You get a 2 week trial to see if it’s for you. Take advantage of it. If it’s for you, you’ll know. If it’s not, it’s not going to change for you. ### 3/5 — Pretty good *2025-08-07* I like the overall methodology it uses for notes. I dislike that there is no web app for Safari on Mac. There is no Android app, which would be fine except there is also no full mobile web app. It only allows you to access daily notes and no access to search your notes or create new notes. Only append to the daily note section. Unfortunately these issues are a concern for me as I’m someone who is using Android and Mac. I know. A weird one. In addition, their export is super anti-user friendly compared to a lot of competitors. It's slick, efficient, fast, and useful esp on desktop, but this ux slickness is missing on touch devices (especially the obviously neglected iPad version). Initially I enjoyed Reflect but now feel frustrated as iOS UI/UX issues disrupt workflow. I agree with focusing on core functionality, but the user experience should be smooth. On iOS, it's inconsistent despite the premium price. ( trying to select multiple paragraphs, screens jumping around unexpectedly, basic text formatting and various other silly annoyances) Other considerably cheaper apps offer more reliable and enjoyable ux experiences. My 3* rating remains unchanged after all this time. A product this mature should have smoother more polished UX by now. ### 3/5 — Focussed functionality *2025-03-31, version 1.0.30* 1 year later …. I still like reflect .. it is very efficient and fast and useful to use on desktop. Rather than trying to be all things to all men it focussed on some core principles in order to do them very well. The mobile app is well focussed on what you would typically want to do when out and about .. this is good. The dictation/transcription feature in particular is fantastic as is the ai implementation but I do still have irritations that spoil the mobile delight factor eg it is a pain doing something as simple and basic as bolding or highlighting a word after it has been typed ( ok if using md whilst typing) .. the friction free “value” seems to have been ignored here. Also the Ai operation can be painful on iOS if I make a mistake I and want to cancel the chat there is no easy way to do it. Silly simple UI function issues that should not be present on an otherwise polished app. iPad version although basically functional doesn’t feel finished…There are just too many rough edges and development seems very slow Overall it **feels** like attention to user experience on the iOS apps is after a year still somewhat stuck in the mud. (Shame as the macOS version is so good) Resolution of these type of basic UX / UI issues would push 3* -> 4.5* or 5* ### 3/5 — Good start - little progress since then *2025-03-13, version 1.0.30* I am missing many features and I see little progress since I started using the app one year ago. For the high price, I don’t think it is acceptable. However, the devs are nice and working hard. So I remain optimistic. For now, the app doesn’t fulfill my requirements for a personal note taking app, compared to competitors. ### 3/5 — Love the app but still has flaws *2025-03-07* This needs an iPad app or fix the Safari issue. It’s unusable on an iPad. Unless you want to use the weird blown up iPhone version. Rather than trying to be all things to all men it focussed on some core principles in order to do them very well. Sometimes whole lines of text completely disappear and, it is a right pain doing something as simple and basic as bolding or highlighting a word after it has been typed ( ok if using md whilst typing) all that’s needed is a toolbar button .. but nowhere to be found! Also the Ai operation can be painful on iOS as if I make a mistake I can’t easily cancel. App otherwise is good on phone but still not so good on iPad. It very much **feels** like development on the iOS apps has stalled as there are still rough UI edges that really should have been dealt with by now at this price level. Fingers crossed for a little iOS attention ### 4/5 — 99% the best note taking app *2024-12-27* This app is great. I primarily use the desktop, but the mobile app has most of the functionality of the desktop app as well. Some minor quirks that I hope they look into: 1. While the Kindle Sync option is optional, I think it should be separate from the onboarding because I overlooked it and it started syncing all my books… and comics…. And cookbooks. Which completely filled my All Notes section with authors from content I’m not going to note take on or haven’t even touched. A few resolutions could be clarifying what is going to be done ahead of time (I would’ve assumed it would only pull from books I’ve taken notes like Readwise does) or allowing to differentiate books from comic (not sure if possible tbh) 2. So thankfully this occurred when my notes were empty. Easy enough to just wipe everything and start fresh. Deleted it all and started using Reflects… but unfortunately all the authors and books returned. I was able to delete the books again… but I think I’ve come across a bug where I can’t search for that #author tag. It’s acting as though it doesn’t exist even though I’m looking at hundreds of notes created with the #author tags. (It has been a month and the issue has not occurred again. Could’ve been a minor glitch) Wants: 1. The top bar in All Notes on desktop should be configurable to what the user wants to access most quickly. 2. Not sure how to word this concisely, but when I’m searching for something, it brings me to a list of notes meeting the criteria, but maybe I click the note that wasn’t exactly what I needed… so I back out but now I’m just in my All Notes section. I have to redo the search criteria every time. Seems a bit cumbersome to have to do this numerous times when looking for something. 3. A Tasks widget so I can view this list from my Home Screen. Aside from those things, I love the app. It’s quick and meshing with my brain relatively well. It is definitely something I can see myself using for a long time. Road map is whittling down. Responses to feedback and suggestions have been hostile for no reason. Considering their focus is now AI, where there are now hundreds of AI note apps, there is nothing setting the, apart anymore. Better to move on and not rely on this service for your notes. ### 1/5 — No thanks *2026-01-13* Customer service is unreliable and unresponsive. I don't trust them. I don’t understand why there isn’t an officially released app by this point. There was nothing broken about it. So no Safari access. No iPad access. Very limited in where I can take notes. I previously said I won’t renew subs but new year and new mindset. I wanted reflect to be my journal and PKM system .. didn’t much work for me but I’m now using it as one part of a system where other app does the heavy lifting of pkms So realigning and only using for info capture and reflection I feel much less irritated . Would really like to see the search function improved to be more focussed on what it returns (very quickly I might add). I use it throughout the day to dictate notes and capture what’s happening as life unfolds. The date-based format and voice transcription make it easy to just show up and log the day without friction. To the team: thank you for building something dependable and for those of us who’ve been using Reflect day after day, please keep going as this kind of care makes a real difference. ### 5/5 — Bye Bye Apple Notes *2025-12-11* Reflect is such a better way of taking notes, has completely replaced Apple Notes for my daily note taking and core note taking app. I’ve been using it for two years straight now, and it’s the single App I recommend most to friends. Top three differentiators that make it better IMO: 1) AI dictation fully integrated into the app - OMG the ability to brain dump after a meeting, on a walk or run, in the car, etc and quickly process the transcript with AI and then incorporate it into my note structure has massively improved my productivity and information retention. Also great for transcribing zoom/teams/meet calls without a user logged in (i.e. incognito). 2) the Daily Note structure is really the way I’ve always wanted to use notes. It’s so much more intuitive. Each day, you have a note and then you can link different parts of your daily notes to your other notes (i.e. specific client notes, my Gardening Log, my personal reflections journal, etc). 3) Native AI processing of notes including advanced “Chat with Your Notes” feature to basically have an expanded context window for my historical notes in any category, time date, etc is amazing. ### 5/5 — Best note-taking app I’ve ever used *2025-09-01, version 1.0.35* I’ve been using Reflect for a couple years now, and I can’t imagine NOT having it. It’s the first thing I open each day, helping me organize my work, my personal tasks, and generally remember things I’d otherwise forget. Some might think “outsourcing” your memory in this way would make you less inclined to remember things, but it’s the opposite — I’ve developed a much better framework for memorizing key tasks thanks to Reflect and its AI features. If you’re on the fence about downloading it, the audio transcription alone is worth it. With this, I’m always one step ahead, no matter how many meetings I have per day. ### 5/5 — Reflect for flow *2025-07-21* I love that Obsidian and LogSeq put file over app and are malleable software. But to me, the flow of Reflect remains unbeaten, and that is more important on the day to day. I use it everyday for everything from short voice notes to longform writing. This is the greatest note taking/brainstorming/general productivity tool I’ve ever used. I highly encourage anyone thinking about getting this to watch all the tutorial videos on YouTube and really play with this during your free trial so you understand what Reflect is capable of. Yeah it’s a little pricey, but I promise you’ll have a smile on your face when you click the subscribe button. Hats off to the dev team. I’ve been using Reflect for close to a year now after deciding to leave Evernote after years (for many frustrating reasons I won’t get into), then trying out a couple other big names in note taking/2nd brain that I didn’t love. This app is worth every penny I have paid for it and more.
