I’ll keep working with it but other than the ability to increase text size I see a little or no improvement in this version. I’ve been using Reeder for years and I’m very disappointed. This version introduces several new features which I have no interested in such as timeline ### 3/5 — Had to abandon after years *2026-08-02, version 2026.6* I couldn’t use the new version. I sent multiple requests to support for assistance and never received a reply back so just gave up. After years of using the older reeder I wanted to use this new one and I can’t even see a way to simply pull the feed and show one line per entry. I always get a preview despite searching for a way to turn it off. Some feeds I’ve used it says it can’t find when putting the entry to pull it despite other feed apps finding it just fine. I’m so used to using this so having to give up on it is disappointing but I wish the developer well and hope others can figure it out. ### 2/5 — Step backwards *2026-07-11, version 2026.6* No longer supports self hosted fever server. I use Arc browser and I followed the instructions on the repo and the extension still does not work. I tried finding the devs email but found nothing, so sorry for having to leave a review but I need assistance with this. If I go long enough between app openings then on refresh it won’t fetch all the articles that were published between refreshes. ### 3/5 — Buggy *2026-06-19, version 2026.6* I use a VPN, update feeds a startup fails and I’m forced to manually refresh feeds, before this I have to manually switch locations on my VPN in order to get feeds to refresh. Also, when viewing YouTube videos, if the screen turns off the current video will freeze and I’m forced to close the app completely before it can play again. ### 2/5 — Regression from Classic *2026-06-08, version 2026.6* Missing some features that I loved in classic: cleaner timeline where I can tell where I was reading last ### 3/5 — Still Has Potential *2026-06-08, version 2026.6* The rapid improvements after launch seem to have been stopped dead by implementing liquid glass and working on other apps, which is a shame. There's still a lot of room for improvement here: more font and display options would be welcome, article search and image viewing need some work, and often Bluesky posts don't display attached links/media at all. ### 2/5 — If all you want is a timeline of intermingled feeds *2026-05-18, version 2026.4* Originally Reeder allowed each feed to be viewed independently. I prefer that approach because I like scanning articles within a context rather than the firehose of everything all at once. Over time Reeder has shifted to a preference of the timeline view of intermingled feeds. But I could always find a way to view each feed’s timeline in isolation. Recently that has been taken away and there is only the combined feed timeline. Not for me. I’m switching to NetNewsWire. Like, the feed is too sensitive to scroll without activating an article. ### 4/5 — Nicht alles verbessert *2026-04-20* Gegenüber dem Reeder 5 (heute Classic) hat sich nicht alles verbessert. Ich persönlich vermisse irgendwie die Funktion „Alles als gelesen markieren“ und dass die Timeline eines von mir erstellten Ordners beim Öffnen nicht immer automatisch auf die neueste Mitteilung springt und mich so entweder zum scrollen oder mehrfachen Klicken zwingt, fühlt sich mühselig an. Zu guter Letzt würde ich gerne noch die Ordner nach meiner eigenen Reihenfolge sortieren können, da ich immer gerne von den anstrengendsten zu den schönsten Nachrichten lese. Dann wäre das schon ein Top-Reeder und wäre mir den 5. Stern wert. Leider sollte man auch wissen, dass dieser jetzt auch ab einem gewissen Punkt Geld kostet. Aber nun. Qualität hat nun mal heute seinen Preis und man merkt an sehr vielen Stellen, dass sich hier richtig Mühe gegeben wurde. ### 3/5 — Perfect (except it’s not an RSS reader) *2026-04-18, version 2026.3* This app is infuriating because it has great features, basically perfect design, a very reasonable subscription price, and ideal privacy practices, but it is unusable because there is no way to mark an article as “read.” ### 2/5 — Feels Half-Baked, Missing Features *2026-04-15, version 2026.3* As a long time Reeder user I figured it was time to download Reeder 2 and give it a test. I assumed that most of the option from the original app would be available in the new and improved app, but was left sorely disappointed. Control over the headlines size and preview length is MIA, meaning I can now only see 7 stories at a time as opposed to 15 on the old app. That’s if there are no photos included, which for some reason display full width in the preview menu sometimes. There’s also zero indication of if a story is read or not. I don’t need a red badge, but some way of knowing if I’ve read something before would be helpful as someone with +20 feeds who can sometimes only catch up once or twice a day. Finally, the new horizontal slideover animation when switching stories feels much slower than the previous app’s vertical switch to the next story. Either way, I paid for a yearly subscription to support the developer (Reeder 1.0 is one of my most used apps) so I hope improvements come over time. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Slick looking but impossible to delete articles *2026-08-10, version 2026.6* Very slick, but it is simply impossible to delete a read item in a feed… how can you manage what You’ve read then? ### 1/5 — Not recommended *2026-08-04, version 2026.6* Some bugs like being unable to add some feeds remained unsolved, and emailing the developer didn't get any response (already three months). For subscription I don't expect new features delivered but the reliability of the basic functionality with communication to users, if they face issues. Understanding the only developer is busy but when you launch an app with a subscription plan you should evaluate whether you can handle the enormous workload for both developing and maintaining apps. ### 1/5 — Loss of third party feed support *2026-07-30, version 2026.6* I have used and paid for Reeder for various versions and upgrades, and is one of the best reading experiences, hands down, on iPad and the Mac. However, the removal of any third-party feed service has killed this app for me. I tried to move feeds over and then stopped - just wasn’t worth my time when other readers exist, and I’d lose web view functionality if i did it. You should know going into this that that support that existed in prior versions was dropped for this rebirth version, and it wasn’t clear that it’s iCloud only. I don’t want to move all my feeds from feedbin etc. Into an iCloud-only sync app, limiting where I can view those feeds and on what devices. A shame this happened, maybe understandable to simplify support, but further closes an open standard into a closed one. Now it’s loud, noisy, and gives you less control over your feeds! Looking for something to replace it. I’ve been a customer for a long time, but that ends soon. Horrible app! Avoid this version at all costs. ### 1/5 — Ruined App *2026-01-29, version 2025.9* I’ve been using Reeder for over a decade. I just downloaded and signed up for this version. The idea that I can’t show only unread post is absurd. Terrible UX. Silvio can have my $10 bucks, but now I have to look for another RSS Reeder. Come to think of it, I’ll just have Claude Code build me one. What a disappointment. ### 1/5 — Subpar and misleading . DO NOT USE FOR WORK. *2026-01-26, version 2025.9* Not user friendly at all. Too complicated to use. Folders keep reorganising to default with no updates. No notifications to say new item in feed. Also does not update automatically, you have to manually go and refresh the feed to check for new items. Miss a day or two and it’s utter chaos. Badge icon does not show any notification or count either. Strongly do not recommend because even when I reached out to customer support thinking it may be a device or user issue, all requests went unanswered. Promptly cancelled my subscription and deleted the app. ### 1/5 — Mastodon Not Working *2026-01-16, version 2025.9.1* “Mastodon Security verification failed. Are you blocking cookies?” ### 1/5 — The Podcast bug still doesn’t resolved *2026-01-16, version 2025.9* If you listening a podcast on this app, pause it, then use a bluetooth headphones to listen some stuff on your phone, then turn off the headphone, then you found the podcast you paused on this app miserly resume playing without your permission, this bug happening on the first day I use this app, that is the first day this app on App Store. I came from reeder classic and the fact I can combine all my YouTube, podcasts and feeds into one is a plus and there are no ads with YouTube videos. ( some youtube channel does have issue with this but most are just fine). Reeder makes everything soothing to read, it feels like someone built this with so much love. I’m glad they’re charging a subscription now - because hopefully this app can now remain active longer! ### 5/5 — A novel take on RSS *2026-04-24, version 2026.3* Reeder is amazing. I loved the original version, and I think I love the new one even more. The app takes some getting used to for RSS users used to typical unread counts, but once you do, it just feels normal. Like scrolling social media. There’s no pressure to finish — just a little number telling you how many articles there are left until you’re caught up. (And if you don’t want that, you can disable it.) The iCloud Sync is bulletproof. You can stop scrolling on your Mac, take your iPhone out, and it’ll keep you right where you left off. The combined home feed of everything with no read counts is really working for me. ### 5/5 — An excellent reinterpretation of what an RSS reader should be *2026-03-26, version 2026.3* It took me a while to warm up to the approach taken by the new version of Reader as it seemed to turn everything I was comfortable with in the older Reeder on its head. After a couple of forays back and forth between the two versions I have finally settled on the new approach. After I few months with the new version I still have to remember that the letter K has now replaced J as the prime navigation key, and I still finding myself reflexively hitting the letter L (later) rather than J when I want to return to an article previously viewed. That aside, I’m getting to really like the new approach.
