I’m using 18.5…. It crashes when there’s a lot of motion from the remote side so it’s difficult to get stuff done on my Linux boxes. It’s a significant issue. If you do manage to connect, it crashes when you log off. My rating for it would be much higher but the devs don’t support the app anymore. Paid good money for it, too ### 1/5 — Keeps crashing when using ssh tunnel *2023-02-11* As the title says, i tried using VNC over SSH and every time i attempt to connect the app just crashes. ### 4/5 — Easy SSH tunneling *2023-02-06* Finally an app that makes it very easy to reach VNC servers through a ssh tunnel. Looked quite some time for an easy way to do so with my iOS devices, and finally found one. Two backdraws: Exiting from a server on my iPhone 13 does not exit but throws the app to the background. Not really a crash, but feels like one. On my iPad the behaviour is as it should be. And: The app design is a bit old school. I know the app is on the market for years. However I switched to an iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard and found a handful of issues. I was hoping to open a support ticket but it seems support hasn’t been available in the developers website since 2016. Not sure why as updates appear to be released for this app. Hoping someone will see this review and respond, not sure how else to make contact. ### 4/5 — OpenSSL 3 support? *2022-05-14* RemoterPro has done what I needed it to do in the past, but there seems to be some issues connecting to systems via SSH with keys on newer servers that have version 3 of OpenSSL. The key exchange fails. Other than that it has been working great for years. ### 1/5 — Does not support rep over ssh *2022-05-05* From the description I expected to be able to tunnel rdp over ssh. This does not work. If I could have got a refund that would have been fair enough. Since I can’t I’ll at least leave a review to warn others. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Lacks true Ubuntu 24 RDP support & VNC with MacOS is glitchy esp if you use extra monitor *2026-04-26* I set up all the settings very similar to how I did in aRDP Pro, an app that DOES support Ubuntu 24 RDP cross-platform. I got to the point where I was able to receive an Unknown Certificate from my server and I would hit “Yes” to trust the connection but instead of connecting I would just kept saying “Disconnected. ERRCONNECT_UNKNOWN Do you want to reconnect?” And just keep failing over and over with no explanation or logs to explain the error. Leading me to assume the developer has not kept up with compatibility & interoperability with Linux/Ubuntu unlike other apps. I also found VNC screen sharing to be very glitchy with MacOS especially with an extra monitor. My cursor did not line up with where my mouse was actually on the screen at all. Overall I really wanted to love this app but today I was just nothing but disappointed. I thought about getting the MacOS version but after my experience with the iOS/iPad version I think I am going to pass on the Mac version now. 😢 ### 1/5 — SSH connections to my Mac desktop not working *2025-12-01* While SSH connections to all kind of Unix machines work flawlessly and reliable, I can no longer connect to my MacOS Ventura desktop PC. This was working before but stopped all of a sudden around last October. Since then no update did restore this capability. Switching now to the competition… No support, don’t buy! ### 1/5 — Needs security update! Vulnerable - should not be used. *2025-04-21, version 6.2.1* While there has been a recent update, the underlying libraries are *old* and still vulnerable to the terrapin attack. Additionally FIDO key types need to be supported. This can all be done with a simple recompile as the OpenSSL, and libssh libraries have been updated for some time. ### 1/5 — Remote Desktop on windows works - but not this app *2025-01-05, version 6.2.0* This app Doesn't work to connect to an Ubuntu machine. Switching now to the competition… ### 1/5 — Vulnerable to Terrapin attack. *2024-01-05, version 6.1.5* This app is vulnerable to the Man in the Middle "Terrapin" attack. I have moved to Edovia’s Screen app which is not vulnerable. ### 1/5 — Frequent crashes *2023-07-04, version 6.1.4* I can’t seem to do much in this app without it crashing. Tried to connect to a VNC+SSH server? Crash. Connect to a server via SSH is ok but as soon as I disconnect from it, the app crashes again. There was a hot fix to roll back the cause of the crash but it doesn’t work, that was 9 months ago (as of March 2023), and there hasn’t been an update since. The only thing open is port 22 with passwords disabled. I needed a VNC client that could connect to my Mac server’s screen sharing over an ssh tunnel using a private key. Was up and running in 10 minutes. This app was able to access a Linux distro I was running where other remote software failed. I use it in conjunction with OpenVPN on iPad and iPhone. It takes a little while to figure out that after you enter text and commands you have to press the Enter key for them to be sent. After a bit of practice you will be very productive. To the developer(s). Please keep this backwards compatible with iOS 12 if possible.
