### 2/5 — it's ok

*2024-06-08*

It was ok but there was only 1 scene and by looking by the other reviews and ratings it's not that good. If you are going to get the app I would not really recommend it because there is lots of other good games better than this one because I would rate this 2 stars out of 5.

### 2/5 — Pretty awful

*2023-09-21*

After seeing a panel with the creators of this “experience“ at an industry event, I was really looking forward to watching this with my kids. I had been wondering why I hadn’t heard anything about it, as we are total Disney+ junkies, but I wonder no more. It’s really poorly executed. It’s too short. The dialogue is insufferable. The pint-size star— a non-actress and apparently the neighbor of the executive producer— can’t act and is generally annoying to watch. It doesn’t even look cinematic in any way. It was shot on a volume and it shows… and not in a good way. The LD & DP must both have also been the producer’s neighbors because there’s nothing at all believable about the environment.

All of this wouldn’t matter, though, if the AR bit was engaging in any way— this being a glorified tech demo and all— but it’s just not. For about 30 seconds, a waterfall comes out of your TV and empties into a pond, which at various times looked like it was on my floor or my ottoman depending on whether I stood up or not. This effect wasn’t particularly beautiful, it wasn’t interactive and it was incredibly, frustratingly brief. I feel like this film, and the AR gimmick within, were originally intended to be longer and the producers slashed it to bits after losing faith in the production team. I think that was probably a good decision. I mean… This thing has Brie Larson in it! How do you make Brie Larson unlikable? I’ll tell you how — you give her no direction, that’s how. What a waste. 🤦🏻‍♂️

### 3/5 — Underwhelming

*2022-09-23*

I’m hoping as time goes on, this will get even better. I was disappointed to see it was only one scene. I did take someone’s advice and “walk around” which did make it a better experience. Good concept, but definitely needs more.

### 2/5 — 30 second experience

*2022-09-19*

This video as well as the app is extremely enigmatic. what they don’t tell you is that the experience does not last the whole of the eight minute short, it’s just for one 30 second scene. Therefore you’ll spend more time downloading and installing this app then actually watching the AR animation it creates.

### 4/5 — Only one scene

*2022-09-18*

I would honestly give it 3-4 stars but there aren’t intervals that could make it so. Here’s my reasoning for this rating.
One. I’m 16, and it didn’t accept that age even though the age rating is 4+. Had to delete it and re-download it to re-enter my age to something else. The app just said something like “you aren’t the right age for this experience” and did nothing else. There was no back button and no way to refresh the app without it remembering I was 16. I don’t understand why they would cut off the children audience by making that age restriction.
Two. There’s only one scene. It had so much potential to have multiple scenes, like at least two or three based on the film. I get that it would take time, but the fact that it was one scene made it slightly underwhelming. Maybe there was something I missed besides the lake? I don’t think there was any other scene and if there was I missed it.
It was pretty cool though. The tree and the light popping out, the waterfall pouring over the laundry in front of my tv, and more. I would love to see more though, I’m just upset there wasn’t more.
No complaints about the quality of the art. That was spectacular in my opinion. Great job.

### 3/5 — Not worth the download

*2022-09-15*

Just watch the short the AR experience is pretty basic and is only for one scene of the short. The short itself is alright though.

### 4/5 — The future is here.

*2022-09-14*

The film was okay but the AR scene looked great. It seemed more like a simple story contrived for the sake of showing off Augmented Reality. I hope to see better AR films in the future.

Imagine the possibilities with AR technology. For example, you go to Disneyland with either your smartphone or AR glasses and see x-wing fighters fly by at Galaxy’s Edge. Or while waiting in line, ghosts coming out of the walls at Haunted Mansion ride. Perhaps Mickey can be your virtual guide and lead you to great places to eat or show you the quickest way to a particular ride. These are exciting times.

### 3/5 — Pretty Simple yet Worked in the Dark

*2022-09-13*

AR worked just fine for me on an iPhone SE 2nd Gen. The experience was a little bland/unimaginative (for an imagination experience). But I just see it as Disney testing interest in this sort of thing and figuring out how it would work. It does (even worked for me in a completely dark room as it anchors to the bright TV). I hope they do more with it than a simple pond with untextured dolphin doodles and a couple trees. Say like a Star Wars action scene with spaceships coming out of the screen? 🤩 They could even take past movies and release new AR experiences for them. Now THAT would definitely increase the draw for a Disney+ subscription.

### 4/5 — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

*2022-09-10*

Really cool app, glitched a little. I do wish that you could use it for more stuff, instead of it being a one minute use, but overall very happy.

### 4/5 — Awesome experience!

*2022-09-10, version 1.0*

Such an awesome experience my family loved it, specially my kid! Can’t wait for more content … if there is more 😏

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Change age

*2024-02-15, version 1.0.6*

I need to change my age on the game

### 1/5 — Does not function properly

*2022-10-03, version 1.0.2*

If you read the first one star review you probably know what I’m going through Disney. Please fix this

### 1/5 — Not worth the 8 minutes it takes to watch

*2022-09-18, version 1.0.2*

The short is lame and this “ar” app is even more lame.

### 1/5 — Didn’t work

*2022-09-16, version 1.0.2*

Tried multiple times to get it to work and nothing ever happened at the end of the countdown when it got to the target words.

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2022-09-12, version 1.0*

Could not get it to work. Scan was good, tried multiple times, did nothing.

### 1/5 — Apparently adults only

*2022-09-11, version 1.0*

When the app opens it asks for an age. I entered 6 for my daughter and it says she’s not old enough. The app itself says ages 4+!

### 1/5 — That was 10 minutes I will never get back

*2022-09-10*

Okay what was the point for 1 downloading an app. 2 having to be 18+ for it to work. And 3 for the experience to only last 30 seconds!!! Come on Disney do better. If the experience was 8 minutes long like the video on Disney plus then I would give 5 stars. A serious waste of time.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2022-09-10, version 1.0*

I was genuinely disappointed when there was only one scene.

### 1/5 — Poorly executed “metaverse” test

*2022-09-10, version 1.0*

For having its own dedicated app, the AR experience is underwhelming and accompanies an even more mediocre short. It’s clear that the budget for this project were paper thin and isn’t an encouraging sign for Disney’s metaverse prospects.

### 1/5 — Not worth the download

*2022-09-10, version 1.0*

I love that my wife’s first thought was “great now Disney knows what our living room looks like” lol

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Too cool - Gave me chills

*2022-09-22*

I no longer love Disney like I used to - Their recent “attempts”(?) at bringing us more together is only resulting in further division.

That said, this was still so cool that it gave me chills.

Can’t believe that this app only has 3.6 stars at present. While I will admit - in hindsight - that it was a bit weird to have to download an app that was only used for one scene in the film; it’s worth remembering that said film is also only eight minutes long.

### 5/5 — Really lovely interactive content

*2022-09-20*

The app is lightweight, easy to use and the experience is beautiful!

The future is looking magical.

### 5/5 — Thanks Disney

*2022-09-20*

Thanks for continue made this kind of short films. Im male 40 years old and was incredible the story i got to confess i was emotional.
And the 3d experience was grate thanks again.

### 5/5 — Why only I phones

*2022-09-18*

I know a lot of kids and families without IPhones

### 5/5 — Proof of concept

*2022-09-15*

This is really cool PoC. Makes me wonder if things like apple glasses will be able to do this kind of thing in the future.

### 5/5 — Stand up and walk!!!!!

*2022-09-14*

I think too many people are just looking at the screen through their phones while sitting on their couch. stand up and walk into the AR. that’s what makes This app so freaking awesome. you can literally even if only for a part of it walk into the film.

### 5/5 — Magical ✨

*2022-09-14, version 1.0*

My whole family thought it was fun, cute, and magical! Good experience for all age’s

### 5/5 — i didn’t use the app

*2022-09-12*

This was such a cute short film. I’m impatient so i didn’t use this app but i highly recommend watching it anyways. I wouldn’t waste much time with the app part. It was heartwarming. Very pleased.

### 5/5 — Want MORE!

*2022-09-12*

This is awesome! What a great experience. Used my iPad for a better experience than a phone. Really cool how you could move the view to see the lake beneath you and tree growing beside you. Please do more!!!

### 5/5 — Cute

*2022-09-11, version 1.0*

Only lasts a moment but it’s pretty cool
