Reef Life is the most comprehensive marine identification app available in the iOS app store. Reef Life now boasts 2,435 species, from 17 categories, that are fully documented and professionally photographed (3,300+). This app is perfect for divers, snorkelers and aquarium enthusiast that would like to not only identify, but learn about our salt water friends. Reef Life has GPS coordinates of more than 200 internally defined oceanic regions and sub regions. This update allows user to experience a much simplified process with the identification of species based on a specific location. - You can select from 31 pre-defined menu based regions, examples “Caribbean Sea”, or “Australia, tropical” or “West coast United States” and see the species only from that region. - You can manual drop “pins” on a location in our interactive map and search for species in that exact location. You can save as many searches as you wish in your “myPlaces” folder. - You can even select the “species in my current location” option to see only the species which are located within in your current location. Reef Life now offers users the ability to add their own species to the app. This includes the ability to: - Add all details and images to each species - You can also edit or update details of user created species. 3D Touch users can access all features quickly, as well as utilize our new "zoom view" on the image page. Press a location on the image you will see a zoom of just that spot. Each menu can be toggled to display presented species either in a list view format or as a grid view, depending on individual preferences. When I try to start the program it just closes the app. I have a iPhone 13 Pro Max so it’s not the phone. Too bad, I was really looking forward to checking it out. Please fix this issue. It’s worthless as is. I would recommend users to not download and install this program until a new update comes out. ### 5/5 — Marvelous App - Ignore Early Reviews *2022-08-06* This is a marvelous app for divers, snorkeling, aquarium owners, or anyone interested in tropical fish. This app, like so many others, seems to have a bad rap for earlier versions. It’s too bad Apple doesn’t apply a weighting system for new/old reviews. Reef Life works great on my iPad and my iPhone. The inclusion of the species rating as far as extinction is appreciated. Our oceans are in trouble, as well as some of the most beautiful fish that call the oceans home. After purchasing this app for study before an upcoming trip to Hawaii, I found it so useful that I am purchasing an underwater case for my iPhone so I can have it available on dives. Thanks developers for a wonderful app the WORKS GREAT! ### 1/5 — Does not open *2022-08-06* Using a XR with iOS 15.5 installed. Every time I touch the icon, it attempts to open; yet, a second later, it’s as if the app automatically closed. It also shows as creating a .db file too, under settings, general, phone storage, reef life. I have deleted, turned off phone, and reinstalled, yet the same thing. Additionally I was advised this $5.99 app had gone “free” recently, usually for limited times, yet, there is another version on the App Store listed as “pro”, which still costs $5.99. I not sure what’s going on, but it’s kinda fishy to me. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with iPhone 11 *2021-06-18* Purchased this, but I can’t even get it to load. Sad, really was hoping for a good app to help identify marine life I see while diving. ### 1/5 — Does not work!!!! *2020-02-24* The app does not work. I paid a great deal for the app to find that it doesn’t work. It appears to want me to add new specie to the homepage and nothing else response. Waste of time and energy. Do not download!!!! ### 5/5 — Perfect app for divers and snorkelers *2016-10-02* Although I have some of the other apps, I wanted to have this app as it has all species in a single app. I really like the new location features as this helps me find animals in a specific location. I use the Species in my Current Location feature all the time. I had one issue with the previous version as it listed all fishes (example) in one list, but the latest update fixed that where I can now select types of fish to display, example Wrasse (or any animal group).
