### 3/5 — Good game until level 20

*2025-12-03, version 1.03*

This is a very interesting game. Great graphics, too. Because of the dice there is, of course, luck involved. But you can minimize the luck factor by careful play.

Then you reach almost impossible level 20, and everything changes. There is no margin for error. If you don’t get all the right rolls, you fail. And you will fail over and over, unless you buy dice boosts.

My advice: If you like dice games, get this one. It’s different, and it’s clever. Be happy with levels 1 through 19. They’re fun, and the game allows you to go back and replay any previous level you want.

It’s just a shame that level 20 will block you from going any further unless you are very lucky or spend money.

### 4/5 — Very Fun

*2024-02-14, version 1.03*

It’s a fun game. Obviously, it’s a game of chance but they still did a great job of making the game more challenging as you progress. My only complaint is that the final level is so challenging that the odds of rolling what you need are almost impossible. I must have played it more than 50 times, trying different strategies, dice, etc. and never beat it. I rarely even got close. I eventually got bored and quit trying. Still, the game is fun enough I am deleting and reinstalling it so I can play from the beginning again. Hint hint developers - a reset game option or multiple profiles would be nice.

### 3/5 — Needs one very simple UX improvement

*2021-09-08, version 1.03*

An extremely simple UX improvement is desperately needed. When dragging dice to apply to monster, the game should highlight which monster the dice will be applied to once you lift your finger.

### 4/5 — Fun but confusing

*2018-03-02, version 1.03*

Although this game is quite fun, I do find some of it confusing. For example, what is the purpose of collecting the coins? They don’t show anywhere in the game, you can’t use them to buy bonuses or defeat the monsters so why do it?

### 4/5 — Funny Game!

*2016-03-04, version 1.03*

In this dice throwing game the object is to defeat all the funny looking monsters while listening too some funky music! I gotta say it does add some excitement when playing roll the dice.

### 4/5 — interesting game

*2016-02-11, version 1.03*

The game is unique in it's own way but also all the in app purchases are quite annoying but you might find yourself needing

### 4/5 — Best dice app

*2016-02-10, version 1.03*

This game is so fun, my kid loves it so much. The interface is really nice with all the colours. It is easy to play too and it's addicting. The game is simple and children will love it.

*2016-02-10, version 1.03*

*2016-02-10, version 1.03*

it really need a better tutorial

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nothing but a money grab

*2021-05-02, version 1.03*

Now I remember why I deleted it. Reloaded it and played for a few days just to be reminded how manipulative the “game” is. Put yourself in a position where you just need anything over a three with four rolls left? Watch the ones and twos suddenly show up. Nothing but a money grab of the worst kind.

### 1/5 — Screw this paywall game design

*2018-08-27, version 1.03*

Still... pay for boosters. Cant EARN THEM. So sick of it. Make it a premium game. Fun for a few levels then, pay for "boosts" or lose lose lose.

### 1/5 — Spreco di spazio

*2016-08-04, version 1.03*

Uno sputo sullo schermo era più utile

### 1/5 — Crashes iPad Air iOS 7

*2016-04-04, version 1.03*

iPad Air iOs 7. On "Play" crashes. :(

### 1/5 — Fun is ruined by IAP

*2015-11-14, version 1.01*

Same developer strategy as other IAP games like Peggle Blast. Start the player off easy, get them addicted, then ramp up the difficulty a lot and hope they buy IAPs to avoid losing. I'm tired of this model. I will play this until I get sick of the game pretending like skill matters, while in reality power ups are the only real way to beat it.

### 1/5 — W2P- Wait to play, after I've paid?

*2015-10-27, version 1.01*

This would be a great title, with some interesting dice play based on increasingly difficult thresholds to meet, but the developer has decided to implement an egregiously bad pay model that prevents me from actually playing the game, even after I've already paid $2 into it.

After playing a few levels, I was happy enough with the gameplay to gladly pay the $2 to remove the occasional ad breaks. Okay fine... I don't expect games to be free, and $2 seemed about right for a light dice game of this type, and comparable with other Reiner Knizia dice games, which I've enjoyed. Even $3-4 would be fine considering the quality of the presentation, which is very nice.

But then, you discover that there is another wall in the game regarding "lives," of which you only have so many that you can lose from level failures before the game will make you wait before you can play it again (or pay another $1 each time to refill those lives, which can be depleted very quickly - I'm looking at you, Winter level 37).

So now, because it would be absurd for this to end up being a $20+ game (I've already had to wait 10+ times for that level 37 to refill my lives), I refuse to pay anything more for this and thus must wait each time to play a game that I've already paid for. How absurd is it to create a game that inspires people to want to continue to play it, and then deny them that opportunity?!

There are also offers for people to buy certain power up abilities... That's fine. I still won't do it, but I can appreciate that some might want to opt for that, and in that case, it is their choice and not going to prevent them from actually playing. If the lives thing would be tied to a particular level, so you could keep playing earlier levels to try to build yourself up, that would be acceptable. But that's not the case... You are simply shut out from playing, period.

Change that model and this would likely be a 5 star app for me.

### 1/5 — Sehr schön gemacht

*2015-10-25, version 1.01*

Ein Brettspiel, welches auf In-Apps basiert um weiterzukommen, sollte nicht Dice Monsters sondern Money Monster heißen.

Da hilft auch die schöne Aufmachung des Spiels und der Taktik/Glücksfaktor.

### 2/5 — Good game until level 20

*2022-08-26, version 1.03*

### 2/5 — Too luck-based in later levels

*2021-08-24, version 1.03*

Early on bad rolls can be mitigated by good tactics, but later bad rolls kill any successes you have built with no recourse. There are items for mitigation, but they are insufficient to balance out bad luck. You can buy your way out of some problems, but that is not really playing a game, now is it?

### 2/5 — Eigentlich ein nettes Würfelspiel

*2017-03-05, version 1.03*

Schade. Ich hab es wieder gelöscht.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Ледяной кубик

*2021-04-12, version 1.03*

Отличная игра. Наконец-то прошёл все 100 уровней, но остался вопрос - как открыть ледяной кубик и за что дают скрытое достижение ?

### 5/5 — Fun again and again

*2019-03-02, version 1.03*

Love this game,easy to learn.

### 5/5 — great!

*2017-05-01, version 1.03*

really cool!

### 5/5 — Good Blend of Strategy & Luck

*2016-08-08, version 1.03*

Create poker-style combinations of 5 dice (three of a kind, full house, straight, highest sum, lowest sum, etc.) by rolling 2 dice and placing them into 1 of 3 groups. Beat the combinations held by different kinds of monsters to win each level. Powerups can modify your dice, and monster abilities can make placing your dice more difficult. There's luck, but players who place their dice strategically will be rewarded. The game builds on ideas developed by designer Reiner Knizia in board games like Battle Line (also an iOS app), Schotten Totten, Los Banditos, and Head-to-Head Poker. The game is good at building an entertaining level of tension as the difficulty increases. The tutorial could use some improvement to clarify the rules.

*2016-03-01, version 1.03*

First time I've seen a game where you use dices to beat a monster! It's a really nice concept and enjoyable to play! Also the artwork in this game is amazing and pleasing to look at. Overall I loved this game and would recommend it to those who wants try something new.

### 5/5 — Thanks

*2016-02-22, version 1.03*

It is very good amusing game, you can be addicted to it. You may take few minutes to understand how to play this game, I advise you to follow instructions and be patient because it has little slow explanation. Thanks for this new kind of games, I enjoyed it a lot.

### 5/5 — Funny

*2016-02-11, version 1.03*

Really interesting game to play! Once my girl understands the rules, it's so addictive and killed lots of her leisure time even she was a little bit scared of these dice monsters and music. Cool interface and well-designed monsters images! Like it!
