I didn’t need to spend $20 to download an adobe app which requires a separate subscription to use. Loads like scripts before FlashPlayer was phased out, and the login support page doesn’t load either, says to “contact the website owner” 🙄 ### 4/5 — An invaluable tool for actors *2024-10-08* I’ve been using this since launch and as a professional actor I’ve run countless scripts through this. The line sets and ability to black out your lines are the best learning and rehearsal tools available. I was getting worried that this app had been abandoned as I hadn’t seen an update in many years and I was starting to see more quirks in it so I had started looking at alternatives. I am glad to see a recent update now. One thing Scriptation has that has been a game changer is the ability to select a character and it automatically highlights all those lines. A major time saver I’d love to see in Rehearsal. I also have used the “line sets” feature to be my own reader for auditions though ColdRead has taken that over for me now. As a long time fan who has constantly recommended this app to fellow actors, I hope it continues to develop and improve. It was definitely the first of its kind and extremely useful and innovative. ### 2/5 — Glitchy *2024-05-17, version 3.7* I’ve had the app for years and it’s been fine but lately I’ve been experiencing a lot of error messages and glitches… it’s becoming annoying to use. ### 3/5 — RUBBISH *2023-09-19* Don’t buy this …. It’s a load of rubbish . Can’t upload files either by google drive or emailing . SCAM ### 3/5 — p *2023-03-04* CONS: 1. the record button is either not big enough or not sensitive enough, there have been many times that i believe i have pressed it and i havent been recording. 2. you can't use external microphones with this app. 3. the synchronization is BAD. It takes forever for your scripts and scenes to be synchronized. Oftentimes I will have to redownload a script I already have on a device for the original script to show up on that device, and then i have to delete the second copy i downloaded to get the first. 4. when you make a note, this box appears on the script in a weird place, a place that wasnt where you put the cursor, oftentimes blocking the dialogue. 5. IT IS A RIP OFF. TOTALLY OVERPRICED. 6. The eraser feature has too wide a cursor or area that it erases. Inevitable you end up erasing more than youd like when you use it. IT SHOULD HAVE DIFFERENT SIZE CURSORS TO CHOOSE FROM. 7. Lasat time this was updated was 2 years ago!?!?!? PROS: 1. lots of highlighting and pen colours to choose from. 2. the scrolling screen while you are listening to a scene works. 3. i do like the feature being able to block off highlighted lines with black. Overall this needs a lot of work and is way overpriced. ### 4/5 — Good app but getting buggy *2023-02-22* Always getting an ‘error start recording’ message now when I try to record new lines. This is a useful app but can’t tell if anyone’s home here anymore. The scan to PDF function is useless and so is the ‘find a reader’ section which they should just delete. ### 2/5 — Was great, now bugged *2022-09-04* This was a great app, but recently it will not connect to the internet. So $20 simply to go in circles between “your account is already activated” and “your account is not activated” without even a troubleshooting guide. Such. A. Scam. ### 1/5 — Worst app worst service *2025-02-23* After being forced to keep this trash app due to buying by mistake, which is my own fault, but i probably tried to get a refund within 20 minutes of realizing i didn’t want this and didn’t know i actually paid for it, i tried to use it. The videos explain some stuff but still doesnt work the way it says it will. I dislike the interface. Its not user friendly and you can get much better apps than this for next to nothing linelearner is the one i actually use, its also strange and kinda hard to use but it works well once you get it. Anyway, talked through email to someone who works there who says he is an actor and has 120k satisfied custies. And still can’t give me a refund in anyway. Also he decided to give me advice on how to write emails and how i should talk to ppl. You run a business, you should be worried about business not me. Maybe if you actually read the emails you would have already saw that i didn’t want the app and tried several times to get the refund. I couldn’t refund it, tried it out openminded and still hate it. Just give me a refund already. Or let me give it to someone else who actually wants it. Now there’s apparently an update that has maybe worked maybe not? It keeps asking me to update again and again. Meanwhile it just deleted all my recorded scenes for the last several weeks including the one I needed to work on for today. I don’t really have time to record the scene again nor do I have time to go back and forth emailing support. It’s really unfortunate how much hassle this app has been over the years. Good concept. It’ll completely crash as you scroll down a page. Don’t waste your money ### 1/5 — Used to work great *2022-09-29* I used to love this app, but it has gotten continuously more glitchy, to the point where I have finally given up on its usability. My most recent problem is that the scrolling feature that used to work so well doesn’t line up anymore with the lines I’m working on. Previous issues I’ve encountered (and learned to live with): the app will sometimes freeze while I’m recording lines, leaving either a pregnant, unwanted pause, or a complete app crash halfway through a long recording session. If something happens on my phone midway through a recording (a phone call or text), the app would crash and I’d have to start over. Airplane mode is your friend here. The app for some reason will not connect to my car’s Bluetooth or USB. It worked fine in my previous vehicle, but it’s not universal. In short, this was a great app 5 years ago. Unfortunately, it isn’t maintained well enough to keep up with technology changes. I’ve had no problems using it because the video and text instructions make it easy. Plus, the setup helps me learn my part as well. We’ve only had four rehearsals and I’m almost off book for Act 1, Scene 1 which has lots of dialog and movement. By the way, I’m in my early 70’s and had concerns that I’d have difficulty memorizing. I can’t remember the last time I prepped a scene or an episode without it. Easy to use, and super intuitive. Highly recommend. ### 5/5 — I love this app *2022-09-07* Okay so first of all I want to say that the ratings of this app seems to be low… and I can’t figure out why. The app works perfectly, you just have to be a little patient, sometimes it can take up to a day for your scripts to appear, but I have never had a script not appear. You can literally share you scripts to the app itself on iPhone (so that gets rid of the email option, but that’s handy incase the servers go down) You can record, edit, highlight your lines. Cover your lines. Listen back to your lines Even draw on your script. I saw in a previous review that you can do video ?? That’s one I’m yet to see or work out how to do it. This app does exactly what what you need it to do, store your script! Anything else is extra or a bonus. Aaaaaaand. No need for paper (although admittedly there is something nice about having a paper script) And best of all… no subscription! Although I probably wouldn’t say no to that providing its cheap. 5 stars from me Although it has been a year since the last update and more than likely could probably do with one considering apple have been hammering out their updates lately. I had no idea I would use it as often as I do. I have always been “old school” by using paper and highlighter … and sneaking a peek while I’m driving! The Rehearsal Pro is a game changer. Over the years, I have walked hundreds of miles with my earbuds in listening to lines and responding aloud. People just think I’m talking on the phone! I also use it in the car on long drives or just around town. David‘s videos on how to set up the app are very useful. The turnaround time for the app to receive my script and it be available for rehearsal is phenomenal. It has never disappointed. I recommend this app to everyone in the industry!! ### 5/5 — An incredible tool! *2022-05-07* I believe I have been using this tool for AT LEAST 10 YEARS!
