Wished this company realized, we Readers are smart enough, to know, that Good money is made off of the ADS!!! ### 2/5 — Wife He Lost *2026-07-24, version 1.7.0* I thought these were supposed to be free so they’re not free because now I am stopped at chapter 8, and I have to buy coins in order to continue. I really want to finish the story but since I’m not gonna be able to finish the story, I’m going to have to delete you. This just sucks. Thanks China or whatever Idiot decided this to do this. ### 2/5 — Not worth the time *2026-07-21, version 1.7.0* Very short chapters (a couple of long paragraphs) and requires lots of ads to unlock. 1st chapter=1 ad, the second chapter=2 ads and so on. So for about 12 long paragraphs you must watch about 21 ads. There are lots of these apps that you get more reading time with less ads to watch so I will be deleting it. Two stars only because the plot on the story I started was semi-unique. ### 3/5 — Would be 5 star if *2026-07-15, version 1.6.1* …the chapters were actual chapters. Giving a name to a paragraph does not constitute a chapter. The spelling is good, the writing is and the story is too. But greediness kills it! ### 2/5 — TOO MANY ADS *2026-07-12, version 1.6.1* Downloaded this app for a story I couldn’t find anywhere else. I don’t mind watching ads to read chapters, but in this app it gets ridiculous the further you read. Started with one ad. Now on chapter 11 and have to read five ads to unlock the chapter. I saw another reader had to watch up to 18 ads?!? The chapters are too short for me to waste time on so many ads. It’s too bad. Could have been a good app. ### 3/5 — Good but… *2026-07-07, version 1.6.0* So far it has a few good stories and seems to be well written. But, you do need to either pay a fair bit (more than a normal book considering chapters are over 250+) or watch videos. Watching videos has a glitch and you’ll need to keep closing the app to force restart it after every video. Super annoying ### 2/5 — Review time! It’s a lengthy one! *2026-07-01, version 1.6.0* I love these types of books and often read the ad snippets. However, when I visit the relevant app, they immediately ask for all my data, so I back away and ponder the “what ifs.” Then I found The Cursed Blood on the Red Chapter app, which let me download and read without obvious data requests. Bonus! I read until about chapter 8 when it introduced the frustrating ‘buy or wait’ feature. So, I waited. Three times, I waited eight hours just to access one more chapter. Frustrated, I decided to accumulate open chapters for a binge. Then, I started thinking. It’s all bad news. I opened a few chapters and checked the total number of chapters in the book: FOURHUNDREDANDTWENTYEIGHT! 428 chapters to open one by one with ads, wait times, or purchases. 428! But wait… for some reason, I could read the few chapters I had unlocked, and for the next few days, I could keep reading more. No ads, no credits, no buying, no wait. Awesome! 🤩 But wait… I’m over 120 chapters in, and it kicks me out to wait for chapter 11. I can only unlock from chapter 11, one at a time. I am Mad. I did the math. Maybe I’ll just buy it. All bad. Buy 86 chapters for just $30! And other ridiculously priced options. I could essentially pay over $100 for an admittedly interesting but poorly written book. I struggle to pay $15 for a well-written book I’m eager to read! Let’s talk about the book, The Cursed Blood. It grabbed me from the start. In the first half dozen chapters, there’s probably less than 10% actual dialogue. It’s mostly describing to us what’s happened, is happening, and what’s been said. Normally, I hate that, but it suits this book perfectly. It’s very much a ‘character in shock, watching the world happen from a distance.’ It doesn’t get much more talkative later either. Still, I love the story and the characters. I quickly noticed that they might not have revisited a chapter before writing another, as there are quite a few continuity issues. And 120 chapters in, it’s only getting worse, but I’m still loving it, so I keep going. Then it kicks me out, and I have to unlock from the front, and it’s not worth it at all. Not to mention that 428 chapters at 8 hours each could take me closer to six months than not. Though my math might be off, even a couple of months to continually remember everything going on, plus all the continuity issues to track, is just a hell no. Continuity Issues: - They have serious issues with numbers. Not sure they understand how they work. If you have 43, lose one, and gain 8, you don’t still have 43. - Timeline. Again, not sure they understand how it works. If someone has been at something for weeks or months, and then you say they start something that takes 10 months, it’s not simply 10 months from the start… there was time before they started to be added to the count. And if they are going to be somewhere for 2 weeks and were injured after they got there, they didn’t get those injuries 3 weeks ago. Just saying. - General continuity. Someone is single, but now they are losing their mate. Someone was in the vehicle for the trip away, but now they are on the wrong end of the phone home. Someone’s pregnant, but it’s never mentioned again (nor do those pesky numbers change). In several chapters, ‘it’ happens this way… but in future chapters, ‘it’ happened differently. In the camp, they have a Sat phone, but then they have to use a phone bunker because it’s so far nowhere that landline is the only option, only to be chatting on a mobile a chapter or two later. The healer stayed home for a good reason, then after an event where he’s nowhere in sight, he’s just there a few days later, like he was always there, with no mention of the important reason back home! She’s having a picnic with people present one day, and having to call them (on the mobile) the next day while they’re in their childhood home… while they are still at the event 🤦‍♀️. And should I mention that I’m pretty sure this other person has been living in the childhood home all along, possibly while not living in the childhood home all along? At the end of a chapter, she clearly said, “I’m going to do this,” and at the start of the next chapter, she’s telling someone else that the other person told her she has to do what she clearly brought up and decided to do on her own (she’s not a blamer). There’s one point where she wanted to ask if the baby was walking… but 6 years later, that baby was 3 years old. Hadn’t been born before she left, and she’d had no contact with them in those years, but she knew his name and gender? - They’re wolves who heal fast, but then later, they are still damaged days later. But when they’re attacked and try to pin it on the group, no one thinks to ask if any of the bad guys have injuries from last night, nor are any showing any. Pretty sure there was at least one broken nose in the fight plus more injuries, meanwhile, our groups is still showing damage 4 days later. I could obviously go on. Despite these issues, I was still enjoying the book. Looking back, I was, but the continuity issues were starting to grate on me, so I’m not sure I would have made it through the whole book anyway. Summary. We all understand these types of apps are farming us as the product. If you want us to be farmed, you have to at least pretend you’re making it worth our time. Making it appear beneficial for us will have us coming back to continue being farmed. Making it obviously not worth our time means you have less people agreeing to be farmed. Let us choose one ad for one or two chapters, but watch 2 and get and hour, or 10 and get half the book. Once you’ve got the whole book, you can come back and read it whenever you want, but an ad or two to unlock it for a week. Surely having a roster of frequent readers would make you more money than a list of frustrated ex readers who only tried for a week? If you want a beta reader for continuity… let me know. I would of course expect to be paid instead of farmed 🤣 ### 4/5 — The bastard heir *2026-06-28, version 1.6.0* Excellent writing, not the standard wolf book ### 2/5 — Costs more than actual books *2026-06-24, version 1.5.1* The book I was reading (The Bastard Heir) was well written (unlike most of the trash from other similar apps) and the story really had me hooked. So I gave up on the endless ads and spent $19.99. I have no idea how much of the book is left, only that the story is no where near finished and my $19.99 is gone. Bottom line: it’s cheaper to buy an actual book. I suspect the cost of finishing one RedChapters book is equivalent to buying a best seller in hardback. ### 3/5 — Seventh Time *2026-06-23, version 1.5.1* Not enough chapters bread to say truly about the book ### 1/5 — Ads!! *2026-06-14, version 1.5.0* I have never seen any app with more ads. Each time you unlock a chapter, the next chapter gains an ad to watch. So for chapter 1, 1 ad. Chapter 2, 2 ads. Chapter 3, 3 ads, etc. while the first couple chapters are free, the ads only keep increasing. If I want to finish this book that has 375 chapters, the last chapter alone will have about 370 ads to watch. Absolutely insane! If I could give 0 stars, I would. Do not start a book on here if you struggle to stop mid way. You will give up or end up paying way more than a standard book would cost. ### 1/5 — Not Good *2026-06-14, version 1.5.0* Wish this site could be rated “0” stars. I am currently at 23 ads to read 1 very short chapter. Does their greed know no bounds? Ridiculous!! Really great stories. But the only way to read them is pay per chapter. Nobody in their right mind would sign up to that. And expecting people to watch one extra ad for each chapter when the books run several hundred chapters is crazy. I would have to watch over 200 ads to unlock one chapter at some point. It doesn’t start out with tons of required commercials but I’m on chapter 15 and now have to watch 6 to get the next chapter…. ### 1/5 — Stories are good but *2026-07-15, version 1.6.1* Just downloaded this app and I’m on my 1st book which is very good I might add. I also understand that it’s not for free and that’s where adds are provided to be able to continue reading however the 1st chapter is one add every other chapter adds an additional add + what was already added. So if u get to the 4th chapter it’s 4 adds.10th chapter it’s 10 adds for 1 chapter with like 3 lines. I will be deleting the app regardless of how good the book is because I don’t have that much patience nor is the book worth an additional 10mins per chapter. It’s written so well that it flows deep into your psyche, creating an urge to keep reading that makes the outside world fade away. Such writing talent is rare - full of detail yet never boring, full of pace but never confusing, full of emotion yet never unbelievable. So smartly written that it is utterly compelling and a joy. Thank you. ### 5/5 — The Spare They Came Begging For *2026-08-12, version 1.7.0* This is the best story I’ve come across on the reading apps. The discrepancies are small and don’t interrupt the flow of the story. Most of the stories I’ve read I don’t finish because they are so long they become repetitive and tedious, or the timeline is completely screwed, or they are non-sensical. I like that a chapter unlocks each eight hours, as well as receiving coins for checking in. I was able to read 2-3 chapters a day.
