If you’ve lost your original remote, then, based on my experience, you can’t use this app, until you can authorize it to connect to the TV by approving it with the original remote. As long as the TV was on, I could open the app at anytime and control my TV. After the last update in February it no longer connects to my TV automatically. Every time you want to use the app, the TV will ask for it’s permission. You then have to get up and push the enter button on the TV. Again, it worked great for a year prior so I don’t suspect it has to do with settings on my TV. Now, over the past week, the app can no longer even locate my TV. I downloaded this app specifically for when my tv remote is misplaced (happens often in this house with kids) or not working and the app was working wonderfully but I don’t know what’s happened, maybe in the last update? It won’t let me connect without allowing it from the tv with the remote which I can’t find right now and that’s why I’m using the app. GRRRRRRR frustrating to say the least. I don’t even see a charge for it tbh. Pro is way better but you have to turn on the tv for it to detect it. Simple concept not the end of the world. If you want a remote go buy one or don’t lose yours lol. I like the app because I lose track of the original remote often. This is a better option than getting a $15+ remote because I’ll lose that one too.
