### 3/5 — Please Consider Open Sourcing

*2026-08-03, version 5.5.1*

Reeder used to be my favorite RSS app, but the replacement is not my cup of tea. Unfortunately, because the app is closed source, nobody can pick up where the developer left off and continue to support the true “classic” RSS experience. Please consider open sourcing your code so it doesn’t have to die!

### 2/5 — Useless in Portrait Mode

*2026-07-21, version 5.5.1*

Reeder Classic on iPhone in portrait mode is useless. You cannot tap the back arrow in the upper left corner. You must be in landscape mode to go back. The updated version of Reeder does not appear to have the ability to subscribe to my existing Feedbin feeds so all the links need to be manually entered. Can we please get one of them or both of them to work properly?

### 2/5 — Needs to be updated

*2026-05-09, version 5.5.1*

Seems the developer has abandoned this app. Unfortunate.

### 3/5 — Please fix YouTube bug

*2026-05-05, version 5.5.1*

Please fix YouTube “Error 153” for embedded videos

### 4/5 — Solid RSS reader that needs love

*2026-04-19, version 5.5.1*

Reeder Classic is by far the best RSS reader on iPhone. Animations are butter smooth and navigation is simple. The challenge is the app is not a prime focus anymore as the new “Reeder” with its inbox for everything approach has taken priority. I would be happy to pay a subscription to have this app actively maintained. Here’s hoping for a resurgence of Reeder Classic.

### 2/5 — The app started crashing on iOS 26

*2026-04-12*

The app started crashing on iOS 26

### 2/5 — Perte de fonctionnalités

*2026-04-11*

### 4/5 — Deserves Updates

*2026-04-08, version 5.5.1*

Please update Reeder Classic to Liquid Glass and continue to contain it. Reeder Classic always was and remains THE optional RSS expedience on iOS, but needs optimized. Sorry, Reeder 5 is pretty but makes no sense to me and not something I want to transition to.

### 4/5 — Stopped working in the new year

*2026-03-03, version 5.5.1*

I enjoyed this app until it stopped updating Jan 30 2025

### 2/5 — App is great but sometimes annoying

*2026-02-07, version 5.5.1*

While scrolling through my feed of articles, anytime my sources get updated it pushes my feed list of what I’m currently viewing way down to make room for the new stories. So I have to scroll down a bunch to where I was before, very annoying.

### 3/5 — Pour one out for Reeder 🥲

*2026-01-27, version 5.5.1*

Reeder is one of the best apps of all time. But development has slowed, and bugs are piling up. Moving on to another RSS app until this gets fixed.

### 2/5 — Bugs are not getting fixed

*2026-01-20, version 5.5.1*

I noticed that bugs are not getting fixed here. For example, sorting articles by oldest to newest or newest to oldest doesn’t work. There are other issues like this. Very frustrating. In addition, the developer does not respond to support requests. Time to start looking at other apps.

### 2/5 — App is not syncing data

*2026-01-10*

I won’t even try the new app again which is subscription based after the way they have treated this app

### 2/5 — bug

*2025-12-19, version 5.5.1*

无法接受twitter的信息！

### 2/5 — Neglected by dev

*2025-12-09, version 5.5.1*

Silvio does not seem to respond at all to support queries regarding Classic at all. Reeder is a solid RSS client but I can’t recommend it given its now uncertain future.

### 2/5 — Article viewer still doesn’t work

*2025-10-30, version 5.5.1*

Good app until you have to read something in the article viewer, have to kill the app every time I need to read something in the article viewer.

### 2/5 — Was great, now wasting away

*2025-10-23, version 5.5.1*

This has been abandoned in favor of the new Reeder, which is a worse app in nearly every respect. Such a shame because this was the best in class and now it’s wasting away with small but annoying display issues in iOS 26 that will only worsen with time.

I’m off to find a new alternative, and that alternative will not be the new Reeder.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Once was great

*2026-05-22, version 5.5.1*

Can no longer sync Feedly. Other than not displaying feeds, it’s still pretty.

### 1/5 — Feeds won't sync

*2026-03-11, version 5.5.1*

Feeds are failing to sync on demand.

EDIT: Reeder appears to still sync feeds on desktop and tablet, but will not sync feeds on mobile. Deleting the mobile app and reinstalling did not fix this.

### 1/5 — The worst version yet

*2026-03-11, version 5.5.1*

I’ve used both Reeder 4 and the latest Reeder, and both sync RSS feeds perfectly. However, Reeder Classic is a disappointment. While my feeds update with two new articles every hour and show up instantly on other versions, Reeder Classic fails to fetch them. Save your money—don't buy this version

### 1/5 — Feeds won't sync

*2026-03-08, version 5.5.1*

Feeds are failing to sync on demand.

### 1/5 — Abandoned

*2026-01-25, version 5.5.1*

I understand slow development but not a single update in 8 months?

### 1/5 — Пока кол!

*2025-12-23*

Разработчик, добавь в приложение возможность очистки кэша.

### 1/5 — YouTube videos don’t play

*2025-11-19, version 5.5.1*

Error 153
Video player configuration error

### 1/5 — Avoid

*2025-11-11, version 5.5.1*

Avoid this developer. Flashy initial releases that get abandoned in short order. There are better apps

### 1/5 — It’s broken and no Liquid Glass

*2025-10-06, version 5.5.1*

I’ve used Reeder since v1 back in the day and always supported the developer each new version (on multiple OS’s). But this one seems to be left out to pasture. It opens the wrong articles and doesn’t reliably sync. Plus there’s no Liquid Glass support. The new version 5 is not a suitable replacement either. So I’ve gone to a different app.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-09-27, version 5.5.1*

Sadly the bug has not been fixed yet and articles are still not being pulled up it just shows a blank page which can only be fixed to kick the app and reload.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Shame it’s no longer update

*2026-02-03, version 5.5.1*

This is a great app, and it’s a shame it’s no longer updated, especially for iOS 26. I prefer this over the new reeder release, perfect for rss feeds, also love it on my mac. This needs to be updated soon.

### 5/5 — Apple Watch app, please!!

*2026-01-30, version 5.5.1*

This is the best RSS app in the App Store and has been for many years. I would give anything to have a companion Apple Watch app that syncs to my phone. Right now I'm using two different apps and they unfortunately do not sync, and I'm not interested in setting up a Feedly subscription to manage this when the iCloud sync in Reeder is top notch. I would finally have the perfect Apple Watch set up if I could include Reeder, and I can fully leave my phone behind when I leave the house. Let me know what I can do to help make this happen!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2026-01-29, version 5.5.1*

Really great app.

### 5/5 — Still reigns supreme

*2025-10-23, version 5.5.1*

I don’t care if it hasn’t been updated in 5 months. For all intents and purposes this app is still the best in its class.

### 5/5 — An essential app

*2025-10-21, version 5.5.1*

Don’t usually leave app reviews but I’ve used, loved, and relied on Reeder for over a decade. It’s by far the best RSS reader out there. I would give it more stars if I could. I’d also happily pay more for it (specifically this legacy version) if it guaranteed continued maintenance/development.

### 5/5 — Great RSS

*2025-10-09, version 5.5.1*

Please don’t abandon this app for the new social media style app you made. The new app is NOT how I want to consume my feeds. I want an RSS Reader for that. I can use social media apps if I was interested in infinite scrolling.

### 5/5 — best

*2025-09-28, version 5.5.1*

with apple podcasts would be perfect
YouTube issue:
Error 153
Error configuring the video player

### 5/5 — 完成系

*2025-09-26*

僕たちはこのReederが好きなんです。

### 5/5 — Love it, and

*2025-09-24, version 5.5.1*

I found iCloud slow, but nobody else was complaining online; Apple or Reeder Classic, so it was just me. I realized instant sync is what I had before so I imported opml from my Files/Dropbox, so now it is as fast as before. As it's from my phone. I am no geek, I just love this product, & then Narwhal 2 for some Reddit content.

### 5/5 — Just use it

*2025-09-22, version 5.5.1*

Probably ¾ of my iPhone use is with this app.

You can organize and follow the news and writing you want to see and keep track simply. The new version isn't as good at handling as many feeds as this because everything is put into one giant pile. If you want to keep organized by theme or interest, this version is far better.

It would be nice if both versions used the same OPML source, but I didn't find that to be possible.

I am sticking with this version.
