You need to re-open it every time you want to see the time. Not handy at all ! ### 2/5 — Difficult to operate on the water *2023-08-19* This would be my preferred watch regatta timer except that the small buttons at the bottom of the screen are difficult to operate, particularly when on the water. Too often I’ve been unable to start / stop the timer because I ‘miss’ the button. If the buttons could be enlarged I’d be back on this app without hesitation. **Developer response:** In version 5.0 the buttons are enlarged! ### 2/5 — Not great. *2020-08-25* I tried this app last weekend using my Apple Watch. When the watch screen goes blank, the time defaults back to 5 min. We were on a 3 min start so it got very frustrating. The watch was hard to use when wet and I missed a couple of start blasts. That is not the fault of the app but worth mentioning for dinghy sailors. ### 3/5 — Should save the time after a reset, make the buttons bigger *2018-04-17* I coach high school sailing and we do two or three minute starts. I also sail large boats with five minute sequences. It’s very frustrating to have to change back to 2-3 min after every start. Also, if you’re not going to make a force touch action do something, disable it. It’s very hard to hit start accurately when it’s so easy to activate force touch. Finally I am often using touchscreen capable gloves which work but the buttons are really small and very easy to miss when trying to start a sequence. Sync function useful for ensuring perfect start. Cons: start, sync and reset buttons far too small. These need to be 1/4 of the watch face in size, difficult to hit accurately when on a moving boat! Always asks you for your health data. ### 1/5 — High performance dinghy watch *2018-10-24* Since getting Apple Watch I have been looking for a timer which will stay on for the whole 5 min countdown. This is another that doesn’t allow this most basic need for a starting watch. The screen will power down with seconds to go and with your hands full doing other things you have to guess the remaining time. Works like a charm. ### 5/5 — Awesome app *2015-08-12* This app is great. Flexible for both 5 or 3 min standard sequences (or 4, 2, or 1 min if you want). Sync feature is very powerful when racing. Part of advanced sailing timers. I've used my watch in up to 40mph of breeze on a windsurfer and it works perfectly. I don't think the other reviewer is a sailor, hence the very poor review :) ### 5/5 — Super Funktion, alles wie beschrieben! *2015-05-31* Die Applikation läuft wunderbar auf iPhone und AppleWatch. Nach ein paar Testläufen sind alle Funktionen leicht ersichtlich und lassen sich bei Regatten super einsetzten. Das iPhone beept bei jeder verstrichenen Minute, am Ende alle Zehn Sekunden und wenn man dann wirklich über die Linie sollte etwas eindringlicher. Das ist soweit sehr gut gelöst. Leider beept die AppleWatch nicht. Am besten würde sie auch vibrieren. Vielleicht lässt sich das in einen update noch umsetzen. Das Design ist sehr ansprechen und verdeutlicht durch die Flaggen auch die optischen Signale. Ich habe mich sehr schnell mit der AppleWatch App angefreundet und werde sie sicherlich noch öfters zum Einsatz kommen lassen. 5/5 Sterne! ### 4/5 — Really good. ALMOST fantastic. *2019-02-14* Developer Suggestion: Please update to fix the following issue with 3 min starts. In preparation for the first (3min) signal, I sync down to 3min and press start when the horn sounds. But if I sync down to 3min, and then lower my arm or the screen times out, when i raise my arm and wake the screen again the timer has reset to 5. Please make my chosen time stick even if the screen turns off before I hit start. Otherwise love it. Haptics are great. Ideal for the series 2 watch. ### 3/5 — Very close *2021-07-15* I was looking for a very simple count down timer for my watch and this one is it except when you hit stop at the end of your race your time disappears. It doesn’t happen if you use the phone but does on the watch. Please fix. ### 3/5 — Fair Regatta timer with potential *2021-06-20* Wish I could say I like this app. I use it regularly because it’s the only Apple Watch regatta time I’ve found… Pros: -It counts down… -You can change the number of count down minutes -you can sync down by minute But, I think this is very basic. Cons: -The app kicks you back to the your watch Home Screen when you tap the Stop button. Very frustrating after a general recall and you find you need to restart your app while maneuvering through the fleet to back to the start line… -lag time from when you raise you watch to look at the time and when the app “updates”. Missing: -lock mode? I find on occasion I’ve inadvertently touched my watch face and the app is closed… -rolling start -count down to a specified time (pursuit racing). In a nut shell: it works but lacks some very basic features. ### 3/5 — Good but...really tough to start timer *2019-06-15* Simple regatta start timer. Needs bigger buttons on screen, actually starting the timer I find really hard. Especially as you might have slightly damp hands juggling tilers, lines and sail controls. Once it’s going no problem, very good. Haptics are great. Alarm perfect. ### 3/5 — Ok as a back-up *2018-10-01* Many things I like about app. Like the display of signal flags. Like ability to sync. On iPhones it is fairly simple. More complicated on Apple Watch. It only does count-down-count-up. Would like to see count-down-repeat (we do rolling starts, multi-fleets). Needs beeps for last five seconds of each minute. This gives a better chance to sync at even minutes. Jury still out, still learning to use app. Ok as a back-up. Three stars.
