However, this app is not optimized at all for the Magic Keyboard. You need to manually enable keyboard input using the on screen mouse (what?) and if the on-screen mouse happens to be in the way of what you want to click on (which includes the Apple Menu and numerous close/minimize/fullscreen buttons on macOS windows) you have to manually move it out of the way, or use IT to click what it’s blocking. I figured after years of working on TightVNC that the UX would be just a little bit more refined than what was acceptable back in the day. Apparently not. ### 2/5 — Needs a lot of work. *2024-08-10, version 3.5.1* Connects fine but the HUGE mouse on the screen makes it unusable. I know it’s possible to turn it off but the options for how to move the curser are non existent. I want to throw the curser around the screen and tap anywhere to simulate a mouse click. I do not want to treat the virtual screen like a touch screen. I can’t actually click anything accurately with how it’s set up currently with no options. Please update this program with options. ### 4/5 — Great app dev - just missing a few features *2023-06-28, version 3.5.1* If I’m connected to a windows server and I lock the screen on the app. I am unable to use keyboard or mouse to log back in, other than that great app to vnc via tightvnc ### 2/5 — Scaling *2023-02-04, version 3.5.1* This almost works. The screen looks good; it has a mostly usable virtual keyboard, and you can navigate a “Start Menu” by touching the screen. But as others have said, there is no scaling control. The app seems hard coded to magnify a small peephole from the desktop to fill the iPad or iPhone screen. I tried reducing my actual desktop resolution but never got it small enough. 1440 x 900 x desktop didn’t fit on the 2160 x 1600 iPad screen. Looked like maybe 1200 x 800 would have fit. I played with encoding and image quality settings; no effect on the scaling. Also I couldn’t execute a right-click. The mouse pointer would go to a location I touched on the iPad screen. But when I then touched the right-click button on the mouse widget, the pointer would first jump to that place (the spot under the mouse widget) on the remote screen, and THEN execute the right-click. The client shortcomings turned out to be irrelevant in my particular situation. I had hoped to watch “Forged Alliance Forever” replays on the iPad screen. FAF ran but the refresh rate was about 3 seconds / frame. Probably a server limitation. So, Remote Ripple did allow me to learn my idea wouldn’t work, at zero cost. ### 3/5 — Can’t scale screen *2021-12-20, version 3.4.3* I’ve been using various VNC products for many years, and was excited to have a modern viewer for the iPad. This falls short. Good: it connects and works well. The mouse seems to work correctly with the touchpad keyboard I have on my iPad. Bad: there doesn’t seem to be any way to scale the screen, so I can only view a very small part of the computer screen I’m connected to. There is no way to edit the connection parameters other than deleting the connection and creating a new entry. ### 3/5 — Function ok but need a lot of polish *2020-09-24, version 3.1* 1. The screen will always stay top left, can't position in middle and can't resize, there will always be a small area on top right bothering me. 2. The emulated mouse is very easy to misclick. If you were trying to click an area below where the mouse was, it would be very inconvenient. I'd like if the mouse can be locked at one place, so I can navigate the curser using touch screen, and make click/scroll with the emulated mouse locked at one place. ### 3/5 — Mouse pointer not showing in app *2020-09-05, version 3.1* I have to guess where I’m clicking and don’t see any settings to display a pointer with the mouse tool. ### 1/5 — It don’t work outside the house. *2020-02-26, version 3.0.6* App only connects when my iPhone 5 is on the same WiFi network as the computer. It does not connect using LTE or 4G. That’s not what remote is supposed to be, just saying. Huge waste of money. I just wanted to VNC into my PC so I can play Idle Champions from the living room while watching TV. So I installed TightVNC and then failing to find a free VNC app, downloaded this one. I’ve been using tightvnc for a long, long time. It was used in the first feature film post production studio I worked at 15 years ago and I still use it at home to this day. I was pleased to see glavsoft had an iPhone app and I’ve been using this to remote into my media server. I found the user interface intuitive and easy to pick up. The software itself has run flawlessly so far. The only thing missing that I would use (not often though) is to copy and paste text from safari on my iPhone to the pc I’m controlling. It’s not a major thing though.
