or number or stars or something for each level so you know if you already beat it based on level of difficulty. ### 3/5 — It has potential *2022-09-16, version 1.7* The game has the potential to be a very great game but there are some things that need to be worked out. For instance you should be able to zoom out and see the whole playing field. You should also be able to send a portion of your troops one direction and keep some where they are or send them another direction ### 4/5 — Good, but lacks a few crucial features. *2022-08-28, version 1.7* It is a very good game, but it is very annoying that I cant send my units back to my base after they have been sent to one of the 3 capture points. Also, another thing I find annoying is that I cant keep my units stationed at any of the capture points, so by the time enemies reach it, it is too late. ### 3/5 — Could be better *2022-06-08, version 1.7* The game has its praise like all others, however some take always are mainly around the survival aspect of the game. This comes With unfair AI advantages such as being able to stay at a mine or a wood chopping station without having to push forward. This allows the AI to capture key stations that the player cannot defend due to multiple attacks on other sides. It destroys the games balance. ### 4/5 — Great game, could have more *2022-06-02, version 1.7* I think this game is a great game but maybe they could add some more. A leaderboard would be nice so you could see who’s won the most matches worldwide, and I think there should be a way to see how many battles you’ve won and lost. It would be also be nice to have a campaign because in solo mode you have the levels but you can clear them quickly so I think it would be nice to have a campaign where there are a lot of levels that could maybe have some twists like you can’t use wizards. Although, there is so much that could be done to make it even better from adding more team/mobs/characters to play as, other game modes or even partnering with a friend or multiplayer online players. I feel that there should be a 4th upgrade just for your building and wall. I hope this game will update soon with the amount of bugs that exist, I really like this game and I feel that it could be so much more than it already is. ### 4/5 — This game could be great but *2021-06-03, version 1.6* There’s not a whole lot to multiplayer, and there aren’t too many people active. If there were more modes and better matchmaking it would be way better. This game has great potential, but it needs work. Patches and more added content is required to have a better game. The concept and gameplay deserves the 4, and it runs pretty smooth. But I’ve never played a game like this, so the lack of instructions leaves me not really knowing what I’m supposed to do. I find myself drifting away after playing a few games to see if anything might click for me. (There’s a “training” section, but oddly it contains no training.) I can’t judge multiplayer, since I’m mainly interested in playing the computer anyway. It seems polished, though, whatever is going on! ### 2/5 — Fun game, when it's not glitching *2021-03-02, version 1.6* My son and I play this game together and really love it but it's near impossible to play a match against each other. When we play, shortly into a match, the game says one of us surrendered and then we both win. I don't know if anyone reads these reviews or even cares. This would seriously be a five star game if the devs fixed all these bugs. ### 2/5 — Cheating has ruined this game *2021-02-13, version 1.6* I used to play this game a lot, but lately it seems like there are some cheats that many players are using that completely destroys the multiplayer experience. I’m a good player, I capture all of the bases but yet the opponent seems to be out producing in every aspect. How is this possible when I control literally everything on the map? ### 4/5 — It’s good but there’s room for improvement. *2021-02-12, version 1.6* When I first started the game, I loved it! It’s easily the best game on Apple Arcade. But some things could use some more work. I like the new update with the fae, but they cause a lot of glitch and the two new worlds that went with it are also hard to play in because of the glitch, and then all of a sudden it says the other person you play against did white flag, even when they didn’t, but it still says you both won?? Confused. Also, on the map forest allies on the mode survival, the arrows don’t work with how you can point the direction in which the army goes, please fix this. And also, I feel like all the wizards are each army are extremely powerful, one can freeze people while dealing damage, another does huge damage with a single blast, and another can spawn this huge monster that fights on its own while the wizard can fight independently. Please work on this part where the wizards have so much advantage that strategy at this point doesn’t matter. ### 3/5 — Anybody else think the enemy AI is OP? *2021-02-01, version 1.5* Like a min in and there already sending an army. Your trying to build an army and build your base and you have waves of armies coming at you. In survival I’ll get 30 troops trained and next thing you know the enemy is sending high level troops already. I don’t get how you can win when your constantly being attacked and wasting money to train more troops. Can’t advance without an army coming down the path I’m going down even if it’s early and I try to sneak a troop to grab a mine or mill. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Has potential… *2022-10-04, version 1.7* This game has a lot of potential, but here are the main problems: - multi player rarely works - Survival AI is ridiculously difficult, don’t even waste your time. -the game is about being able to do half a dozen things on your screen almost at once My recommendations: -better multiplayer, but for that you need more players so first you need to address the overall flaws in the game. -drastically lower the progress of survival AI, it’s wayyyyyyy too OP - make the different classes have more unique abilities that can counter each other. For example humans cavalry being way stronger and doing multi damage. Only the Fae class has a unique ability, to stun for way too long a period. -decrease the number of things you can do, for example I recommend getting rid of the farming boost by holding, make it a steady amount. -intro new classes and characters to the game once or twice a year ### 1/5 — Worst game ever *2021-12-24, version 1.6* I don’t ever leave reviews. But I am stuck in a hospital room with Covid. This is the hardest game I have ever played. You get recourse way too slow and the point of the game is just awful. Even playing this game on easy and training I lose. I’m 31 and have been playing games for years and this game right here makes me want to throw my phone out the window. If you like the feeling of loosing your going to love this game. Trash trash trash ### 1/5 — Crashes/hard to find games *2020-11-18, version 1.5* I want to give this five stars, I really do. Problem is, three games in a row just stopped working. You can move the screen around but cannot select anything or do anything. Even worse is it takes so long to find a game. I’m happy when I find a game but it’s like a 80% chance the game will crash. If the crashing can be fixed and it becomes easier to find opponents I would definitely give this five stars. Edit to review: dropped down to one star. Four games in a row just stopped working. Don’t waste your time with this game. Once you actually get into a game it’s much more likely to crash or stop working than allowing you to actually play and finish the game. ### 1/5 — Needs improvement *2020-09-01, version 1.5* The multiplayer functions doesn’t work and it’s not clear if that’s because there’s no one else playing or because this game needs a patch or something. Upper levels seem like they rely less on AI strategizing and more on giving the AI advantages through more resources (mainly shown by how quickly they can create so many troops and also how quickly they advance). I would rather have it be a level playing field where the AI just gets smarter rather than basically cheating. The game has only gotten clunkier. No way to play multiplayer because it always freezes or glitches. There’s not real way to tell what units are good since they just cost more while being just as frail as their cheaper counterparts. This game has so much potential, but it’s being wasted and ruined by its developers. ### 2/5 — Something isn’t right *2023-06-27* This game is fun but needs serious balancing work. Tbh the Fae is way overpowered. Most “experienced” players only play the Fae bc well they are completely overpowered. If you know how to play the game you will win 99.9 percent of the time if you play Fae against another race. They are overpowered for their starting units. They will win every exchange for capturing the beginning resources and after that the games basically over. Just make lightning units after if you don’t win automatically by spamming starting units at the resources that will eventually decimate any other unit in the game. Most “experienced” players just play Fae over and over because it’s essentially easy mode. The Fae starting units especially hugely need to be nerfed it’s basically ruined the game and the lightning units and it’s why most players just play Fae over and over which I also call the “lame” “easy button” players. ### 2/5 — Something isn’t right *2023-06-04* This game is fun but needs serious balancing work. The current bug lets the multiplayer game load but then 5 mins in, it freezes and the opponent surrenders and waves the flag, it happens with quick and hosted games. My opponents clearly has no intentions of giving up so early. I wish the game had a way to report bugs inside the app, so that it is instant and ppl do not have to leave negative reviews. ### 2/5 — Amazing idea w/ ok execution *2022-06-17, version 1.7* Great idea, but the healing feature/finger on screen damaging troops idea takes a lot away from the game, and the lack of transparency kills the game, it does not let us know how much attack, health, etc. A troop has making it a guessing game, and there’s no way to recover when one side has had the resource farms for longer then the other side ### 2/5 — Super fun until you realize why you’re losing *2021-12-06, version 1.6* It’s a bunch of little things that would make this game unable to put down. First have it easier to target your resource collectors and a group of allies to direct at once. A lot of the time I’m just clicking on nothing it seems like. Also the margin of error with the glitchy scrolling is part of the reason I’m putting the game down. The other is the enemies ai can put them out of harms way at a collector and block your ability to grab it. That makes the game unplayable. I really hope they fix some stuff it could be really fun ### 2/5 — Amusing but freezes too often *2021-08-02, version 1.6* I want to like this game, but on certain maps freezing is a big problem. I’m on an iPhone 12, so it’s not like I’m trying to run this on a really old phone. If not for freezing issues, it would be a mildly amusing little RTS. Also, I’ve given up on expecting a smooth experience with multiplayer. We often play together and We love all the additions that they continue to add. The only down side is that it’s really hard to connect up and play together on it. The game often hangs waiting for you to find your opponent after you’ve typed in the number.
