## What is Redact?

Photos contain more than pixels.

A screenshot, ID photo, shipping label, or everyday picture may also reveal phone numbers, email addresses, faces, codes, GPS location, device details, and capture time.

Redact helps you inspect and remove this information before sharing. Detection, redaction, and re-encoding run entirely on your device. Your photos are not uploaded, and no account is required.

KEY FEATURES

• Detect potentially private text, faces, QR codes, and barcodes on-device
• Find phone numbers, email addresses, ID numbers, bank card numbers, and text lines containing sensitive labels
• Add manual redaction areas when automatic detection misses something
• Apply fully opaque solid redactions that are baked into the exported pixels

Automatic detection may miss handwriting, complex backgrounds, or information that depends on context. Zoom in and review every redaction before saving or sharing.
