## What is REEL MUSEUM?

REEL MUSEUM is an unofficial, fan-made museum & appraisal app for classic fishing reels. Centered on ABU's Ambassadeur and Cardinal families, it gathers the looks, eras, and rough second-hand price ranges of legendary reels — presented like a quiet night gallery you can browse at your own pace.

■ Collection Hall (the "dex")
Browse classic reels as exhibit-plate cards. Tap any card to open a full detail sheet with its traits, history, price range, and year-and-color variants. Filter by shape (round / low-profile) or popularity, and search by model name or feature.

■ Year & color variants — 81 of them, across 26 models
The same model can be a different reel depending on the year it left the factory or the color it was finished in. A 1972 Big-A 6500C, the brown 6500 built for only ten months, the 1989 Japan-only Black Special 2500C, the wine-red single-lot run of 1992 — each one is documented with what to look for, when it was made, and what it tends to sell for.
Every entry is drawn from collector-community primary sources (ORCA/Fred Ribb material, realsreels.com, long-running Japanese collector archives, specialist dealers). Where the sources disagree, we say so instead of inventing an answer.

■ Appraisal Room (read the year)
Enter a reel's foot number and the app estimates its production year from the stamp format. Because the numbering rules changed over the years, it never asserts a single answer — it shows candidates with a confidence level, and honestly flags uncertain cases.

■ AI Appraisal & digital certificate
Snap your reel — or a photo from a marketplace listing — and AI estimates the model family. Adding a photo of the foot stamp improves accuracy. You can issue the result as a museum-style digital certificate to save or share. (AI provides identification hints; it does not guarantee authenticity or value.)

■ Put your own reel on display
We're collecting real-reel photos for the dex, now down to the individual variant. Found the champagne-gold 5000D, or a genuine red-thumb-bar original? Send a photo and it becomes that variant's exhibit, credited "Photo by: your name." Contributors earn honorary titles, and each accepted photo grants an appraisal ticket.

### 1.4 — 2026-08-23

- Tidied up the tabs. The Appraisal Room now offers three ways in: by foot number, with AI, or by answering questions.
- Added My Page to the tab bar.
- Photo contributions now take up to four shots at once, so you can send several angles together.
- Tap a photo in the museum to enlarge it, then swipe left and right through every shot.
- Added a foot imprint number field to photo contributions — fill it in and your photo is displayed with its year.
- AI appraisal now accepts up to two extra angle shots as well (four images in total).
- Added a button to save an appraised reel straight into My Collection.

### 1.3 — 2026-08-10

- Added the Library — a room for the curator's columns (full text with Silver membership).
- Five columns included: why the 2500C took off, spotting a reissued Cardinal, the brown 6500, four screws versus three, and why left-hand reels cost more.
- Added current models (Factory Tuned, CS Rocket colors).
- Fixed the supported-languages listing so all 14 languages now show correctly.

### 1.2 — 2026-08-06

- The AI appraisal now takes a model name and color from you. Fill in what you know and it gets more accurate.
- You can now contribute the very photo you had appraised straight to the dex — no need to shoot it again.
- Added a "Wrong model?" button on dex photos. Suggest a correction and help the dex grow with your expertise.
- New models: Ambassadeur 5500CA, 4000D, and the 4600C/RD (Imae model).
- Better localization and various fixes.
