Attempts to be intimate with the player and create this big story, but missed the mark on what made Reigns special. Reigns: Her Majesty is a fluffed slapstick with choices that never seem to feel neutral. From the beginning it feels as though you are forced to pick a side and any choice against what has already been given as the main story line feels immoral. ### 3/5 — Yikes.. *2023-12-31, version 1.07* When I first got Reigns (the original game) I loved playing it and thought it was so much simple fun. I heard of Reigns: Her Majesty and thought it would be just as good as the first, unfortunately not. All the choices seem like they randomly change your stats, they’re so drastic and random it just seems completely pointless reading the card and trying to think about the positive and negative consequences because the stats will just be crazy. I always have, and I liked to spend time playing on the original, so I was ecstatic when I learned there was a Queen version! Needless to say, this game met expectation. It’s pretty accurate when it comes to politics on the side of the queen, having to settle agreements and earn favor instead of bargaining and starting wars, like in the 1st game. As soon as I learned of the all mother, I immediately became obsessed! The consequences of your actions are mostly unpredictable and are frequently uniformly beneficial or harmful, whereas in the original, decisions are almost always tradeoffs between the different factions. Additionally, the writing is often amateurish in both the prompts and the queen’s responses, which resemble those of a stereotyped teenage girl rather than royalty. When I looked it up, it turns out that Reigns: Her Majesty was actually written by Leigh Alexander, a notorious radical feminist with no previous experience working on video games. Beyond the quality of the writing, this also shows up in the bias of the decisions. Whereas the church was just one of four factions in the original game, with both positive and negative aspects, here they are uniformly portrayed in a negative light and oppose decisions supported by all the other factions, including decisions they should by all reason support. ### 1/5 — Не понравилась *2022-11-28, version 1.07* Королевы мрут как мухи, кружочки вверху одного цвета и не понятно куда пойдет шкала вверх или вниз, какие то придурковатые боты с придурковатыми запросами. I paid for it and played all the way through to the end... only to discover that the game uses the questions to build a psychometric profile of the user, which is then sold to advertisers. It is difficult to find out whether this claim is real or a joke, but early versions of the game had lots of complaints of the game using unusual amounts of upload data, so I’m inclined to assume it’s real. The story behind its pretty cool, but for BOTH of these games, I personally feel as if it’s not worth the price.. even with the bundle. $1 maybe... The lives of the queens are too easy to kill, which is the point, but is executed in such a poor way that the story becomes .. bad. Therefore making it an average game all over.
