The system will not send you a code at all. We tried about 10 times before we just gave up and deleted the app. ### 1/5 — Missing functions *2025-06-04, version 25.4* No ability to see locations, availability of equipment, transactions or memberships. All of these were promised on the Rent.fun website as available features of the app. ### 1/5 — Memberships "coming soon" *2025-05-27, version 25.4* Our first frustration was that the prices didn't match what was listed online. So I decided to get the annual membership since it would be the same price as two rentals. The next frustration is that even though I had paid for an annual membership, which allows two kayak rentals at a time they still sent through a "hold" on my card for each rental. That triggered a fraud alert on my card and lowered my available balance; both of which affected other purchases. The third and I think most frustrating thing is that the app isn't even fully developed. Multiple parts of the app say "coming soon," including the membership portion I paid for the annual membership and I want to show the details of that. Especially the renewal date considering your website says it will automatically renew on that date with my card on file. But then your website says I should be able to cancel on the app before that date, but how am I supposed got do that if your app doesn't have that section available? ### 1/5 — BUGGY APP DONT USE *2025-05-12, version 25.4* Charged me 150 dollars for two hours of kayaking, 99 dollars for the unannounced membership, currently disputing with my bank. ### 1/5 — Charges are crazy *2025-05-12, version 25.4* They charge you extra money days later. They had trouble with their phone and couldn’t upload photo or lock kayak upon return. Now charged $500 for missing kayak and no willingness no negotiate. Will not rent again. Could have bought 2 kayaks brand new for less. ### 1/5 — It’s charging my card more than it should *2024-09-12, version 24.4* I had dropped my rod in the water and got the line but couldn’t pull it out of the water from the shore or dock, so I rented a kayak on 9/11/24 and they were charging me 35$ 50$ 35$ again on my card the next morning. If anything I’m pretty sure they are trying to get card numbers to scam people bc there is not Apple Pay or Venmo or cash app, your have to connect your card directly all, everything but ur name is needed for payment. THEY DONT have a way to delete your card off of the APP. ### 1/5 — Never received the code *2024-08-12, version 24.4* The app requires you enter a photo number so they can send you an sms to verify. Well I never received that code and the screen would not let go any further in registration. At least have email as a backup option! ### 1/5 — Leaky kayak, life jacket too small *2024-08-11, version 24.4* Title says it all. It’s clear that these kayaks don’t have enough eyes on them for maintenance. Mine had a slow leak on the bottom that led to me tipping by the end of things. Life jacket didn’t fit properly, even though the rentals are up to 300 pounds (I’m ~220 for reference, and it was WAY too small to clip up). Lovely lake, but terrible kayaking experience. ### 3/5 — Okay Experience *2024-08-04, version 24.4* There were some problems with the rental. There’s a number in the side of the cage that no one answer, just a voicemail telling you to leave you contact information. The cage for the kayak didn’t unlock the first, second, third or even fourth time. Great concept. I got a random charge from this company and they wouldn’t delete my card from my account. I needed to cancel my credit card and get a new one. Huge hassle. ### 1/5 — Unable to rent *2025-07-21, version 25.6* I downloaded the app, set up an account, and followed the directions to rent a kayak. After scanning the QR and trying to pay, the system said I have an invalid payment method. I tried to double check my card info but the edit function does not work. It says the card cannot be edited or deleted. Also, I’m positive it’s the right information. Was not able to rent a kayak. Tried customer service but they were slow to respond. Finally, the price listed online is not accurate. This feels like a scam. ### 1/5 — Double charged for extra minute *2025-07-12, version 25.6* Similar experience to what I read in other reviews. It is pretty hard to rent it right the first time you do it. We were a company of two families. One of the paid boats turned out to be not kayak but standing boat. While we were changing it and bringing all the boats to the water time was ticking. We were back from the lake and had to bring all the boats back to lockers. Time was ticking. As result, one of my boats was literally 1 min late beyond the paid time window. The other was 15 min later because of all the changing. Double charged for both of them. That’s how $50 becomes $100. Great business! Customer support explained that is normal and fair. Good luck with your people oriented business. ### 1/5 — Would never use again *2025-07-09, version 25.6* So I initially got the kayak out of the locker and then it charged me $15 dollars and I was like cool that’s pretty cheap. Then we went kayaking for 1 hour and 18 minutes, put it back, and then it charged me again for $50 dollars. So in total for a 1 HOUR AND 18 MINUTE KAYAK RENTAL it charged me $65 dollars even tho I didn’t even go past two hours. It would literally be cheaper to buy your own, unless you’re up for spending an insane amount of money. ### 1/5 — Kayak rental *2025-06-23, version 25.6* Tried and did end up renting 2 kayaks after so much headache between the app and the lockers. What started out as us just wanting to have fun on the lake I think we spend just as much time trying to get a kayak as we did on the water. 7 of the 12 lockers were down for maintenance. When some finally got returned other customer had the same issue as us trying to unlock lockers for 15minutes is not a good look. Will not be renting again my friend was also charged for the membership which she did not want the locker wouldn’t even open for her so she didn’t get a rental and they told her they would not refund her money. I called ahead to make sure dogs were allowed and was told they were. Charlie was good, though he’s much more used to my parents kayaks that don’t have drainage holes in the bottom. It’s okay, getting wet builds character! They provide lifejackets for humans, though of course Charlie-pup had his own.
