Grundfunktionen wie Kanalwahl, Trackpad oder App-Zugriff sind nicht frei verfügbar, sondern über mehrere kostenpflichtige Pakete gestaffelt freigeschaltet. Wer die volle Funktionalität will, zahlt am Ende fast 80 € für das “Full Premium Pack” – für eine reine Fernbedienungs-App ein stattlicher Betrag. Besonders unverständlich ist das, weil die kostenlose Version zusätzlich Werbung enthält. Man würde erwarten, dass man sich mit dem Hinnehmen von Werbung wenigstens die grundlegendsten Funktionen wie Lautstärke oder Sender wechseln “verdient” – stattdessen bleibt selbst das kostenpflichtig. So bekommt man in der Basisversion letztlich nur eine Werbefläche für die Kaufversion, ohne selbst etwas Sinnvolles damit anfangen zu können. Zur Einordnung: Es handelt sich hier nicht um die offizielle LG-App, sondern um eine Dritthersteller-App (Quanticapps Ltd), was das gestaffelte Bezahlmodell zumindest teilweise erklärt. Trotzdem bleibt die Kritik berechtigt: Eine kostenlose Version, die im Grunde nur zeigt, was möglich wäre, aber keine der zentralen Steuerfunktionen freigibt, ist wenig mehr als eine Werbefläche für die Kaufversion.
