### 2/5 — Used to be the best… Sorely Needs Update

*2024-10-18*

This used to be the best SSH iOS client, with all the needed features. However, it’s been over 4 years since the last update and due to default host key algorithm changes on SSH servers, this app cannot connect anymore to any given SSH servers. Really needs an update, and after 4 years there are likely other security patches that this client needs.

If they update this, it would deserve 5 stars again. As-is, this app is unable to connect anymore and could be a security risk to use.

### 2/5 — Not being kept up to date

*2024-03-25*

I’ve used this app for years. Sadly Micro Focus / Opentext haven’t updated it since 2020. It’s now impossible to connect to some servers without reenabling encryption ciphers OpenSSH deemed unsafe and removed from the default config.

### 2/5 — No longer developed?

*2023-11-21*

This was a pretty decent way to just dive in quickly to my homelab, I even thought seriously about paying for the extra features. Unfortunately now it doesn't seem to support modern SSH cyphers etc, so all I get is "encryption key failure" messages when trying to access mynservers, and the version history seems to suggest that a fix will be a long time coming, if at all. So I'm looking for a replacement (Shelly seems to work for me). Disappointing.

### 2/5 — Lack of updates!

*2023-01-21, version 2.0.7*

Also SSH2 don't connect to newer servers.

### 4/5 — iOS 15 issues

*2021-10-03*

A great app, been using it for years.

Seems as though there’s an issue with iOS 15 where it keeps deleting my ssh keys. Please fix.

### 2/5 — Problem with colors

*2020-01-22*

Used it on my iPad and it works very well but I just installed on my iPhone and there seems to be a problem with colors in the settings : adress in white on white and many options are the same or black on black : impossible to read

### 2/5 — Impossible to use in Dark Mode

*2019-12-14, version 2.0.6*

I’m not interested in navigating to my settings screen both before and after I use an app. Looking to try Prompt 2 instead.

### 3/5 — Frustrating at times, decent as free app, not paying $10

*2019-10-26, version 2.0.6*

You can’t always tell from the App Store ratings, but before I invested the $10 here I decided to try a $15 alternative. I am glad I did. I am very happy to have switched from this to that, Prompt 2, although I have yet to explore much of Prompt 2 beyond basic access. But already I find everything that I didn’t like about Reflection is improved in Prompt 2.

Moving in and removing this from my iPad now.

### 1/5 — Crashes on startup on iOS 12 and latest iPad Pro

*2019-01-31, version 2.0.4*

Tried deleting and reinstalling and it didn’t help.

### 3/5 — Worked well until I upgraded to iPad Pro 11

*2019-01-29, version 2.0.4*

I have been using this app for a while without problem. However, I recently upgraded to the iPad Pro 11 and it quit working within the first week of the upgrade. Now the App crashes on launch. I have deleted the app and all associated data, and then reinstalled the App, but it still does not work. It’s also unclear to me how to report the issues to support.

### 1/5 — Was good; now useless

*2019-01-23, version 2.0.4*

Does nothing but immediate crash on the 2018 iPad Pro. Used to work really well on older devices. It seems more or less impossible to contact support, so 1-star review it is.

### 1/5 — Abandoned by its developers

*2019-01-15, version 2.0.4*

Unfortunately the app doesn’t work on the iPad Pro and the developers have disappeared.

### 1/5 — Crashes on launch

*2018-12-30, version 2.0.4*

Reflection use to be the best SSH Emulator for iOS, not any more.

### 1/5 — Constantly crashes on startup

*2018-12-28, version 2.0.4*

Not sure when this started since I had to wait 3 months to get a new iPad Pro, but after getting a new iPad Pro 11” and iOS 12.1.1, The app refuses to open. Even after removing and re-installing.

Also, The app hasn’t been updated in 7+ months at this time and supposedly the last update was to fix an issue similar to the one I am having.

Use to love this app, but at this point unless I find another solution.

Yes, It is free... But doesn’t work w/ my config.

### 3/5 — iOS 11 upgrade removed full screen view

*2018-09-12, version 2.0.4*

It was pretty good until moving to iOS 11. Now there is no more full screen / way to get the keyboard off screen to view full screen status programs. Disappointed this hasn’t been addressed.

### 1/5 — Will no longer connect to 1and1

*2018-08-17, version 2.0.4*

I guess I’m out the $10 I spent as all the recent reviews echo my conclusion that the app no longer functions.

### 1/5 — There's an hour I can't get back

*2018-07-18, version 2.0.4*

It's the only terminal emulator I've tried for my iPad Pro that doesn't work and can't be configured to make work.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t connect to the newer Linux and Mac OS

*2024-08-14*

I’m getting “Encryption Key Exchange with Host Failed” error.

This app was last updated three years ago. Since then there were numerous updates to ssh to strengthen the key exchange encryption and to fix various CVEs.

If the developer is not willing to maintain this app in order to keep up, they should remove it from the App Store.

This used used to be a good app. Sadly, it fell so far behind into disrepair and turned into complete garbage that’s not worthy to be in the App Store.

### 1/5 — Used to work

*2024-05-24*

Used to work well, but not any more. Fails on handshake with newer ssh servers. I guess it’s been abandoned by the developer.

### 1/5 — In serious need of an update

*2023-12-21*

I can no longer use this for ssh connections due to the lack of support for new ssh key encryption methods.

### 1/5 — Once awesome, now useless. Please update

*2022-12-05, version 2.0.7*

No longer compatible with industry standard SSH security and is unusable. Please update with modern security ciphers.

### 1/5 — Was good, no longer works

*2022-09-14*

Cannot connect to any hosts that were working fine before… just get encryption errors. Shame. Now I need to find a new SSH client.

### 1/5 — Abandonware

*2022-03-17, version 2.0.7*

No longer interoperates with current versions of OpenSSH’s sshd. You’d have to enable key types on the server side etc. that are no longer considered secure.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2020-08-29*

Yes white text on white background, likely related to ipadOS 13 dark mode. No app updates in 11 months...

### 1/5 — Broken currently

*2020-02-08*

IP and Port is white text on a white background. Currently unusable. Probably to do with dark mode but the app should support this.

### 1/5 — It used to be good but horrible now

*2020-01-11, version 2.0.6*

This app used to be good. Now it’s really buggy,l and unusable, not supporting dark mode and now freezing any time I try to connect.

### 1/5 — Crashes immediately on iPad Pro

*2019-02-01, version 2.0.4*

This works well on my iPhone X, but on the new 12.9” iPad Pro it crashes immediately. The whole point of using the same app on multiple devices is to sync configuration, but now I have to find a new SSH, VNC client.

Please update this app!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fails on iOS 14.2

*2020-12-04, version 2.0.6*

Nothing happens! Solution: delete app and download again.

### 5/5 — Reflections for IPad YES!!!

*2019-01-22, version 2.0.4*

I’m not a “power iPad user”; I type with my index fingers, not my thumbs. I don’t “swipe” or “gesture”. But I certainly prefer cracking open my iPad to unpacking, booting, &c my laptop, and this application lets me make that choice.

And it supports multiple session windows! On iPad!

I use it to manage client Unix and mixed-OS server sites and my own servers, as well as to work on my Macs, from anywhere—-but pretty often, while sitting in bed! It has everything one needs in a terminal client—-INCLUDING TELNET. In the real world, however insecure it may be, telnet remains extremely prevalent. Legacy systems and fire walled restricted access LANs still depend on it.

So you get telnet, ssh, and all the solid Reflections bells and whistles. It isn’t free or cheap, but it is top-notch. I hope the suite is ported to OS/X, so I can share configurable across platform.

Five Stars for being exactly what it is supposed to be, and supporting multiple session windows. I don’t compare products to others in reviews. I imagine you’ll look at several products and decide for yourself. This is the best professional level terminal client for the iPad as I use them (for Systems Consulting).

### 5/5 — Best ssh app since iSSH was killed by Apple!

*2018-10-19, version 2.0.4*

I fear that I incorrectly castigated this app, having mistaken it for another crappy one. This is the best ssh app for iOS, and for a one time $10 I’m happy to support the developers. I just wish that terminal colors were fully RGB adjustable. I’m very picky about my screens matching system to color, and HOT MAGENTA is the closest I can get here. :-(
Oh, and 3min timeout on connections is absurd. Apple allows 10 minutes. Please give us at least that, so I don’t have to script screen session reconnects.

### 5/5 — Far and away the best green-screen emulator available for IOS

*2017-10-02, version 2.0.2*

Nothing beats it, particularly for free, but the paid features are a huge bonus and a great value.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2017-07-26, version 2.0.1*

It does everything payed counterparts do and even some things they don't. And it does have xterm support you just need to change terminal type in connection settings.

### 5/5 — The best in the class

*2017-03-11, version 2.0.1*

I have been using this product for sometime now and have found it to be the best of that is available. With the new features, mainly iCloud support, saves time from having to repeat adding entries on both my iPad and my iPhone individually. I also had to contact support on an issue that I was experiencing, first class support that went way above and beyond what I expected. I wish I could get support like this from some of my vendors at work. By the way, was a "user" issue, it happens.... Would highly recommend this product. Definitely first class.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2016-11-26*

From the people behind SUSE Linux & OPENsuse Linux.

### 5/5 — I love this app.

*2016-11-24, version 1.6.1*

Wonderful for remote SSH access. Attachmate has been doing remote connectivity for a long time (30+ years AFAIK) and they clearly understand what is needed (and what isn't). Rock-solid, and far better than other paid apps I've used (and ditched) at a price point that's hard to beat. Thank you for a solution that just works ...

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2016-10-27, version 1.6.1*

Coming from someone who never writes reviews for apps, I came back after using this one to say how great it is! Honestly the person/people who made this did a great job! 100% would recommend.

### 5/5 — Plethora

*2016-09-18, version 1.6.1*

I have downloaded numerous SSH apps, some at a high cost. This one sold me because you can EASLY change the font size. So unless you have 20/10 vision, get this app you will not be disappointed .
