## What is RepeaterSTART Premium?

Repeater-START (Showing The Amateur Repeaters Tool) is a ham radio (and GMRS*) repeater map utilizing the repeaters at Hearham.com. This app lets you see nearby repeaters on a topo map, and on a list, sorted nearest first.

Once updated, the app works online or offline. No cell service? power outage? - no problem!

This premium version includes:
* Search functionality to move map directly to any country or peak (internet required).
* Search allows input of IARU Locator (maidenhead locator), even offline - move map to position and show nearby repeaters.
* Look up location of other hams by callsign and move map directly to position (internet required).
* Simple step by step instructions to program local repeaters on your radio. Anytone, Baofeng, Baofeng-mini, Retevis RT85/TYT UV88/Explorer QRZ-1, iCom, Quansheng, TIDRadio, Radioddity GD77/Baofeng 1801 DMR, Kenwood (TH-G71, TM-261, and TM-281) and Yaesu( VX-6, FT-4X, ft 25, ft-70, ft-65, ft-60, ft-2980) radios are supported with more coming soon...
* GMRS and/or Ham (amateur radio) can be selected to show or hide, in the settings. (*GMRS repeaters list is available for Washington, Oregon, Idaho: https://hearham.com/GMRS)
* Print out ability to print the step by step instructions to a networked printer.

### 4/5 — I think I’m using it wrong

*2026-02-22*

I saw a demo at Rickreal, got the app last night, and I get some repeaters in the text list below the map, but I do not see any antenna icons on the map, and the “show” switches are “on” in settings. What else do I need to do as a new user?

**Developer response:** You might have to wait a minute or two, quit and reopen the app on the first run sometimes. There are over 20,000 repeaters to load! If it still gives you issues do send an email with further details to contact@hearham.live, thank you.

### 5/5 — Good resource but UI needs some work

*2026-01-22*

It’s a great resource for Ham and GMRS repeaters. The UI is a bit cramped though. It’s would be helpful if the repeater details could optionally be hidden and the map window be made larger. Also, I could not find a filter to hide the inactive repeaters.

Update: The option to hide inactive repeaters is now available and the developer replied to let know.

**Developer response:** There is now an option to hide the inactive/unlinked ones.

### 4/5 — Suggestion

*2024-12-11*

Would be perfect if it told you how to program the repeater into memory. Something for the next update maybe?

**Developer response:** This has been added for many of the radios now.
