Push notifications would be great, and I see they'll be included in the full version, but perhaps email notification would also be good. This means that it's not quite so immediate as Push, but it still reminds you of the birthday. ### 4/5 — Easy and works *2010-06-02* Just make sure you have birthdays in the correct field in contacts and it works great I would like to see a bubble appear on the icon showing this weeks number of birthdays. Then it would be the best birthday app ### 4/5 — Does the job *2009-05-07* Having imported contact birthdays from facebook using another app, Birthminder is very useful. It provides offline access to birthdays (that I would normally have to get from facebook) and saves me from having birthdays of less important contacts taking up my calendar space. Birthminder also allows me to catch any important birthdays that I had missed so that I can add them to my calendar. Plus it always looks good when you remember someone's birthday and Birthminder's made that much easier. Only criticism is that the app lists how old the contact is now, rather than how old they will be on their birthday, which would be more obvious. Would also be nice to have contact anniversaries added too but given that it's free, I'd say Birthminder is still a 4* app. Update: I now use fbCal to create a calendar of Facebook birthdays on Google Mail, that syncs with my iPhone's calendar. Birthminder is still much easier to setup and only shows birthdays of your most important contacts (i.e. only those on your iPhone, not all your Facebook ones). ### 2/5 — One flaw *2009-05-04* In order to get notification app has to open then closed. Once this is done it will show the notification on the icon. If this can be fixed it would be great. Would really be great if it could pull in other dates from the contacts too - like anniversaries and such. Pity no alerts - but what about the possibility of a number on the icon (like you have on other app icons-missed calls...etc) which indicates # events within the next x(configurable) days? What would make it even better is if there were a push feature that would show you on the icon that someone's birthday is today. It only does it after you check the app. Or if it could give you an option to have the program send you a text or email of who's birthday is today (where you may also select the time of day you want to be notified).
