We were able to connect our Roku TV via the hardline (ethernet cable) and then use this app to control it. I hit my app and my devices pair automatically (unless I have more than one tv on). Fortunately, you can change the name of your device to deal with that issue. If you are planning on getting a new phone anytime soon i don’t recommend purchasing the app before because it will not transfer over. But thanks to my Apple Watch I can’t lose my phone. So the fact that I can put my TV remote on my phone reinsurers me that I will always have my TV remote. You can change the volume and control the tv even if your in a different room! The only thing I don’t like is that after you press the “OK” button 1-3 times there’s an ad every single time. There is only one thing about the roku remote I can’t do from my phone is The roku remote cannot turn my TV on from the off position. Once I turn my tv on, I can then use the roku remote from my phone. Sometimes just closing the app will work, but other times it’s just stuck like that. I would love it if this bug was fixed. I really don’t mind an ad here and there, but on this Ap, it totally interferes with the functionality of the Ap. Every time I hit a button - could be play, pause, rewind, forward - I get two very loud and noisy ad for some random game Ap or whatever, I couldn’t really say, because I’m busy trying to find a way to X out of it - finally X out, and forgot what I was trying to do. It’s just Super Annoying, and there are other Roku Aps that don’t do that. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever used ANY AP - EVER that popped up ads EVERY TIME you touch a key. And I, too have never left a review - ever, but this one deserved my time and effort. ### 5/5 — I LOVE ROKU *2021-08-05, version 1.5.1* I’ve been a Roku owner for what seems like 4 years now - possibly longer (Roku models 2 and 3). My family embraced it pretty quickly. Over the years I’ve helped several people “cut the cord” by asking key questions beforehand & ultimately transitioning to the Roku best suited their needs, although the process can be initially challenging for senior citizens. Once they’re shown the low cost channel options that resemble what they’re used to, along with the free alternative channels - they usually fall in love with it👍🏾 I’ve also helped sell a few streaming devices & TVs directly in different stores as I was more familiar than the employee on hand LoL. I recently added a Roku Express and 2 Roku TVs to my household along with a pair of Roku speakers❤️👍🏾. I’m super late, but finally decided to experiment with Roku Media Player, so learning the ‘ins and outs’ of it will be my task for 2020. I love the fact I visit so many countries and engage with so many folks. The remote is easy and functional better than the remote that comes with your device. Sometimes my wifi does not like communicating with remote on my iPhone but when it ""works"" POWERFUL. I just added this app to my iPad, and started listening to my playlist, powerful when you download music to the cloud and play from your iTunes account. I have to admit it didn't take long for us to break the original remote so we opened up the Roku app and once the Roku in the television was in sync I realized that there is no real need for the remote or any remote for that matter. The ability to instantly connect to my AirPods is a definite plus. The only tic this app has is that it may drop your AirPod connection from time to time. This is totally forgivable based on how fluidly this app works (faster & better than my actual remote...whenever I can find it). I live in the country, don’t have cable and have weak WiFi so wasn’t sure if Roku TV would work. It’s been fantastic. It’s impossibly easy to set up, a really intelligently designed system. Bringing in my streaming services, etc., was so easy. Then I bought their wireless speakers, not because the sound was bad but I knew it could be clearer and brighter. The speaker setup was a seamless too. And I appreciated the eco-friendly packaging — no plastic, all recyclable, great sound. I’m one happy customer. I've only had this TV for about 2 1/2 weeks, but I've had nothing but issues with the remote. It works sporadically, when it wants to. At first I thought it might be faulty batteries, so I replaced them with brand new ones. Same issue. Frustrating thing is, there's only 1 button on the bottom left corner of the TV itself, so when the remote goes out, it's super difficult to operate it. This app is a lifesaver!! My daughter and nieces lose our remotes ALL THE TIME! So it’s great to be able to have the remote on our phones. Now, back to the daughter and the nieces, ROKU please read this, there should be a tiny mirrored screen on the app so parents can see what’s happening on our kids TVs. We are smokers and we smoke outside. With the lost remotes, we will have to put out our fresh cigarette to go change the TV. I downloaded the Pureflix app but Closed Captioning doesn’t work on this particular smarttv. So many Roku devices to chose from. After researching each device while in the store I opt’d to buy the Roku Ultra since I now have a 4K tv. I simply love. I have HBO SHOWTIME and CINEMAX thru my satellite provider. I downloaded and stream several channels thru my Roku and I love it. It is so convenient when you want to watch a movie or series without have to record or download it. Just watch when I want. It does everything I need it to without any issues. The keyboard feature is nice! I also like the "headphones" feature so I can watch my show without bugging the person beside me or I can take my phone to another room and still hear what's going on.
