### 3/5 — Disappointed

*2025-11-17*

I purchased Reflow a few years ago through the App Store. It was never great but worked well enough to transcribe drum scores and be able to view them on a screen. Now, a few years later, I open the app to use it again and see that it has changed to a subscription model. Despite having purchased it already, not all of the previous functions are available to me anymore — unless I pay for a subscription. I understand why the change was made but I am still disappointed. I don’t use Reflow enough to justify paying for yet another subscription so I guess I am back to writing out drum scores with pencil and paper.

**Developer response:** Your purchase should never have been gated. Legacy App Store buyers are unlocked automatically, and in March 2026 we dropped the subscription tier entirely — Reflow is one-time purchase only again.

Open Reflow with the Apple ID you originally bought under and tap "Restore Purchase" — your lifetime unlock should come back automatically.

For transparency: every Reflow purchase going back 15 years is grandfathered. We've since added optional pro features (music fonts, Clips, Design Mode) that new buyers can purchase separately, but legacy users can skip those and use Reflow with no restrictions.

We've added quite a bit since — better drum editing, rebuilt audio engine, MIDI import. Worth another look.

Your original purchase stands — and always did.

### 2/5 — New user interface a step down

*2024-09-27, version 22.0*

The new interface is far less intuitive than the previous one, making composing and editing on iOS so much more difficult. Saving and loading documents seems especially obscure, with it being far too easy to exit the a document without it being saved. So far I’m struggling to see any way in which this overhaul is an improvement at all - in fact just the opposite.

### 1/5 — Reflow

*2024-09-03*

I don’t know if you realize this app is missed up bad. I’ve use this Reflow for a long time and you guys finally working now it’s
No longer works so I want a refund. It don’t work now.

### 4/5 — iPad not saving my notations

*2024-08-27*

Notations disappear after I make them. I don’t see a save button. Love the app otherwise

### 2/5 — The new update is frustrating

*2024-07-17*

A lot of the new UI just straight up doesn’t work, or is more difficult to use.

It’s harder to write tabs/notations as other things now get in the way of being able to hit the button I am trying to hit and there is no way for me to move it aside.

I am unable to save my tempo changes as it’s just the numbers keyboard but nowhere to enter it.

It’s also quite frustrating that features that used to be free are now locked behind a payed subscription rather than a one-time purchase or given at the beginning

### 1/5 — Mise à jour décevante

*2024-07-06*

### 4/5 — Writing a score for Piano

*2024-01-23*

It has been a few years since I have used Reflow. I used to use it a lot and am now getting reacquainted with it. There seems to have been quite a few changes. Using it on a grand staff is a bit more difficult, I’m sure I will get used to it, but there are changes that are not intuitive for someone writing a score for piano. Also, the button for sharps is not working. I hope you put out an update that fixes this soon.

### 1/5 — Unusable on iPad Pro

*2023-07-04, version 18.8*

I’m using iPad Pro 5th generation iOS 14.7.1 and it is completely unusable.Tried for 2 days to write a drum score, couldn’t even write 4 bars. Upon installing the link to the video help files doesn’t work.
The help text file appears to be written for the desktop version. Cannot delete files, cannot select a bar by tapping and drawing a rectangle. Cannot step through the bar using arrow keys.
Almost nothing works.
I think this must’ve been written for an earlier iOS, it is by a huge margin the most useless app I have ever purchased.

### 5/5 — Still using Reflow after many years 🥇

*2023-02-19, version 18.8*

Thanks for your response. I have a load of crash logs in the analytics that I going to email to you. But, as I was also preparing to send you my Reflow song file, I noticed a spelling mistake in my song title, but every time I pressed DONE after correcting the mistake it crashed time and time again, so this time I selected SUBTITLE before tapping DONE and Reflow has never crashed since🤔 THUR

I purchased this app 10 years ago and it has been brilliant, but just recently I wrote some music into Reflow and it worked fine. I set up another instrument stave to start writing a second part, as soon as I re-selected the first instrument it crashed over and over again. I opened the same score in Reflow on my iPhone and all was well until I tried to select the other instrument- crash after crash!. Please can this be put right.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 26.5.3 — 2026-07-21

Stability and fixes

This update focuses on reliability and polish.

- Restore Purchase now reliably recognizes an existing purchase
- Time signatures no longer overlap in some notation fonts
- Chord names keep their accidentals, inversions, and symbols after reopening
- Clef octave markings are preserved when you save and reopen
- More reliable PDF, audio, Guitar Pro, MusicXML, and MIDI export
- Fixed several rare crashes

### 26.5.2 — 2026-06-11

Measure numbers

Reflow now numbers your measures. Turn them on in Score Style and choose how often they appear — every system, every measure, or every few bars — then align them to the first beat or the barline. Drag any number to reposition it, and set where the count begins.

Improvements
- MusicXML export now carries your measure-numbering setting
- Fixed a rare crash when importing certain MusicXML files

### 26.5.1 — 2026-06-02

Effects that sound right

Harmonics, slap, and pop now play back with higher-fidelity sounds. Natural harmonics ring clean, pinch and artificial harmonics keep their electric edge, and slap and pop use dedicated bass voices.

Tap, Slap & Pop on the page

These articulations now appear above the staff as T, S, and P — and their palette buttons light up when active.

Improvements
- Tablature ties no longer repeat the fret number; tied notes are joined with a tie
- Glyph Browser icons are clearly visible again
- Easier-to-read text in the bottom editing palette
- Fixed an effect's sound applying to the following note instead of its own
- Fixed the editing toolbar stretching off-screen on iPad — rows now wrap and scroll to fit

### 26.5 — 2026-05-13

Chord Diagram Designer
Build chord shapes visually with auto-fingering and barre detection. Tap frets to assemble a grip; Reflow suggests fingerings, identifies barres, and saves shapes to your library for reuse.

Tool Palette Refresh
Sharper glyphs across the palette with baseline-aligned captions. New buttons for Tap/Slap/Pop articulations, Stem direction, Shift Slide, and Flatten/Split/Join Clip. Custom icons for Time Signature, Key Signature, Clef, and Simile.

iPhone Cursor Control
Choose Joystick or D-Pad per orientation, with adjustable joystick sensitivity. Landscape defaults to D-Pad.

Improvements
- Fix crash opening documents whose score metadata was empty
- Fix crash on playback when a tablature note lacks a string assignment
- Fix palette crash on iPad in some screen layouts
- Fix chord-diagram barres not rendering on the score canvas
- Speed Trainer: start rate now applies on the first iteration
- Selection capsule: full pill is clickable
