Isn’t good
App should be a one time purchase not a reoccurring subscription. There are other apps that can do this. Developer needs to reevaluate their app because it’s not worth a subscription.
Used to be free before Update
Well. I used to really like this app since it was actually free. And now I fell for automatic updates, and with the addition of removing still moments as well, it’s no longer free unless a watermark is added. I’m never updating my apps again after this. Back to Chopper.
Refreshing simple app
I used this app to trim half an hour of skateboard footage from a tripod down to about 3 minutes. I was shocked how easy it was to use and how well it worked. It is so refreshing to have such a simple, lightweight, locally run app that does exactly what you need and nothing more. No cloud, no AI, no ads up the wazoo. RemoveSilence video editor does exactly what is advertised and it does it much better than I expected. Easy to use, easy to configure and easy to manually override the clips you want if the settings can’t quite give you exactly what you want.
I would love to see an app by the same creator that does exactly the same thing except uses video motion amplitude instead of volume amplitude to determine clip points. It could even just be a simple check box in the current app and seems easy to implement. So instead of using volume thresholds, it would be pixel change thresholds. For my use-case of skating in a skatepark with other people present it would have worked better than relying on sound, but this app still worked surprisingly perfectly since the skatepark was relatively empty.

Huge potential
This app has been a game changer for my workflow. The automatic silence removal works surprisingly well and saves me a lot of editing time. The fact that it’s free makes it even more impressive.
If I could wish for future improvements, it would be the option to also remove filler sounds like “um” and “ah,” and to manually cut short 1–2 second sequences. I would honestly be happy to pay for these advanced features.
