## What is Relic Flow?

Relic Flow is a generator of Lo-Fi rhythms, noise patterns and drum loops based on unique synthesis algorithms from NightRadio.
More than 4 billion samples from the depths of the Mathematical Universe!

Features:
 * search for new sounds with three buttons: next random set, edit code, previous set; each set of 12 sounds corresponds to a code of 8 characters;
 * three types of keyboards for live performing: on-screen buttons, PC keyboard, MIDI input;
 * several processing parameters + control via MIDI;
 * real-time audio recording to WAV (32-bit);
 * export to: WAV (one file or a set), SunVox (samples + effects in one file), text clipboard;
 * the LCK button freezes individual samples - they will not change during the search for new sets;
 * iOS Audio Unit Extension (AUv3).

Double clicking on a parameter opens a window for setting the exact value.

If you enable the Hold option, the notes will play endlessly, without reacting to key release (noteOff) events; turning the note on again works like turning it off; there are two ways to enable this option:
  1) using the Hold parameter in the "MIDI Mapping" window;
  2) by pressing the HOLD button, which appears in place of LCK while playing the musical keyboard: press HOLD, release the desired notes - then the released notes will continue to play.

I’m always curious to see what Zolotov might release next as he produces such creative and inspiring music tools! Naturally, I’ve been really enjoying using ‘Relic Waves’ and ‘Fractal Bits’ (which are really innovative and so much fun to explore in their diverse sonic potential and creative immediacy)! So naturally I was smitten by the release of ‘Relic Flow’ which takes these innovative fractal based generative concepts into the rhythmic domain (…and I love drums, percussion & rhythm)!

The diverse range of original electronic pulses, grain engine like textures, transient colours and percussive nuances you can tease out of RF are simply incredible! Further, I love the way it produces so much rhythmic variation (swings, shuffles, slides, hops, skips and jumps etc) into the beat making process as it doesn’t just generate gorgeous sounds but innovative arrangements too! The brilliant pad/grid system also encourages you to perform and play creatively with sounds (as is the case with all three inspiring generative tools)! Very cool!

I bought it without even opening the app’s page, that’s how good his other apps are. I use relic waves like it’s going out of style and have now exported thousands of samples from it for use in various gear and software. It’s my sound design secret weapon. If it only had the noise sounds it would be worth using but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. And all his apps compliment his tracker so well, which by the way if youre into sampling then you owe it to yourself to at least try SunVox… your sampler patches are only limited by your imagination. It truly competes with the best of them, you have so much control it’s unreal. And it’s packaged in a really nice format in my opinion, you can mix synthesis with it if you want and it all wraps neatly into a file that’s as easy to distribute as anything else. I really wish he’d make it into a VST because I think it could bring him $$$, I think people would use it as an instrument if they’re not into trackers, it would be a very flexible instrument. I’m not sure if I’d use it as a VST since I’d prob just open the tracker but I know a lot of people would. Actually I can see myself using it in buttwig. Anyway I’ve avoided talking about this app for a reason. It’s sick, it’s going to spit out some great sounds, end of story. Get it. Get Relic Waves, get Fractal Bits and most importantly get Virtual ANS that program doesn’t get the attention it deserves, it’s workflow and interface are too dang good and it produces results that are sonically interesting, don’t sleep on it if you think doing sound design with paint sounds fun, and it provides tools to do a variety of things it’s not just chirpy stuff, don’t be afraid to use noise and making brushes out of selections is a pro move. Give it 3 hours a week and in a month you’ll be making way different stuff than you did on your first day with all the brushes you collected up. take care, be creative.

I don’t know how someone could call this trash - it has been hours of fun for me since I downloaded it. Alone or in concert with the apps from Alexander you can make some really fun stuff here.
